Abbey went over this in a few videos: the reason the packaging instructions are not quite accurate is they want as many people to try using their product as possible, so they made instructions that will be the most approachable way for the average consumer to try using their product. A lot of people would not use Olaplex or other bond repair products if they thought they HAVE to wash their hair before use, it’s just interesting that this makes their product not work as well so those people end up still not really liking the product as much. :/

@@Willowy13 Yeah, I stick to gentle shampoos. I really like the Not Your Mother’s Bond Building Shampoo because it feels almost like conditioner. Using it after you shampoo when the cuticle is open makes sense, but using it before and after shampoo, as they advise, seems excessive.

Lol I never read the instructions. I just saw it was a treatment. So I use it whenever my hair needs a bit of added strength. Between my shampoo and conditioner. That’s where I Always use any keratin/protein treatments. And yes they can make your hair brittle if you use them too much. 😅 But remove any buildup with shampoo. Use treatment, rinse. Than use conditioner. Don’t use again till your hair stops holding onto moisture as well as before. Full bleached level ten hair, fine straight texture and I only use it every five or six washes. So maybe once a month?

This is a thing I've been preaching for a while. Use it as your hair NEEDS it. If it's shine, soft, bouncy why the heck will you do any treatment? If the hair is ok it is a sign it doesn't need anything. My routine is shampoo, conditioner and leave in unless I feel the hair needs some love.

I leave it for almost 24 hours. I have thick, dry hair. After olaplex 3+6 it's incredibly soft and easy to strengthen (I have curly hair).
@lunagrace28722 жыл бұрын
I probably wouldn’t leaving olaplex #3 in your hair that long. It is professional strength products and leaving it in that long can actually cause damage to your hair then heal it. Similar to dermatologist doing a chemical peel, where a perfect time helps your skin but going to long with damage and burn your skin. I would probably be do 2 hours at the longest. Just giving you a heads up.

If your hair is sensitive to protein use #3 every 2 weeks😉
@valeriebrown55572 жыл бұрын
Olaplex doesn’t contain protein so You can use as much as needed
@moondrop30132 жыл бұрын
It does not have protein but it has panthenol which acts as a protein to some protein sensitive people. I can not use it as it makes my hair brittle. I can only use 0 for that reason.

All right, thank you. But what brand is it that you need to use another brand before it 🤦♀️So before I use the Olaplex treatment which is meant to be used "before" shampoo, I need to shampoo the hair first??? Then go with the treatment and then shampoo again? Whattt? I even do not use shampoo as a curly girl. Just saying. Olaplex is expensive and now it requires to use some plus products? Then it is not effective itself! Simply put - you end up with some expensive and time consuming washing, using 10 products and spending 3 hours. That's ridiculous 🙄💊

You don't have to pre shampoo but I will say it works better than way. You can use any shampoo doesn't have to be olaplex brand

If you want to be hardcore, put your hair in a bun, wrap it in plastic wrap (it stops working when it dries out), and wear around the house for a few hours before washing out.

@@Orangeyougladx3 Olaplex works when it’s better damp hair not dry hair, because it helps penetrates the hair better. Also olaplex is a professional grade strength, so leave it on the hair longer then attended it can actually cause damage to your hair then heal it. (Similar to professional chemical peels)

Hairdressers with far more experience always gave me bad hair cuts (save 1 time) and gave me red highlights when I wanted to go copper hair (I did it at home with low experience). One should ignore any instruction saying you should apply this or that on dirty hair. When you do bleaching, why is it good to have a dirty scalp? Because the layer of dirty will make more difficult for the bleach to damage your scalp by reducing the direct contact with it. So, if bleach can't penetrate dirty to damage your scalp, why would anyone think that a simple hair mask will penetrate the dirty all over your hair to do its work?
