RBs getting signed early is not an indicator of perceived value. Barkley is a top 5 player at his position and got less money than Gabe Davis who is not a top 50 player at his position. Teams knew that the RBs have accepted what their market value is and would sign immediately so it was important to get one before they were gone.

It's part of the fear for sure here. But I'm having faith that part of the missed chunks of time were also to try to keep saquon decently healthy during seasons when the giants weren't contenders. It doesn't cover allllll that missed time. I'm merely saying I hope it's part of it, Combining that with the eagles offensive line being a factor is trying to keep Saquon on the field more. his injury concerns are def nothing to just ignore, however, you also have to acknowldege the huge differences in circumstances he will be in. giants had to depend on him in every game in order to just compete, while also having a horrendous o-line. it makes sense that he would have been run into the ground and deal with injuries. now, he’s behind a top 5 oline, with a team that has two alpha wr’s and a top 10 TE. there wont be as heavy of a dependency on barkely. im not saying he wont get hurt, but his chances of getting hurt are significantly reduced when comparing his circumstance in NY vs. PHI

Barkley is top 5 in pass protection and can catch and you have to game plan for him, not to mention they can’t they can’t stack the box against him because of AJ and Devontae. Hurts does not have to try and run anymore and prolong his career. Eagles are mimicking the 49ers who absolutely killed us because of the respect you have to have for cmc. Be careful, because Barkley is not a back that has been able to get the tough 1-2 yards, in fact he was often removed from the field on short yardage situations when with the Giants, because he is not a power runner, will not run-over defenders, but rather he always attempts to run around them. He is a gifted running back that needs open space to take advantage of his skill-set. I like Barkley but they spent too much. The RB market is mid 20s - they paid upper 30s (mid 40s with incentives) for an injury prone RB who's best days may have already happened (questionable)? I think Howie paniced after losing Swift and felt he HAD to land Barkley and I'm sure Barkleys agent knew he had some leverage in the deal bc of Swift. You also mentioned Murray who was a complete bust - do you think there is anything to picking an RB from a division rival that could make that pick not as attractive. that is, Barkley's rival for his entire career was the Eagles, now he's essentially playing for the enemy? Or does that not matter? It sure didnt work out with Murray.
@sirfish98246 ай бұрын
This Demarco Murray stuff is so dumb. Murray wasn’t a highly skilled player he had one good season before we signed him and he had that good season because he had 400 Carries in a single season. 7th most Carrie’s in a season all time which is why his stats were so good. He had half his Carrie’s on the eagles and had half the yards. Also saquon was a 2nd overall pick for a reason. He’s a dynamic player in every aspect of the game catching,running, blocking, break tackles, make people miss tackles. He’s got every tool. Murray was a one trick pony. And saquon would have been the first pick in his draft if it wasn’t for baker mayfield being a quarterback.
