americans call them all turtles, NA education and all that
@mastere61152 жыл бұрын
@@anasalami7892 Well, that is not necessarily true. All Tortoises, Turtles, and Terrapins are Testudines, which is the name for pretty much every species that is in that vein. But, because of common use today, some people refer to the whole species via them being Turtles, since technically the names Turtle, Tortoise, and Terrapin are not the technical names, but just have become the names used by people most commonly, and each are seen to mean different things in different places. But tif it helps, the majority of the land dwelling Testudines are technically called Testudinidae. In some ways it is easier to go with your common way of it, the issue is the misunderstanding of others since there is barely any commonality between the different uses for the three common terms. But hey, I'm sure we'll eventually decide upon one haha.
@Chris-wy3ok2 жыл бұрын
There's definitely SOMETHING there for humans recognizing their family without realizing it. When I was a baby my dad was diagnosed with cancer, and he figured the best way to go about it was leaving my mom and moving away so i didn't form too deep a connection. Kinda softening the blow for the day he inevitably died. Not here to figure out wether this was actually a good move or not but he decided instead of being a dad he'd just be an uncle. Introduced himself to me as an uncle when I met him again when I was a bit older visiting my grandma. He had moved back in with her since he couldn't or wouldn't work. No one ever dropped any hints or even really wanted me to figure it out but pretty much every single time I saw him I would accidentally call him Dad. It wasn't like I had a thing with calling random people dad, it was only ever him. Then one day I guess he just couldn't take it and before I could correct myself and call him uncle he admitted that he was actually my biological dad. I don't think I ever really processed it. too young. Just kind of accepted the fact that I had a new dad and this one was somehow different from stepdads

I consider the biggest turtle(also called a leather back turtle) a keystone species because those animals help control the jellyfish population. Without sea turtles ,and other jellyfish predators ,the jellyfish will over populated the ocean. More jellyfish also means more beaches becoming and more power plants malfunctioning and shutting down. Jellyfish polyps can also crowd out coral reefs and eating fish eggs.

On average each generation is 25 years. In the title, there is 14 greats and 1 grandmother. Assuming each great is one generation and a grandmother is 3 generations, there would be 17 generations in total. That means, by average, your Great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandmother would have existed 425 years ago, back in 1596. At this time, a person could have attended a William Shakespeare play.

A lot of animals actually don't care so much about inbreeding, and inbreeding has less effect on species with deep or varied gene pools.
@izarreboogieman86242 жыл бұрын
*SWEET HOME ALABAMA*
@freak98902 жыл бұрын
Yeah, people treat it like if 6 people decided to inbreed it would cause the apocalypse. I'm not saying it's good, but the reason inbreeding is bad long-term is because it offers little genetic variety and amplifies negative genes that may exist in the parents, but you realistically wouldn't start to see serious health complications until several generations down the line of continuous inbreeding (assuming the parents never had massive health concerns themselves). It's also reversible if it does happen. Let's say a family inbreeds for 5 generations and starts having medical issues with offspring, well literally all they would need to do is not inbreed for a few generations and the offspring would progressively go back to normal. It's certainly not the most beneficial way to continue the family line, but I feel like people exaggerate it way too much due to its taboo nature. At the end of the day, inbreeding will not cause the extinction of a species, because not every creature in the species is inbreeding. That's like saying the human race will go extinct because a couple of people are gay....
