I think it's partly down to looking at and holding something with great power in your hand. I would never hurt anyone or anything with a knife or firearm, and absolutely condemn anyone who does, yet I somehow like looking at both knifes, pistols, and rifles. For a similar reason I think I like space rockets and cars, both just extremely impressive pieces of engineering and display of possibilities and power
@Fuerwahrhalunke2 жыл бұрын
Maybe it has something to do with the hunter part that has been part of a man's life since humans and it's predecessors existed. I think it's still a part of our DNA, just because we did it for so long. I believe that even the toughest male environmentalist has an appreciation for weapons, if he likes to admit it or not.
@dermax_hd2 жыл бұрын
@@Fuerwahrhalunke might be something to it yeah.. again sorta plays into my theory of having that potential to do what's in our DNA, as you said, to hunt, to survive. Even if we don't actually kill an animal with the knife, just having the option in that tool makes us like the look of it
@Fuerwahrhalunke2 жыл бұрын
@@dermax_hd Very true. The egineering part of "Engineering and display of possibilities and power" is also a true statement for me, though I draw the line between a handmade and a weapon that's been machined to be as perfect as possible. Something about knowing that someone put his heart and soul (And also his strength) into creating a weapon has a nice taste to it. That's why bows, knifes, swords and all sorts of weapons that's been in use for centuries feel like an honor to handle if done by an individual.

Guess I never thought bout knives being inthe genetic memory of humans in the same way the fear of drowning is imprinted upon our instincts through genetic memory

I couldn't agree more. It's not just a knife or a tool, but the opportunities/possibilities that come along with it. Like you said, survival and defense but also the opportunity to make and create so many other things.

Where I was born and raised we have one of the most ancient if not the most, traditions on Knives and Axes. Crete Island is the "Mecca" of knives in Greece. All men here, are born with steel in their DNA. I personally know from my parents, that kept telling that srory here and there, that I was asking them of a knife, since I was 2.5 years old baby. At my 12, I already had a very big collection and could easily stick a knife on a tree, with either half spin or instictive no spin throwing technique. My first degree, was in Chemistry/Metallurgy, just because of my love for knives. Whatever I did for living in my life, I chose that, to have a relation with knives. As I'm getting old, I still love knives as ever, but I hate to say, that people are not "humans" anymore, and that, has affected everything out there, including knives. What caused that, is another story. I'm just sad, when I see people choose quantity instead of quality. However, in the same time, I get happy, when I see Classic taste and original old school people!! Listen to the old ones people, and look in the mirror not to fix your appearance, but your mistakes! Be a MAN, be a gentleman. not a piece of junk, that nowdays trends and media, push you to be... be clever...be Original!!!

Your video also reminds me of a premise owen benjamin explained about how a weapon in an urban setting is likely viewed as as a dangerous thing needing regulation, whereas the same weapon in a rural area is a vital helpful tool. Another person in an urban area is often viewed as a threat, or at least a rival for limited resources. In a rural area, a person is more seen as a benefit, a neighbor, someone who can help in time of need. We are natural men and women, and urban areas couldn't be more unnatural... Is this the first of your eagerly awaited upcoming series, deep thoughts with Jared? I'm already a huge fan.

Staring at a flame has been said to help decalcify our pineal gland, which can be described as our antenna with which we allow God to speak to us (and flouride is one of the main ways it's calcified.) Also, staring at the ocean or stars is so primal as it was how we navigated for centuries. It's a muscle that we rarely exercise since we spend much of our time staring at a screens usually no more than ten feet from us. I remember reading a novel, Room, about a mother and child kept hostage in a small space. When they were freed, their eyes had never focused past the short distance that made up the walls of their room, so it was a struggle to adjust. Which then leads me to recall a story I heard about factory farming pigs who lived their lives barely able to move into they are led to slaughter, and many of them die on that short walk as their bodies and/or minds couldn't handle the stress. Not sure how these things have anything to do with your video, but I appreciate you planting the seed of your idea... It's fun to see where such thoughts will go!

Why I like knives? They are really dam usefull, fidgety (for the ones I have), really a modern work of art but use-able art, not the "abstract" garbage that they sell as art, and it has some sort of cool factor to it...
