This Is Why You Should Buy The 2023 Toyota CHR!!
As categories of SUVs go, the compact SUV market has seen a rise in the number of cars produced over many years, with this becoming more obvious on the roads, every passing year. One of Toyota's main entries into this area is with the CH-R.
Like many Toyota models, the 2023 Toyota CHR is a great all-rounder offering you good gas mileage, sharp handling, tranquil comfort, accurate driver feel, and of course the awesome styling. We, like many across the globe, love the new CHR, and here’s why…
You have the best of both…
Like many crossover compact SUVs, one of the C-HR’s strengths has always been that it offers you the smooth and accurate driving capabilities of a hatchback or sedan, whilst giving you a more similar seating position to an SUV. Whilst often think of an SUV being several feet taller than a sedan to give you that improved visibility on the roads, the Toyota CHR is in fact only 4.7 inches taller than a standard Toyota Corolla, at 61.2 inches, compared to the Corolla’s 56.5 inches but it’s enough of a difference to know that you’re no longer driving a sedan of the 2000s…
The all new 2023 Toyota C-HR's steering feels accurate, and at the same time its front wheels respond directly to driver input. The handling is lively, body roll is well managed, making you forget that you're higher off the ground. For such a cool looking crossover, we would have liked a bit more power than the standard model’s 121 horsepower, as the resulting 0-60 time of 11 seconds feels like a month by 2023 standards. But hey, that’s not really what this car is about...
Sporty Design
While the 2023 CHR is a small family SUV, the Japanese automaker hasn't stopped the C-HR from looking cool and unique. The beauty of the Toyota stands out, especially in the small SUV category.
There are many sporty details which can be found all over the new CH-R. The aggressive-looking front grille, with the widened wheel arches, the rear spoiler with the sporty vents are just a few. Overall, the automaker has dominated in a class that isn't quite known for having the best looking cars and for that reason, it's one of the best.
The next-gen Toyota C-HR will be much bolder than the current model. It will feature a design inspired by the Toyota C-HR prologue, a concept created at the same place as the current C-HR ED2, Toyota's European Design Development center in the south of France. The C-HR prologue looks smaller than the C-HR, but Toyota says it actually has a more spacious and practical interior. It's unapologetically snazzy, not to mention sportier and sophisticated.
Larger wheels and shorter overhangs give the C-HR prologue a better stance than the current C-HR, while the "hammerhead" face endows it with a powerful first impression. Slimmer headlights, reduced grille apertures, diamond-shaped greenhouse, flush door handles, split rear spoiler, and slim and wide combination lights highlight the vehicle's high-tech design. We expect at least 80% of the design to reach production.
Great Fuel Economy
Speed isn't the new C-HR's main focus; fuel efficiency is where this crossover shines. For a car of its weight, shape, and size, the new CH-R offers some fairly competitive ratings regarding fuel efficiency.
Now given the car has a fairly large 2.0-liter engine, the CH-R is less efficient than similar cars with smaller capacity engines, but at the same time, the new Toyota CH-R manages to give a mix the mpg of around 30 across the whole range making it plentiful.
And while its EPA estimates of 27 mpg city and 31 mpg highway have the 2023 C-HR neck and neck with most competitors, and it blew away all but the Nissan Kicks that is two minutes tied for the same result in its real-world highway fuel-economy testing: The XLE model car experts tested smashed past its EPA rating and delivered a staggering 37 mpg throughout 200 miles.
A Comfortable Ride
Typical Toyota quality abounds inside the all new 2023 C-HR's cabin. Well except for a pair of cheap plastic panels on each side of the center console, and the materials all over the interior seem well-chosen and durable. There is a faux-leather dash with simulated stitching looks upscale, white diamond-patterned plastic on the doors and similarly patterned headliner accents which add a bit of fun to the mix. And in low-light situations, the trim used on the dashboard of its XLE test car appeared to be standard-issue piano black, but at the same time in direct sunlight, a metallic glaze shone through, which is a nice surprise.
Don't miss the 2023 Toyota Corolla Hybrid:

I agree with Toyota strategy; EV are not the solution. Having owned an EV; suffering range anxiety, broken chargers, lack of infrastructure, rising cost of charging, adding 30-40% extra time to long journey.. no thanks. Hybrid cars and hydrogen are way forward..

Europe is not the only market where it will continue to remain available. The C-HR is quite popular here in Australia, and Toyota isn't going to take it from our market. In this video, failure to not mention the very good and extremely economical hybrid version is a serious omission. Never mind that it is underpowered. Our Lamborghini and Ferrari drivers here couldn't care less about that because we can't go faster than 110 km/h here anyway, and the hybrid accelerates well enough to overtake a truck or pull you out of a hazard zone. This Toyota is an eye-catcher, especially in hornet yellow with a black roof.

Having recently purchase a new car from another manufacturer, when I sat in the CHR for the first time, I could tell it was a 6 year old design. It needs a real overhaul inside, and given the upcoming Hyundai and Kia updates, I really hope the 2024 model brings the game.

am not into car racing so I don care about the speed. We can’t go over 65-65 m/hr in the parkways . And if over goes over that , just be sure no state highway trooper is lurking ahead the roadside. All these fast drivers usually cause accidents on the road . Unfortunately those other drivers drivers get hit too - near, infront or alongside that fast, reckless, in a hurry driver.

Yeah I'm renting one that's maybe 2 years old. It's uncomfortably small, slow, and I don't know how the gas mileage could be considered good. Maybe my rental just has issues, but on a full tank it reads something like 260 miles to empty and reports 27 mpg on a very mixed usage city/highway. My 2017 Hyundai Elantra could do 430 miles on a full tank and I would get 33 mpg city driving... Also, the touch screen is incredibly clunky and glitchy.
