Having fished multiple s in different sizes and colors, kzbin.infoUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 this is by far my favorite. One thing to be aware of is the sided willow blade. One side is silver and the other is the green/orange shown. This is not bad, just unconventional. In terms of fishing, I have found the lure works just fine without a tail like a craw or shad. That addition is up to you. Also, the hook part where you attach the swivel snap or tie the line is a problem on baits these days, since it's able to slide up and down. However this lure seems to be tight enough that that doesn't happen often, and you can solve it by putting a thin slice of medical tube over the hook before attaching the line. Like others have said, it's really magic on a good windy day.

Force reels it in, rips it out of the water, lets it dangel in the air vertically, touches it with dry hands, keeps the fish out of the water longer than necessary, doenst use tools to remove hook, and then throws it back into the water. He honestly did more wrong than right.

Several takeaways; 1. that's one of the most impressive freshwater videos I've seen on KZbin. 2. Sweet release. 3. You've got quality tackle and quality camera gear. Invest $30 in a couple of sand spikes. As a guy who beach sharks, it's going to be a sick feeling to watch hundreds of dollars worth of rod and reel launch off that muddy bank being towed by one of those dinosaurs. Even with a light drag or open bail your line could wrap a guide or backlash that conventional. 4. Still impressive AF! Subbed.

When I was eighteen or so, I was fishing on the beach with my bestfriend and this exact situation happened. The rod just shot onto the sand I was lucky to be fast enough getting out of the chair and onto the sand to catch it before we lost the whole thing. We ended up bringing in a 3 or so foot shark at that. But man, if it wanted to that thing could've been gone.

This. If you value your gear, tie it to something immovable. I would fish afternoons after work until well past dark, and fall asleep. I always had my rod tethered to something, my wrist, my leg, my chair, a dock cleat, a tree, something. Had a couple hard hits that I wasn't ready for and I've never lost gear.

Specific fish are caught, tagged, released and then caught again years later. They don't die of trauma when this is done properly (I do it properly). @@wildlifefishingshow I second this. The Garrison Damn National Fish Hatchery in North Dakota has been bringing the same sturgeon in to harvest and grow the eggs since WWII. I have seen the sturgeon in the tank. Those same fish have been "caught and traumatized" about 75 times each and they looked ok to me! Plus the eggs have about a ten thousand to one better chance of survival.

Wow! I lived in Houston almost fifty years and fished buffalo bayou only once on the west side of attics reservoir just a little off fry road. Caught some pretty big bass but never anywhere around downtown. Stude park on white oak bayou was my go to for cast netting finger mullet to feed the bull red's off Bryan beach and the Brazos river. @Mark Ulis yes, i absolutely agree, but unfortunately many people don't. i always used to use barbless when i used to fish but for those that don't using fine barbs is a step in the right direction. the regular barbed hooks with large barbs are horrendous. i would always encourage barbless hooks, not only are they better for the fish but easier to remove from nets etc.

@Mark Ulis there's an argument many UK fishermen make against barbless in that you risk multiple penetrations throughout the fight. I'm undecided on which I think is more beneficial so I use hooks with small barbs as a compromise. There's a lot to consider. But ultimately with catfish and gar, the incredibly small barbs aren't nearly as much a concern as they are with finer species anyway.

Yup. A offshoot of buffalo bayou ran by the campus and I would go there all the time. I remember the urban youth looking at me like "what are you doing?" But for me it was a private fishing spot. Big Gar, Big Bass, big grass carp, big koi fish, big cats. Now they're turning it into a park and cutting the vegetation away and landscaping it to make it more accessible. So rip to that spot lol

Funny how so many people don't realize how many or how large the fish can be in such a small bayou tributary I've cought monster yellow cats in the rice canals in Galveston county but the thing to remember is that they are part of the Brazos River. The same thing is true about Dallas and Fort Worth because the same small tributaries supply the Trinity River. Just because you don't see other people fishing those areas doesn't mean their isn't a monster fish right under their nose.

He's in downtown Spokane and the Spokane Riiver is highly polluted. They have signs all along the river telling people to shower immediately after swiming and the fish are contaminated with mercury from the old gold mines in Idaho as well as other toxins. In other words don't eat the fish.

Nice gar I hooked about a 7 footer 3 years ago it almost dragged me in, I had to sit down and reel the reel was singing and the rod was making cracking sounds it finally straightened out my hook like the one you was using it got away but it sure was a fun fight, congratulations on that big gar.

Then an actual alligator came up and ate it. Then an alligator snapping turtle came up and attacked the gator.😀

First time catching one of your vids. I live in Philly after moving up here from Lake County,Fl,so that's right in the city water with 2 rivers. Been fishing just salt water over 20 years and just recently took up freshwater again. Lot of new stuff and ways these days.

Most of these places near city's the water is so polluted from trash and runoff you would not want to eat them I have caught catfish like this with sores and holes in their skin . I always threw them back in.

@@axeman4071 This is so true for my neck of the woods. Trinity river near downtown Dallas, too nasty. I call em' mud-cats.
