Generations from now our countries will be beyond any help or beyond recovery due to the character of newcomers. They don't care about rules, bag limits, size limits. I see it everyday in Australia, and calling "authorities" is pointless. Also getting stabbed or bashed for confronting these people isn't in my best interest. Westmen are the most caring but they'll lecture us everyday like we are the ones who don't care which is false.

@@Good-VS-Evil777 no need to be offended that someone likes that I release the fish. It says a whole lot more about you that the appreciation of catch and release upsets you than someone with the opposing opinion. And just because you clearly don't understand how this works, my choice of what to catch and keep vs what to catch and release has to do with the size and (often corresponding) growth rate of the fish. Mullet and shad are an incredibly well populated species that fill the ecological niche of food base for larger predators, which means they are biologically equipped as a species to reproduce quickly and in large numbers. The larger fish that I'm trying to catch are slow growing and generally fill the ecological niche of predator and sometimes apex predator of their environment, which means they are not biologically equipped to bounce back from predation nearly as quickly, so I prefer to let them go. Also there's, you know, length limits... Don't recoil in horror that some of us appreciate letting large fish go.

Nine years ago, late-October 2012, the Friday before Hurricane Sandy struck New Jersey I had action from passing schools very big bluefish _and_ big stripers. I had the big baits (half a bunker) set out but these fish decimated my tackle even the wire leaders. I gave up the bait fishing after a half-hour and didn't do much better with lures. My plugging rods were no match for the big bluefish which shredded everything. In just under an hour it was all over. In the aftermath of 🌀 Hurricane Sandy there was almost no sport fishing that fall and winter. Recovery was the order of the day. I spent some months upgrading my gear. Almost everything pre-2012 was retired.

@@JackycClark I had the impression that the changing barometrics were influencing the action. I haven't encountered anything like the action I describe in my first comment since. There have been separate feeding blitzes, primarily stripers, in the years since Hurricane Sandy. Fun and productive. The Bluefish runs that I grew up experiencing all seem to have disappeared. Many wise anglers assure me that the blues have gone offshore. It used to be that much of the month of October could be counted on to showcase inshore bluefish blitzes of startling magnitude. Wave-running blues swimming through the sunlit swells. Those were really something. Eighteen to twenty pound bluefish just waiting to shred one's fishing tackle. Yes, those were really memorable.

Nice! Question, Ive been surf fishing most of my life. I see a lot of people doing this, why stand so far away from.the water and fight fish? @wildlifefishingshow
@wildlifefishingshow 2 жыл бұрын
For me personally, I try to park my vehicle about ten feet from where I know the high tide line is going to be and keep most of my gear in one place for convenience (so most of what I'm doing is far back from the water as a result). I do put the rod holders a bit closer to the water and you're right, it's not quite as far as it looks. I'm personally terrified of the possibility of a rod holder falling in the water, even though it's never happened. I also mount my camera on my vehicle sometimes so it also helps if everything is closer to the camera if I'm not wearing it.
@andyowens2645

Yup, when we go (frequently in the summer), we move our gear with the tideline, typically start right at the water's edge, but mostly so we don't get in the way of people walking on the beach. Course they still walk under our lines, which is fine. I just won't want someone getting hurt.

Are you referring to the break away cannon? That piece that you put on your rod near the reel that has like a release trigger. If its the same thing you're talking about, I've wanting to buy it to try it out, but wanted to know about it first from an actual persons experience. On Amazon its called Break away cannon.

@@jpmt4316 I have that one. I love it. Took a couple tries to the surf before I realized I had the placement wrong, but once I figured it out it has been a love - love relationship.

It's hard to make it look clean when you have so much equipment and tools. Maybe he needs a bigger truck with his youtube channel on it . That would be awesome.

If I'd have caught that Red, it would've ended up in a sauce piquant. What... you don't cook?
@wildlifefishingshow

I don't need to cook every fish I catch. I prefer catch and release, especially for the larger fish. Besides, when I do catch and cooks, I do them exclusively on my other channel.

Looks like you're using a Penn Slammer! Brutally tough reels that last forever with minimal maintenance. I have the SSG4000 myself and the design is extremely simple. Quality craftsmanship with 5 Ball Bearing is all a reel really needs. I've have Penn Reels with 10+ BB and what happens is dirt and sand get into the bearing and the smoothness is gone within 2 to 3 years.

A lot of places have a maximum size you can keep in redfish, like florida where I've caught them then same size as the video they want to keep big breeders in the population to sustain the fishery. It was actually too big to keep.

Very nice redfish. Whats even better is that you returned it to do whatever reds of that size do, mostly eat and reproduce. After catching many more than my fair share of reds in SE Louisiana, the best table fare is "the legal size" is up to about 21-22 inches unless you're fishing in a tournament.
