My father grew up with Laurel and Hardy and always enjoyed their brand of comedy. He introduced me to them when I was a kid (circa 1970s) and I've been a huge fan of theirs ever since. Godspeed to you both Mr. Laurel and Mr. Hardy!

20 years of so ago, I was in a bar in San Diego, and the tv screen had a video, set to music from Madonna, of the boys dancing, and it was magic! I don't remember the song, and it really isn't important. What is important is that through the magic of video and audio recording these two men were still entertaining people, long after they were both gone. Thank you boys, for the laughter and warmth you shared with all of us.

One has to be grateful that this survives. A post script to their careers which had ended with the (now remastered and looking so good that people are finally giving it respect) Utopia/ Atoll K, three years earlier. Easy to criticize the hasty nature and loud overbearing host who talks over most of the emotional reunions, but this is how tv was in 1954. There was no retrieval system for viewers, they simply watched and moved onto the next programme. It is still a delightful and enjoyable short film. As a Hardy fan I did find the host very weightist and annoying, and the programme gave both men hardly a line to speak, but it is still great to see it at last. Thanks for sharing.

I'm glad this historic programme has survived but, what's the rush!! Why the constant remarks about Ollie's size? These two deserved being given a lot more dignity.

Notice that Hal Roach Sr. did NOT take part in this tribute. No doubt to the various attempts he made to break up L&H & pit one against the other, unsuccessfully. They left his studio after making their last feature for him, "Saps At Sea" in 1940.

This is interesting as Oliver Hardy In May 1954, suffered a mild heart attack. During 1956, he began looking after his health for the first time in his life. He lost more than 150 pounds in a few months, which completely changed his appearance. If you search or the last footage of Laurel and Hardy there is a home movie of them together and Oliver Hardy looks completely different.

This is their first and only american tv appearance. quite sadly they're were expected to star in a series of one hour children's fables in color and with complete creative freedom and all from their old boss's son unfortunately.

Stan hated this segment. They were caught offguard and Stan hated to be seen unprepared, even on a show like this.
