Ali was clearly in a conundrum at the end. She didn't want to leave Littlefoot behind, and she still didn't want his friends around, so in order to have him all for herself, she very clearly soul jumped into Littlefoot and walked off with his possessed body so they could be together forever. That's my head canon. For the record, this is totally believable btw. I've had dudes who up and dropped off the face of the earth as soon as some chick comes around and even mildly reciprocated interest, only to come back to open arms once that doomed relationship took its natural course. Bros before hoes, Littlefoot! One would have thought after all they've been through that he would have learned that valuable lesson, but I'll cut him some slack since this is literally the first time he's actively been around a female of his own kind that wasn't his relative. Everyone gets one freebie. Them hormones do some stuff sometimes. Though for real, as soon as you said Ali gave him the bedroom eyes, my immediate thought was, "Run, bro! You're still a child! Flee that racist temptress!"

This movie was always what came to my mind when my grandpa was dying of cancer last year. I had hoped he would pull through like Littlefoot's grandpa, and it seemed like he might. But the cancer returned and claimed him last June. Now I can't watch this movie in it's entirety without thinking about him 😔 Thanks for showing the movie in a way that doesn't bring out the waterworks, Alteori.

Also to add in some context, many years back when the LBT4 page was still online, it stated that Ali feared other species due to horror stories told to her by herd members. It was instilled into her at a young age that anything not a longneck was dangerous, hence why she was so determined at first to keep Littlefoot's friends away.

As lame as the land before time movies have gotten, the one thing that I loved about them is that they always gave slight nods to actual paleontology and people who liked prehistoric animals. In the case of the turtle, “Archie” is clearly a reference to “Archelon” , an actual huge species of sea turtle that lived during the Mesozoic .
@cintronproductions9430
@cintronproductions9430 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, these movies actually kept introducing new prehistoric species every movie, some of which are (or were) pretty obscure. This movie alone has Archelon, Deinosuchus, Ichthyornis and prehistoric mammals, while the previous one had Hypsilophodon, Muttaburrasaurus, Nodosaurus and the sharpteeth were raptors instead of the usual T.rex.

( heads up probably alter what this song is saying to emphasize what I feel its saying ) This part of the movie when little foots grandmother convinces him to go to bed, she sings a lullaby called “grandma‘s lullaby” where she expresses in song the great circles continuation of it’s beginning even when people pass. She expresses how the great circle is a straightforward line that continually goes around and always starts at the beginning for each generation but ITSELF will never end. But it is always ENHANCED due to the many lives that live under it. When we hear or experience an unfortunate loss within our very lives, we can’t help but feel a sense of sadness and for others a deep sense of loneliness and for a strong amount of others, a powerful depression. But then there’s also the power of what’s left from what others have given us. And I feel like as I am listening more and more to this song it feels so true to the heart of how the nature of HUMAN LIFE is as well as the nature of Life itself works. It’s a natural process of continual beginnings and continual endings, and so those consistent births and deaths are just a part of the process, and whats within the middle is The time given, to play, to nurture, to teach, and to protect, the next generation after the next generation which is really what is the magic of what makes living underneath the great circle so wondrous which is the opportunity to pass these qualities to the next generation. In doing so the power of life is given an expression as an appreciation for it’s on existence to the nature of life and as people we enhance Life experience by the qualities expressed above ours in return as a “thank you”. But this song also has a way of keeping us mentally grounded in the present and understanding that this part of our nature cannot be denied no matter how stagnant we may stay. It will keep moving unapologetically and we will have to keep moving no matter how it looks on our end. Because it wants us to because we have to continue to pass down the same miraculous opportunities that the great circle or the power of the nature of life, gives us freely as an opportunity to explore and express. ( healthy or not is an entirely different and powerfully explore story ). And as humans it’s also natural to miss and even morn the passing of a loved one, But the ways each generation gives attention to the other, such as the techniques on how to play, how to nurture and how to protect the ones you love, those qualities have a soul residence that always synchronize strong with the soul that passes because on a soul level these individuals are never really gone they are just part of a larger part of your life and the generations to come next. So to me, I fully believe that as we do come to our time and, I also believe that we don’t truly pass away but become one with the larger part of the nature of life and the next human life.

33:20 - 34:08 That seems like a strangely common trope in these kids movies / shows. The bad guys are only competent when the target is the intended damsel / dude in distress [Littlefoot] but when it's some other character they're so stupid they literally let the character get away quick and easy 😹

In defense of the "no one trying to shout for Cera to find her in the fog (or vice versa)" thing, it's actually been confirmed that thick fog/mist like what we see in the movie actually _can_ severely affect how far a sound can be heard. Frankly though, even if that _wasn't_ the case I personally wouldn't want to attempt it myself... at least not until I'd gotten myself securely up into a tree's branches, as it's possible they'd just attract more Bigmouthed Belly-Draggers like Dil, which would have home-field advantage in a place with such poor visibility.😱🐊

This one was always my favorite because I always adored the dynamic between Ichy and Dil. Dinosaurs, by taxonomy, are this very unique in-between of reptiles and birds. So when you take that into account, Alli has even less reason to be so scared of other dinosaurs or pterosaurs, as they're closer in relation compared to the more farther apart extreme that Ichy and Dil represent and they somehow managed to make that work in spite of being so prejudiced against each other. It also makes Ducky and Spike all the more admirable because mammals and dinosaurs are even farther apart, yet they got along with Tickles fine too. I also like how you brought up how reliant Dil and Ichy are on each other due to Dil's poor eyesight and Ichy not being as big and powerful in a world of giants.

most of those inconsistencies where people swap places in animation mostly has to do with cuts or idea changes but production overlooks completed scenes, a ton of stationary or low complexity scenes are drawn long before other more active scenes so it might have just been a directional change where no one noticed the original color pallet

Those were the two films I always watched at my grandparents house and that is why I remember them so well. I also watched another 2D dinosaur movie, Dinotopia, that was also one I really liked as a kid. It sure is nice to go back to these, chills ran down my spine when I heard the music for the very first time in many years. Honestly tho - looking back at this, Ali was incredibly bad. But she was also so dumb. It seems like all she really wanted was Littlefoot to herself. And if she was smart, she probably could have sabotaged their entire journey when they were alone together. Got "lost" trying to find the valley of the mist, Littlefoot's grandpa would have died while she wasted his time, and then he and his Grandma would have been forced to leave the great valley - meaning Littlefoot would have left his friends and would be stuck with Ali for the rest of his life. (At least until he was old enough to leave the herd..) So I guess it could've been worse!

Looking at this movie again as an adult, I realize just how right you are about Ali. It seems like she's almost sabotaging Littlefoot's friendship with the others at pretty much every turn. And Littlefoot is just _okay_ with all of this. Also, that she gets over her racial fear after a few days is extremely unrealistic. I understand it's a kid's movie, but that could've been a point to bring up in future appearances. Oh well. Those voiceovers you've been doing with the grandparents are hilarious, especially because of the more adult humor. My favorite bit was at 3:53. Don't know why, but the line combined with grandpa in sunglasses and 'I am the One' playing was just so funny

I remember after this movie came out, i shipped littlefoot and Ali so hard, they were one of my earliest ships when i was a kid (I was about 11 when this movie came out), then i read the LBT wiki last year or so, or a couple of years ago, and I discovered she’s actually his cousin (I never watched the later movie (the tenth) where she shows up again and that is established, when we also meet LFs father, so i had no idea.) I was actually kinda disappointed to find out they were related since she’s he’s literal only option for kids out of the main cast. I never watched the TV show either, but i do know of it, and the characters that introduced (such as Ruby the Oviraptor) It’s also kind of a shame the actress who played Ali only ever did that one role. Look her up on imdb, tht is the only movie credit to her name.

@@Alteori apparently they are, according to the wiki. And i just finished watching the video through to the end (nice drawing btw) and yeah, those were some pretty major goofs the editing team missed, though that seems to be a staple for these movies, they’re full of editing mistakes that really should have been caught. As for Ali’s VA, it seems you’re right, she’s been in a lot of stuff, it must have been one of the other actors I was thinking of.

Hi Alteori! My name is Dan & I want to share with You how much Your 'Land Before Time' series means to Me. Having also grown up loving the early films, (especially the masterpiece first film) I found Your passion, infectious joy and critical film school wit so wonderful and engaging that I watched the full playlist in like two days, ha I found it charming how, in Your imaginative way, You named Little Foot's grandparents, Mother, and Cera's Dad among others. I also really loved seeing Your speed paintings of Your original artworks layered into Your narrative explorations of the films. And when You feature hilarious freeze frames and crack up laughing I would nearly fall out of my seat gasping for air, myself, haha You have a naturally warm and graceful demeanor to Your presentation and humor that highlights and brings out the heart and charm of these films, in my opinion. And I enjoyed discovering the later films with You for the first time (some of which I never even knew existed because My family never had them, ha). P.S. I am making a musical continuation of Your killer 'Stone of Cold Fire' track, because it took Me by surprise how fire It was. And I will be happy to share it to You, when it's done. Honestly, discovering Your L.B.T. videos and Your wonderful YT channel have brightened my life. Thank You for sharing Your art, creativity, and passion for film, Alteori! All the Best!

I’m gonna be honest, I feel like Ali in the end Is a child and learned this from a parent, maybe her mother or a matriarch. It’s very possible there’s missing context or there’s something very sinister that she’s mimicking because she think that’s normal. Maybe the whole reason is because she’s watched other leaf eaters die during the floods and the supremacy thing was a way to cope. Not to mention she’s undergone immense trauma with the move to the valley. But in the end I feel like it may be apart of her natural personality too. There’s a lot of context But it’s possible she has a lot of red flags right now as of now that indicate this behavior is LEARNED.

But I still love this one all the same. I love your videos Definitely agree with you about Alli Anyway here are my hot takes 1. The cliché of a thot trying to come between a guy and his friends 2. What the hell is a sea turtle doing in a cave? How did it even get there and what is it subsisting on? 3. Also how did a crocodile make it's way to a cave on top of a mountain and what incentive did it even have to climb a mountain? 4. How did a herd of sauropods make it through the cave it doesn't have a high ceiling 5. The fact that Alli is more concerned with getting some strange than helping Littlefoot save his grandfather 6. A Crocodile the greatest apex predator is struggling to kill 6 young animals 7. Petrie attempting to rescue Ducky in a way that's very counterintuitive It would've made more sense to attack the bird holding her hostage than play tug of war 8. The land of the mists inexplicably has clear skies at night 9. The nightflowers are bioluminesent seems an odd trait for medicinal plant to have 10. Grandpa recovered almost immediately after eating the night flowers making it seem more that he was just sleeping off a hangover
