There has always been something about the way Denziel speaks which I've always found to make perfect sense, and for me as a white guy of nearly 70 years, that's something so special and powerful. I pray his words go straight to God's ears for all our sakes.

Not really! Lots of children are brought up in single parent families and do just find. Plus: You can still have a father who can try to raise the boy the best he can but if the boy is not willing to listen, what’s the use of the father? & You can have a father but if The father is not wise enough to raise the boy, what happens to the boy?

@@minimead368you just said a whole lot of nothing it is statistically proven that young boy and girls without fathers usually end up worse. Boys have a higher chance of being in the streets and joining gangs and young girls end up pregnant at a young age. All this denying that fathers aren’t important just continues to further the cycle in our community.
@TheSaltyAdmiral

@@pulsaran Actually, the numbers are overwhelmingly on her side. If you look at all the people who grew up without a father figure, but _still_ had a stable loving home, good friends, good school and a supportive family and community, it's a shockingly small percentage that end up as criminals, just because one parent is missing. In a healthy society, a parent should just be one of many supporting pillars lifting up our children.

Mr Denzel Washington is a Man to follow by example. He is not only a great actor but is a very intelligent person! I’m blown away by His speech. I think this is the kind of speech that should be written in stone somewhere. It is pure brilliance! He has jumped to the lead of men to follow for life advice. GOD bless Him and You for showing this. He is a role model who is extraordinary by showing by example. If You believe in what He said, put it in to practice! Make Yourself better than You were yesterday. That speech is one for the record books. Pure Brilliance. Wow! Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Retired teacher here, poor children, immigrants, etc. Denzel speaks the truth. I always said something similar. If the parent(s) are absent, addicted or otherwise not on the job, there is no real family, and kids will find a family where they can. That is the same for all races. I taught Asians, Black kids, Latinos, and a few white kids too. Find a goal is good advice. Let job goals be legal, realistic, and sufficient to support a family. It's a grind, but pays off. God first always. Denzel has the Holy Spirit's inspiration.

Achieving one goal gives you purpose to achieve a bigger one. I'm 65 and spent too many years in the streets in a biker gang. I had to purposely force myself into another life, another mind so my children could have a better life. It started with saving up enough for a bus ticket to a different state. Today I own land, my children have college degrees and good jobs. It took me walking away from the life I had. You can do it. I see your heart is searching for a life with true meaning. You can do this!

People are starved for this message. What a empty life most of us live thinking only of our own selfish wants and desires, and pursue them at the expense of others and often time neglecting and inflicting pain on our fellow man. What a great suggestion to start every day on you knees, humbling yourself before God, giving thanks for all his many blessing, and seeking Him, and asking Him to help make you a better more thoughtful and giving person. A selfish, unthankful godless life leads to a miserable existence. The old bible verse, “ It is much better to give than receive “ is an undeniable truth and is the key to a happy fulfilling life.

“Those who do not listen, must feel.” During my youth - early 20’s I did not listen and was in and out of jail. It wasn’t until an old man grabbed me by the ears and set me straight with words of wisdom and belief I could do better. He gave me an opportunity to work and grow strong internally never allowing me to BS him. I was lucky this old man taught me then, because had he not, it is hard to tell where I would be today! Probably dead! Instead, I’m 58 and a grandfather who teaches his kids the true meaning of life. My point is, take a moment and mentor someone because it could save their life.

I love Denzel. This is an inspiring video. I guess I gotta make a daily goal, too. One is never too old! And I just turned 58 on the 3rd!

When you said “we people” THAT really impressed me. I say that all the time.

I've held Mr. Washington in high regard for his simple, yet profound belief, that real change occurs at the one on one level. We're dominoes, one affecting the next & so on down the line. People screeching at one another is Not that, & the loudest have the least ideas; rather like the Dem party right now, who're afraid of open dialogue because they've nothing to add. Anyone can tell by this reaction that Leo is enjoying listening to it; now listen to Larry Elders' back story about his father. Redemption.

My son is 11. He's so innocent. He's never seen physical violence in his life except on TV (UFC, movies etc) It's so unfathomable to me that 11 yo are doing this. How bad does the home have to be for that to be your escape....

I think I'm gonna make a poster of his quotes and put it in my office! They are words to truly live by...all of us!

Duuuuude, best bit of advice I got was: if you look back on your past self and don’t cringe, you haven’t grown as a person. Always keep bettering yourself, in every way you can. And yeah, Denzel just dropping deep truths and love.

Denzel can change so much with his words, such a great speaker. Hope they all heard and held on to his words.
