Africa’ was written by David Paich and Jeff Porcaro. Jeff Porcaro has stated that the song is about ‘a white boy’ who is ‘trying to write a song on Africa, but since he’s never been there, he can only tell what he’s seen on TV or remembers in the past.’ Meanwhile, David Paich has described the song as a romantic song, but it’s a love song about a continent, rather than a person.

Great song! This band started in the late 70's & has been performing for over 40 years now. They mix all types of genres in their sound. They have had some great hits such as "Rosanna", "Hold The Line", "I'll Supply The Love", "Georgy Porgy", "99", "Make Believe", "Stranger In Town", "I'll Be Over You", "Without Your Love", "Stop Loving You", "Pamela" etc.

Yup. The 80s were the best for music (70s a close 2nd). These were good days. Finally on my own as a young adult with a professional job, a great girlfriend (now my wife), and good friends. Always brings me back. Thank you for this reaction!

All of humanity originated in Africa. That wonderful beat, all of it, is deep withing all of us! My brother spends half his life in Africa. Mainly Tanzania. I have never been, but would love to some day.

Lovely reaction by an equally lovely young lady. I have made friends with several KZbinrs from Nigeria. My first guess would be you are from the Igbo Tribe of Nigeria. My Hausa Tribe friends tend to dress in more Muslin apparel and my Yoruba friends don't seem to pronounce the letter 'H'. Please... educate me. 🙂Great video. I loved it!! RNB

I've got a song that I think you should hear and i'm certain you'll love it. Karen Carpenter, what's the singer and partner in a Duo known as the carpenters and the very last song?She recorded before she passed away from Anna.Rexia nervosa was the song called now NO.W. I believe this is their best song of all. Certainly. It was one of Karen's best songs. It's my favorite and even though they've had many, many great songs. This will always be my favorite because it touches your heart in a way that only an angel can.. So again?The name of the song is now.I hope you'll review it and enjoy it.I think you'll find that a song that you may like listening to more than once.

Great song but I just wish they'd found another reference to Kilimanjaro or the Serengeti because the mountain, even though it's huge, doesn't rise "...like Olympus above the Serengeti..." You can't even see Kilimanjaro from the Serengeti savannah. Yes, I know that's unbearably pedantic but that's me.

There are big cultural differences. Imagine being raised in Africa for your whole teenage years through adulthood and then moving to live in Western world. Nigerian will miss their food, music, weather, traditions, Sunday worship etc. Then you come across this song and it makes you feel like you’re back home. Song produced by western people, that makes African person feel the spirit of motherland.
