Watching from Windsor, Ontario, Canada and I played golf with my 80 year old father today and he shot 89 and he wasn't happy with that. He's 80 but he's in great shape and he has a nice, easy golf swing and routinely shoots in the low 80's! But more importantly, it was a really nice day here, the weather was perfect and we had a great time out there and that's what it's all about! Great tips, great channel and keep up the great work!

Hey Todd, Neil from the UK here. Experienced golfer who has really been struggling with the driver. Big pulls left as a result of not transferring weight off the back foot as my stance was too wide meaning I couldn’t move the weight back away from the right foot. Narrowed my stance and I turn through so much better and the drives are so much better with no loss in distance. Thanks

Hello, I am from Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada and have been watching your most informative videos for some time. I watched this video with interest and have to say that I've tried using a long swing vs a short swing. I know I should be using a long swing. However, I have found two issues with this (1) Torquing and turning this much bothers my back...even with a closed stance and (2) I seem to be able to generate more power with a shorter swing and I also tend to be able to square the club face better using a shorter swing. Maybe if I practiced using the a longer swing this would work itself out?? I don't know....just my experience so far.

Hi, I’m Cherie from the Minneapolis area in Minnesota. I have 2 lower lumbar degenerated disks on my right side along with SI issues on my right side. I swing right handed, and I can’t turn my hips to the right unless I want to spend the next 2 weeks at the chiropractor fixing my back. I currently have a 3/4 swing like Claire does. Is there any hope for me to get more than 100-130 yards off the tee at 60 years old? Before my back gave out, I consistently shot between 100 and 115 in my late 30’s and early 40’s. I never broke 100, but did shoot 100 twice. I did this with 150-180 off the tee and 125-150 in the fairway with a 5 wood. I also had a really good short game, which I’m improving again now. I did purchase all new clubs a few years ago when I took up golf again after I saw a chiropractor for my back issues. I also replaced my driver and fairway woods in the last 2 years with loft and draw adjustability, which has helped. Thanks!

I’m a retired Touring Professional because of massive injuries. Even though my flexibility is less than when I was on tour, I’m striking the golf ball extremely solid. I had a reverse shoulder replacement in my left shoulder and so it’s difficult to take the club with the shoulder turn I once had but because I have used these tips and reminders of things I simply usually didn’t do I have only lost about 10 yards from my distance from when I played on Tour. I can’t play 2 or 3 days in a row because of pain but if I rest my body I can play at least 9 every other day and still routinely my scores are under par. Thank you so much

Todd, I'm 82 and playing better golf now than I did 20 years ago. A good drive for me is probably about 225 yards including roll. As result of arthritis in my hands, I have changed my grips on all clubs to Lamkin Crossline Oversize. I got rid of my slice by following your advice in various videos and reading your book. One thing I notice is that I find it hard to hit a draw. Most of my drives are pretty straight with some being a slight fade if I'm not careful. My concern is that the oversize grips are preventing a draw or making it harder to do. Is there something I can do to promote a little draw in my drives? I love a straight drive, but I'd like to have a little more control. My driver is an older Callaway10.5 set up with a slight draw bias.

Tucson, AZ -, 73 years old play twice a week. Two comments, I saw these tips several weeks ago and started using them, they work for me. I gained an easy 20 yards minimum. This is going to sound like an advertisement but it’s honest and true-I ordered and received the Maxvert driver to replace my $600 Callaway which I just could never make work. With the Maxvert, everything has changed, I’m in the fairway, I’m hitting it almost straight every time and couldn’t be more pleased. However, I still can’t seem to hit the center ball mark and am always just a smidge to the short side of it, the side where I am swinging from. I tried standing further away and then I slice, standing as I should be no slice, but not hitting it dead center, oh well? I’ll add three shoulder surgeries in my past so likely has something to do with it, but still the Maxvert rules!

Hey Todd. I purchased the Maxvert driver a couple of months ago. One of my golfing partners said I was hitting my old driver (Taylor made SIM 2) further. So I replaced the max vert with my Sim 2. I was a little disappointed and surprised at the same time. I’m hitting the Taylor made about 40 yards further than the maxvert. Is there any chance I can return it? I’m disappointed because I thought this would be the answer to getting more distance with my driver.

Rich, I was hoping the MaxVert would benefit me too. It hasn't. Disappointed. I bought the MaxVert hybrid as well, and have trouble getting ball off the ground with it.

Great question. The key to good driving is consistent distance and keeping the ball in play, this is what you want to be gauging. Too often we are blinded by the "one drive" that goes forever and forget the 3 in the weeds and 1 that went OB. Next time out, track the consistency of your distance on ALL drives and see if that makes a difference. Hope that helps...

I still haven’t had a reply from Todd. So I don’t know if we can return it or not.

We like to keep the game simple, it is hard enough. No reason to over complicate it in our opinion. The Vertical Line Swing is based on easy to understand concepts.

Todd I was born with pullans syndrome!!! my right hand is half the size of my left which makes my follow through very challenging, I am a left handed golfer my swing speed is around 80 I am thinking a cause is I was born with no right pectoral muscle!! My question should i use standard lengths clubs my height of my wrist are 32.5 and 36 and what would be the right ball for me to be hitting?? thank you for your attention.

Really good question, have you done a club fitting with a professional? They might be able to provide the best solution regarding club length.

From Richmond, VA - recently had a "power failure" with the driver. My club pro zeroed in on my hips immediately and had me regaining my lost distance. Spot on with what you are talking about here. Can't wait to get on the range and experiment with your tips. Great set up and swing thoughts.

Shoulders are slightly closed to the target line. You can learn the entire Vertical Line Swing System in our book THE BAD LIE which can be found on Amazon.
