67 year old have benn carnivore since I was 60 at that time I was told I had bad t2d and fatty liver disease and had 18 months to 2 years to live. I was 378 lbs. And walked with a cane. Had IBS and acid reflux bad. High blood pressure and was on two meds for that also had asthma and COPD bad my total pharma bill per month was $860.00 . Today I'm on 0 meds. No longer have fatty liver disease, t2d, asthma, COPD, IBS, and I'm down 140 lbs . This fall I backpacked part of the Appalachian trail in Pennsylvania and walk 8 to 10 miles a day so when people or Doctors tell me I'm going to kill my self on a carnivore diet I just say I was told 7 years ago that I was going to die eating the standard American diet so what's the concern!

They know absolutely nothing about health, and are only half-competent in diagnosis as well. They are obligated to their professional overseer bodies, insurance companies, and gov. mandates, and have largely been reduced to white-coated drug-pushers. We were not born attached to a doctor. Perhaps a surgeon, if you need stiches or broken bones fixed. My chiropractor is basically my primary health provider. Even for years before carnivore. Get over the fear when you feel bad. It will pass. Your body is your primary care physician.

I tried so many vegetables, tried slowly increasing fiber intake, tried mixing the soluble/insoluble fiber ratios, tried avoiding certain foods using the FODMAP chart, tried germinating things like nuts, tried different cooking methods to make them easier to digest and palatable, tried avoiding certain foods from eating together in same meal, and tried all these methods across the span of months to a year to try to adapt to them over time. Every time, bloating, gas, tired, weighed down, constipated, bad sleep, and when I did manage to sleep in, it was often for 12-16 hours because all the previous days felt terrible. Science is not what nutrition folks are talking about. They says they are but they have no idea what real science is. Science is testing your ideas and changing the idea when the test proves it to be wrong. Nutrition studies do no testing. They just make things up and then write papers about the things they made up. Even back when they said eggs were bad, they were wrong and they knew it, but the egg producers would kink back to them so they were deemed bad.

Because of what I've been taught via government health structure, Mom, the medical industry that veggies are crucial to health. And all my life I've lived by that theory, I also have always eaten meat, but small portions of meat cause I was told by all professionals that a serving of meat is the palm of your hand. Also lived most of my adult life eating an abundance of veggies and white lean meats mostly, and I've always struggled with hunger, being overweight and my health. I've been carnivore 8 months now and my health is getting better but I still have a way to go. I totally believe now, not only because if what I've learned in the last year but also because I lived the experience of my own personal struggles. And how carnivore had reversed issues I've been dealing with my whole life.

I taught my daughters to question EVERYTHING, even what I am telling them. Most people are painfully willing, happy even, to just let someone else tell that "this is how it is" instead of putting any effort into looking into whether that person has their best interests in mind of if they have an ulterior motive. So many just go along with what Dad says, or go full Waterboy and start with the "momma says" nonsense. They just accept that what this person is saying is the truth and then they wonder why things didn't work out the way they hoped. The vast, VAST majority of the human race is perfectly happy to go along with the status quo simply because someone they respect told them to. And in many cases they don't even know WHY they respect that person other than someone ELSE told them to. It really baffles me how most people think. My Asperger's is a true gift in that my natural state is to see beyond the BS. I don't have to look behind the curtain because I can see right through it.

Then in march 2014 I started a keto diet and cut out all veggies and fruits except a little amount of broccoli with most of my meals, and rarely a few berries, believing that there were nutrients I needed in those plants. I did feel better than ever, until late 2019 when I saw Dr Baker on Rogan talking about the carnivore diet. I decided to experiment once again and started weaning off the remaining plants I was eating. Soon I felt - and still feel - even better than I had on my prior six years of ketovore style of eating. I'm 58 by the way. I've also been resistance training consistently since late 2010, about 3 years before I started eating keto. Looking at Homo sapiens fossil remains, and fossil Homo sapiens poop, we find that, for the most part, we ate game/ meat. That said, in some cases we ate some plants. However as we discovered agriculture, we ate more plants, and our health/ longevity decreased. This is a well known fact in anthropology. So, I look to more recent evidence, pueblo Indians of the southwest. Here we see Hunter gatherer groups influenced by southern cultures that had used agriculture. At first this was a boon to their caloric intake, becoming a survival food, a supplement to hunting, and gathering. Over a period of time they became more and more reliant on plants from sustenance. Population growth, land use issues, lower rainfall (climate change? There was a lot of slash and burn agriculture going on. Just a thought). The culture collapsed. For me, is a cautionary tale.

@ that is one source for sure. I worked with some archaeologists that did a lot of research in the southwest, and I’ve visited many ruins. My interest in ancient farming techniques of the region led me to the same conclusion as Diamond’s. The evidence is there.
@curtismatsune314713 күн бұрын
I have an honest, good faith question: You're leaving out the fact that agriculture catapulted our species from the top of the food chain to the absolute pinnacle of totally unprecedented world domination. From an objective scientific standpoint why doesn't that mean agriculture has been the hands down most successful adaptation of any species to ever exist and therefore that plant foods were and are key to our evolutionary success?
@gardencompost25913 күн бұрын
@ good question. First, is domination an evolutionary success? By being the dominant species on the planet, we have done some considerable amount of overreach. In other words, we are not in balance with our environment, the environment that ultimately supports us, and many other species both flora, fauna, and mycelia. We can keep doing business as usual, and head straight into total collapse. Or we can evolve our thinking to a more sustainable, balanced, connected species by living closer to the planet’s natural, not some domination mindset. We evolved eating animals and animal products, this is closer to our biology. Eating plants has always been a way to survive when game was scarce. When I look at the fossil record in Homo sapiens, plant food was a survival food, not a long term diet.
@curtismatsune314713 күн бұрын
@@gardencompost259 I see your points but I happen to disagree as follows: - Regarding being out of balance with the environment, where is the evidence of that? I know what the establishment powers-that-be are telling us but they've been caught in lies upon lies upon lies so why should I believe them on anything? I live in Southern California, one of the most densely populated regions on the planet, and I can tell you objectively that the short period of pollution in the 1960s and 70s has long been solved. Air quality is pristine now and has been for decades. I catch trophy sized game fish right from amongst multitudes of surfers on Huntington Beach ("Surf City, USA", among the most visited beaches in the world) and I see juvenile grey whales that are supposedly on the verge of extinction frolicking in the breakers. I have a choice here -- believe my own lying eyes or believe serial liars with big money incentives for their lies. I choose my own lying eyes. - Humans evolved as omnivores; it's self-evident in our dentition, digestive tract and the paleoarchaeological record. From the NIH: "Humans and the great apes (bonobos, chimpanzees, gorillas, and orangutans) share a common gut anatomy, consisting of a simple stomach, small intestine, a [see come] terminating in an appendix, and a hindgut consisting of a large intestine, [rek tum], and [aay nal] canal." (Bracketed words written phonetically to avoid censorship.) There are tooth assays and rock grinding sites showing that humans consumed plants in abundance and processed grains as far back as Neanderthal some 400k years ago. Processing grains is highly labor intensive, and where there are enough grasslands available to make it worthwhile there will be herding ruminants in abundance as well -- modern grasslands make this abundantly clear. So the only reason for processing grains would be omnivorous preference. Occam's Razor indicates that we evolved to prefer a wide variety of foods as our primary evolutionary adaptation, which ultimately led to agriculture.

I know for a fact that I was WAY less healthy when I ate plants. Of course, this was an easy one for me because my institutional trust has been broken for more than 20 years now. Once you realize that almost everything that they say is intended to keep you impoverished, sickly, and powerless, adding yet another BS myth to your model of reality is simple. On the flip side of this, the reason why people fight so damned hard against questioning anything like this is not that this one truth would be so hard to swallow. The problem is that if they allow themselves to realize that something so fundamental to their belief system is simply 100% wrong, it means that literally everything foundational to their entire conception of existence could be wrong. The subconscious knows this, and fights like hell against it.

It is interesting that many families had to force their kids to eat vegetables when they were young. I know many times my parents would tell me that I could not get up until I eat my vegetables. Meat was never an issue and very welcome at the kitchen table. When I started in Keto, I would try and include the few low carb veggies but I later felt that I really did not need or want the veggies, thus my journey into Carnivore. I have not looked back since although I must say that it is hard sometimes to keep straight Carnivore but I feel better when I do not stray.

I was at Barnes and Noble to find a book. The vegan/vegetarian cookbook section wasn’t named that, it was called ‘Healthy Eating’. Ten years ago, I would have believed that greenwashing. The Seventh-Day Adventist Church was prominent where I grew up, then the hippy/Eastern Religion vegetarianism made that diet seem relevant to young people and being progressive. It will take lots of backtracking to figure out how the entire culture went wrong.

You do not need fruit and vegetables to be healthy. We evolved to eat primarily meat. Meat, eggs, fish, poultry, animal foods. That doesn't mean we can't have some fruit and vegetables seasonally, opportunistically as long as they are organic and free of chemicals and pesticides. When we came across a bush with ripe berries, we ate berries. If we came across a beehive and someone was brave enough to get the honey, we had honey. But we didn't eat these foods everyday. The fruit and vegetables we have in our supermarkets have been grown in depleted soil. Because we don't have animals fertilizing the fields anymore, chemical fertilizers are used. Pesticides and herbicides, glyphosate for example is everywhere. These chemicals are damaging the environment, they aren't good for humans or animals. The nutritional value of fruits and vegetables today is significantly less than it was 50 years ago when they were grown in fields that were fertilized by animals. You still get the anti-nutrients but now you get them with less nutritional value and more chemicals. We also have to recognize that the vitamins and nutrients in plant foods are less biologically available. Again, that doesn't mean we have to avoid all fruits and vegetables but we do have to recognize that they are not the paragons of health we have been taught. And please, whatever you choose to eat, avoid processed food. Avoid all fast food, avoid things with grain and seed oils, they are oxidized and pro-inflammatory. Fruits and vegetables aren't great but they're better than processed food. Better still by far, eat meat. Preferably grass-fed, grass finished at least some of the time. It's better for the animals, better for the environment and better for us. I should write shorter comments, I bet they'd be voted up more!

They are now finding ways to adulterate our meat. If cattle are fed hay sprayed with Grazon for board leaf weeds and you compost that manure, that animal manure can destroy gardens for years, making them not fit to grow anything but grasses. I will not use manure from animals I haven't raised. These chemicals can't be good for the body or my gardens. PS I use regenerative farming practices, which requires animal husbandry. I don't have Acers of land, so my protien mostly comes from chicken and duck meat and eggs. I only raise dual purpose birds. Wish I had room for larger animals, but I don't

@Kyarrix16 күн бұрын
@@Musicman-y7vA little bit of organic fruit is better than potatoes, potatoes are not a great food to eat. Paul Saladino will tell you that honey is good but he surfs for hours everyday. He burns it off. Still it's not a bad food to have occasionally but probably not ideal to have a lot of honey everyday. If you are healthy, athletic, don't have any underlying inflammatory issues, you can probably enjoy your honey. I used to put honey in my coffee but when I went keto and then carnivore I stopped. We got an espresso machine and I learned that great coffee really doesn't benefit from sweetener. I was surprised at that, I used to think that people who said that coffee is better without sugar or honey were pretentious but they're right, a great shot of espresso doesn't benefit from sugar or honey. I make an Americano, I add some hot water and heavy cream and it is very good. Try to get local honey. Be sure to buy it in glass containers, not plastic if you can. Local honey can give you additional benefits because it contains pollen from the plants in your area.

I know from first hand experience, spanning over at least 4 years, that fruits and vegetables are healthy. I tend to juice them for the most part, easier to get more variety that way. When I consume the juice, I can feel the energy, I can see and feel the results from week to week. Never felt that way after eating meat. But I've also never tried a carnivore diet. But it's my understanding that even on carnivore they recommend fruits and veggies. The main issue today is that no one seems to know what the official diet should look like on a species level. Some animals eat bugs for their diet, but there's only a small list of bugs they can actually consume and thrive on. So I believe that you should be eating fruits and veggies, but the question is which ones on the list are considered specific to our diet?
