such a beautiful layout , lighting is spot on and makes such a difference . i can remember when there were only that ammount of cars on the road !!!
@ThatModelRailwayGuy Жыл бұрын
Yes the lighting was very good and very handy for filming! The only thing was that the pelmet seemed very close to the scenery making it feel a bit claustrophobic. Not an issue for the camera though! Thanks for watching 😃

By far the best N gauge layout I've ever seen - after 50+ years going to exhibitions
@ThatModelRailwayGuy Жыл бұрын
It's certainly up there in terms of ambition and scope for any model railway, not just N Gauge! Thanks for watching 😃

I went to the show at Milton Keynes and the punters were standing 6 deep gawping at the Waterman trains going up and down. This place however kept me for half an hour. At times you could see five things happening at once. Truly enthralling. And to top it all City of Coventry was on shed! Gentlemen this IS a model railway, not only an amazing feat of engineering to get it to work so smoothly, but also display of artistic and craft skills, a place of wonder and dreams come true.

Personally I think all layouts have their own merits and serve their respective audiences. The Making Tracks layouts are a true spectacle and have done wonders for engaging the general public in the hobby. Meanwhile layouts like James Street show that a whole world can be created in miniature form, shunting layouts can intrigue the mind and act as a puzzle and other layouts serve as a historical reminder for days past. That's the beauty of this hobby, creativity knows no bounds and there really is something for everyone. Thanks for watching 😃

This is one amazing layout, I love locos and rolling stock everywhere on a layout, so many tracks going everywhere, brilliant 😀

Yeah it's great having the marshalling yards to store trains in before they make their way out onto the mainline. I imagine it's quite a handful to operate! Thanks for watching 😃

Seen this layout a few times over the years, Alexandra Palace 2023 was the last a lot of additions over lock down, a very impressive N gauge layout, runs well too.

Yes I read about it in Hornby Magazine back in 2020 and was hoping to see it at GETS that year but obviously that didn't happen so it was god to finally see it in person. I think they must have been having issues when I did see it though as there was a lot of hammering going on and hand of god interventions that I had to edit out 😅 Thanks for watching 👍

I saw this layout back in 2021, it was partially unfinished but still incredible.
@ThatModelRailwayGuy Жыл бұрын
I think it's still unfinished even now. If you look closely at the Dock Yard buildings they're just card mockups so I presume that area is still being worked on. Thanks for watching 😃

I’ve never been much of an n gauge enthusiast, but this layout is clearly very well built and run. I love the opening shot of the cars under the bridge, and the bridge running behind the engine shed as well. Great video :)

It's a superb layout isn't it! You can really tell how much passion has been put into modelling the overall scene and the little details around it. It feels like an entire city with a railway running through it! Thanks for watching 😃

I've never been able to make up my mind as to which approach to railway modelling I prefer: is it the sort of maximist layout you show here with action and detail everywhere you look, or a layout where there's 1 or 2 lines snaking their way through the landscape (a la Mouldy Raspberry). My conclusion is I like both! Thanks for sharing.
@ThatModelRailwayGuy Жыл бұрын
I'm very similar in that I like both as well! If you're familiar with my modular layout, that's a single track branchline that works on the "less is more" concept... but at exhibitions I love seeing epic layouts like this where there's plenty to feast your eyes on. If you haven't seen them I'd definitely recommend checking out my videos from Pendon Museum. It's a wonderful mix of both concepts with the railway fitting into the open landscape - it's just that the landscape around the railway is on a massive scale! Thanks for watching 😃
@stephendavies6949 Жыл бұрын
Yes, I've watched the Pendon videos and most of your others too! Good to know I'm not the only model railway enthusiast with "eclectic" tastes.

How big is it? It looks like you only filmed one corner of it
@ThatModelRailwayGuy Жыл бұрын
Hi James, it's 22' x 12'9" with the layout being scenic on all 4 sides. I filmed on 3 sides of the layout (the 4th was where the operators were mostly standing). Thanks for watching 😃
