Venezianico reminds me of beautiful Italian styling and each of their designs looks like art. This in particular reminds me of Orthodox/Catholic Icons having a similar tone to the dial.. Its beautiful! Take care Kieran!

That's exactly the vibe I think they want with their brand. Italian class.... you know? And fair play to them, they're doing a good job at delivering that. I'm just happy when brands are doing different stuff, yano? playing around with colours and designs. Makes my job a lot easier :)

Absolutely agree with the size issue. And it really surprised me! Many of their special editions would easily appeal to women! Especially the semi precious stone dial ones. But a 49mm lug to lug?! That will unfashionably seesaw on many wrists….. Other than the ultra black 36 all the other 36’s are blah…..

It actually wears rather comfortably. I just think it has a very imposing figure on a wrist like mine. You have to have the confidence to wear it (which I do, but many won't). I'd love to see something like this in a 38mm case with a Swiss movement!

Great review! This watch looks beautiful and I do agree on the size, I prefer 40mm and smaller so a lot of their watches are a miss for me. I do own the last Nereide 39mm, the GMT 39mm, Historia Temporis and Bellanotte... I wanted to add the Black Ultraleggero to my collection but find them big... Oh well, gonna keep waiting for smaller interesting ones! Cheers!

I stumbled on to this Brand about a month ago, and just within the last 72 hours... I slept on a Ebay Bid and missed out on this Model watch, but with White Dial and Pepsi Bezel... that sold for $157!!! So Bummed.

I had the Nereide GMT 39 in gray and it was fine but ultimately unimpressive. It's the perfect boring watch if you want a GMT that does the job with no beauty or interest.

That's an interesting one! What about the watch did you find boring? Because the colours on the GMT range look like a ton of fun! I've not heard someone call a Venezianico boring yet.

@@TopTierTicker Everything. The dial was boring, the design was boring, the hands were boring. The Canova bracelet is really ugly, and not particularly well-built. I was incredibly disappointed. There are SO many better options in the microbrand space under $1k. I was just glad I was able to sell it for what I paid.

I've just done some reading on this. The old brand name was 'Meccaniche Veneziane'. And I can't find anything negative about the brand. Feel free to share some information here regarding your statement. And please point me towards some actual evidence too. Genuinely interested to know more.

Its like the 10th different version of this model. Yes they offer a new bracelet this time but in the other models the only thing that change was the dial. And look, its not 500 limited. They have 300 more. Again a scummy tactic that they used before. Saying its limited and when they sold out, more appear by magic.

All that glitters is not gold. You said that they put more the focus on aesthetics than on functionality, but it is not exactly like that, this watch is the pure result of marketing research. It's trying to mix up all the possible appealing points (gold color, shining, rolex like clasp, breitling like multilinks bracelet...), but IMHO without success. It's big, chunky, disproportionate and not really original. A sad wannabe and, on top, it is also quite expensive. Tissot, Mido, Zodiac, Squale, Seiko, Citizen, there are a lot of better watches in that price range, watches with a past and hopefully a future. If you are a tourist in Venice you could buy a Nereide like a souvenir (really expensive one), no more than this. Ciao from Italy.
