Man..... I would be absolutely okay with the old Dirt stages being included in 2.0, but having to pay for them through DLC is just insulting. I love Codemasters but this isn’t right.
@Snipes4325 жыл бұрын
Well, updating the content to the newer engine, with the new capabilities (road degradation) is an effort that needs to be repayed. It's not that they just dumped it into DR 2.0. The ice patches are now much more significant, and are finally dangerous even outside the "ice" region of the track. And it's not like they are asking a ridiculous price. They are asking 3.5e, which is less than you would pay for one beer in most western countries. It is also less that most games ask for stupid visual DLCs.
@michaelw62775 жыл бұрын
@@Snipes432 I absolutely understand that it required a certain level of effort. But it seems like that level of effort is still dramatically less than all the work required to build new stages from the ground up and could have been a great addition to the base game. I enjoy Codemasters titles enough that I'm happy to pay full price for them, but if this is how they're going to push DLC I feel like I'm better off waiting for their games to go on sale.
@HeretixAevum5 жыл бұрын
I'm fine with it because they are actually pricing the DLC very reasonably which is more than I can say for many other games. Also, I think DR2.0 actually breathes a lot of new life into these old stages. Monte looks way nicer visually and is a much better drive with the physics, the ice is way more appropriately slippy now than it was, and despite the criticisms I still think the regular tarmac physics are a noticeable step up from DR. I look forward to reliving the other DR locations as they come. That said, I do hope future DLC will bring at least a couple of new locations. The two I really want to see are Japan and Rally Safari. That way we'd have every continent.

I think it would have went over better if they had made like 2 of the base game stages these updated DR1 stages and made the DLC 2 new stages and one more updated one. Monte Carlo in DR2 is absolutely amazing. It's worth every cent of those 3.5 euro they ask for it. Ignore the whiners that complain endlessly about how it's old content and should be free and whatever, and get it now. You won't regret it. It's been transformed from what it has been in DR1 and feels completely different (for the better). BTW, I find it really strange how people complain that they have to pay for "old content" that was already included in the old game. Chances are you own more than one track racing sim, and if that's the case, you've paid for what should by your standards be considered "old content" many times over now - be it tracks or cars. The tracks don't really change, the cars don't really change - they are just "ported" for the given game, making use of its technologies. Well, it's basically the same here - the stages didn't really change in itself, but they've been updated to new standards and new technologies available in DR2. So why should they be free? Plus, honestly, it's 3.5 euro for the Monte Carlo rally. You probably pay more for a lunch on a daily basis.

Finally had time to start the My Team career in this game last night with VR. First rally was Varmland Sweden. "Okay, I think I can handle this." Had a free choice of cars to select from. I didn't want to just jump immediately to the top speed cars, so I decided to go with an older car... and I picked the Lancia Stratos... The Stratos in Varmland, with the first stage blanketed in snow... it was so freaking hard. I was living in the 40-60% throttle range for most of the stage it felt like. Spun two or three times on the stage that should've taken me less than 7m30s. Finished a minute and a half off the pace. Next three stages were "dry" - no snow. I managed to win the rally by less than a second. I was totally blown away that I won the rally after dropping 90 seconds in the first stage. So cool.

CM did tell us that all three locations from the first season DLC would consist of the same stages as in DR1 but with improved graphics, the new physics model and some other minor details. You can't say you are disappointed if you knew exactly what was coming. If you are disappointed it's not their fault but your own, isn't it? I love the completely different feel the physics offer on the stages though. I've always wanted a proper Monte Carlo and they found a lovely balance between realism (being almost impossible to reach any speed on the ice and snow) and decent pace. I'm not rallying to get the quickest stage times or world record times but I'm just having a blast on these stages. I must say that Monte Carlo has knocked Poland off the top spot as my favourite location. What is strange is that I prefer the soft tyre option on the Monte Carlo stages as it offers me a more "realistic experience", I believe. I know it's the slowest tyre but still, it's so much more fun and a bigger challenge. I think there are others out there who feel the same way, if I'm not mistaken.

Umm, not trying to boast, but I'm really wondering if something is set to beginner mode with my setup - I've got 65h in the game after buying a used Logitech G27 a month ago, all assists are switched off (AFAICT - are there any settings besides the options>assists?), have seen this video an hour ago, and just gave it a try - and I think my time doesn't look bad compared to Jim's. That shouldn't happen. I'm certainly not a naturally-talented sports person and haven't been driving racing games much at all in the last 10 years. So I need to ask, did something significant change about Dirt Rally 2.0 in the meantime, making my 2022 time uncomparable to Jims from 2019? Or is it just a setup question? The default tune for the Porsche is not great for snow IMO - I figured it would need all the traction it could get, so I decreased rear camber, switched the diffs to maximum lock, raised 1st+2nd a bit taller to make it easier to shoot out those hairpins, decreased the spring rate and removed the rear anti-roll bar. Oh, also rather rear-biased braking (no surprise there in a Porsche). Basically, took me three test runs (and a jump-start), including finding the setup from scratch.

Damages seem unrealistic, tapping a tree rarely ends well in reality. Would like an entire ice covered stage, drifting fun.

It is a rally simulation, you shouldnt tap a tree, it would been good if they made good damage possible but most brands stop selling the license.

Sweden is coming in a few weeks. Though we will almost certainly be running studded tyres there, so the grip will likely be higher than here in Monte Carlo and closer to gravel.

Yeah because it would be really fun if everytime you tap something you just fold into a black hole
