I have always been a VW fan my 2007 Beetle is like driving a go cart on a rail, it’s just the 2.5 I can’t imagine how fun it would be with the turbo version..

Those are sweet rides. I looked at the GTi 8 years ago but couldn't do it, those seats killed my back and they didn't have power anything, plus there were some other negatives to it that I can't recall now, but it is what it is.

Man…I wanted the R so bad. Went to the dealer hoping to get the one they had in the showroom. However, the insane interest rates ruined my chances and ended up getting the black GTI SE that was next to it with the leather package. Only thing I liked better about the GTI is the overall appearance. I prefer the front fascia and the interior colors BUT still disappointed I didn’t get the R. Got the APR intake installed last week…sounds awesome! Even with the cover. Tune coming next…debating between APR and 034.

GTIs are rad! Enjoy!

Sounds good, Austin! Are you planning on getting a tune or doing any further modifications in the future? I've heard many times that the GTI/Golf Rs really are kind of boring to drive (even though they're very capable) until you start modifying them. A common complaint seems to be that they're too subdued in stock form. Never driven either myself so I don't know how accurate that is, but I've seen that same line from multiple sources.

I would love to tune it and they respond well. I would need a new clutch though. The feedback you heard is correct imo
@saviordream7 ай бұрын
@@Gonin60 Yeah, I've heard those VWs respond crazy well to tunes. And you have Integrated Engineering (I believe that's the company) right in your backyard, so it would be quite easy for you to go to them and have them do all sorts of things with the car. Is it worth putting in the money though when I don't know if you're planning on keeping the car long term?

@@Gonin60just go low torque or apr plus. No clutch needed. Some people do ok with the stock clutch even on high torque files.

one of the first mods I did on my R was to turn off the soundaktor. Did the same thing on my MK7 GTI.

@@HAMMER-V100 I don’t keep my cars very long. 6 months to a year. I had an opportunity to buy a golf r at sticker. Loved the Wrx and nothing bad or wrong with that platform whatsoever

@@Gonin60 I waited 2 years to finally have the Golf R at sticker... ha... glad I did. the 2024's should hold their value well being the last year the US will offer the manuals. Of course I couldn't keep mine stock for long. I've already modded the @#$% outta it.
