UPDATE regarding Sega-CD compatibility issues with flash carts. The Sega-CD functionality of the EverDrive Pro was not working at the time of filming. As has been discovered later, this was due to a firmware bug of the EverDrive Pro, which had an issue with the Master System mode wire on the Nomad chipset. Sega-CD functionality has been confirmed to be working with the latest version of the EverDrive Pro firmware. This is great news for this mod as you can play Sega cd games on the go!

I'll never forget the very first time I ever played a Nomad. I was in 6th grade and my school bus driver (who was also a professional clown and owned a roller skating rink) handed out games and candy to all the kids that got on the bus so long as you return the games when you got off. I would just sit there right behind him and play the Nomad and talk about Red Dwarf with that bus driver. He was so awesome.

For those of you that don’t know what Vinegar Syndrome is. I’ll be more than glad to tell you: LCDs (on Sega Game Gears and Nomads) have polarizer filters glued to the front and rear of the glass LCD displays. As LCDs age (….and that goes for all LCD displays), the glue or adhesive dries up, sours out, cracks, and becomes brittle detaching the polarizer filters, rendering the display looking very ugly, and completely useless, since you need these polarizer films to see the images on the display, like you would on a TV.

This is way outta my price and skill range, but I nevertheless have to ask if that soft reset will make X-Men playable from start to finish on this system. As far as games that would be good to test with the 10MHz mode, I'd suggest Tengen's polygonal games, particularly Hard Drivin' and the "what were they thinking?" port of Steel Talons. Also Zero Tolerance and Cybercop/Corporation, although I don't think anything can salvage the latter game.

Overclocking is beneficial for games like Road Rash, depending on the game coding, software scaling etc, I believe FIFA and other EA games also benefit from it, as well as simulation games like LHX Attack Chopper, which is heavy on the CPU and others that slow down due to many sprites on screen, like Sonic losing rings, etc. For a quick test, load any Road Rash and activate the overclocking while playing and you'll notice the difference. On emulators, you can overclock up to 200%, it will make the game run smoother, anything beyond that will make the game run too fast.

@@MachoNachoProductions In terms of 3D; Bloodshot/Battle Frenzy, Zero Tolerance, Kawasaki Super Bikes all benefit. I can't imagine trying to play full games on this tiny screen, holding all that hardware. It was really cool back in the day though.

great kit, hopefully more and more of these happen for other consoles! (some already have similar)

This looks amazing. I wish I had the skill to install this on my Nomad

If you don’t do all the extra mods it should be a drop in kit 😁

@@MachoNachoProductions It's amazing that they have those options. But I want all the options! I'll be looking around for an installer for sure

My eyes fell out of my head when you said the cost of the mod was 22,000, but then you said Yen, and then I thought oh ok that's fair hahaha.

Looks cool but I'd rather play Genesis games on my moded dual IPS New 3ds XL or my phone with an OLED display

I would follow him on Twitter. He will announce when the next batch will be ready. He is already working on an upgraded version. Cheers!

I would like to see a larger screen with better quality. 2 replacement speakers and larger capacity battery. Maybe version 2.0

Looks amazing! I've always thought Sega should have marketed the nomad as the successor to the game gear when the Saturn came out. Akin to the way they did with the master system and the game gear. With the Genesis badass existing library it could have been more popular and devs could have kept making Genesis games 😎

Isn't it weird? The Sega Nomad was only released in U.S, yet this mod was designed and only sold in Japan....

This is amazing. What is the best tool to expose the trace in the stereo mod?
@MachoNachoProductions2 жыл бұрын
I just used an craft knife to gently scrape off the solder mask to expose the trace
