The whole Beetlejuice marrying Lydia thing is creepy, but I think the idea in the story is less that he's creeping on her (in this particular scene, anyway) and more that he's trying to cement "citizenship" in the world of the living by marrying someone who's still alive. The house itself is not real. It was just a facade and it was torn down after filming then rebuilt in the exact same place for the sequel. The exteriors were filmed in East Corinth, Vermont where most of the town in the movie still exists. You just can't visit the house. You'd have to make do with looking at an empty hill. I read that the roof was just canvas, painted to look like the roof and when they filmed on location they used giant fans to pressurise the house so the canvas expanded and looked like it was real.
