One thing to consider is that OLC's business is pretty much just Tokyo Disney and hotel management. Also, employee salaries and benefits are laughable compared with the US parks. For DIsney, theme parks are just one segment of the megacorporation. Profits from that help to make up for losses in other segments.

@@jph4852I mean many cast members were living in their cars or getting their hours cut a lot. Not to mention pay starts at $18 which isn’t really enough considering the very high cost of living in Anaheim/orange county. To be fair we have no idea if the same happens at the overseas Disney parks but so far there’s been no reports. But I know at least here in California disney should step up their game in terms of how the treat and pay cast members

What I like about Fantasy Springs is that it feels like Disney returning to its roots. Tangled is like a classic Fantasyland dark ride that only focuses on one part of the story. Peter Pan lets guests experience iconic moments from the movie without caring about story canon. Frozen is a fairytale ride with conflict (though the Hans stuff could have been done better). Tinkerbell is a unique smaller-scale attraction thats not just another type of spinner. This would feel right at home at Disneyland (and while I am mostly against clones, its fine when both parks involved have a lot of high quality exclusives like Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea).

The thing about Fantasy Springs is that it cost 320billion Yen (~2billion USD) to build. Disney will never spend that much money to make something this high quality for the parks they control. It's just not how they operate anymore :/ Also, Fantasy Springs likely has pretty long exclusivity agreements for these rides given how much they paid for it.

It took decades for The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast to get rides, but I hope some of the other Disney Renaissance films start getting some love now that we're talking expansions. I am not convinced any of Fantasy Springs will leave Japan. Looking at all the exclusive rides that originated from Disney Sea, none of them have made it to the states (Journey to the Center of the Earth, Aquatopia, etc.) Fantasy Springs was built for two reasons: more family friendly rides and adding more Disney IP to Disney Sea. The parks in the US do not suffer from these issues as all the parks include an abundant of IPs and family friendly attractions. Plus, there are already Frozen and Peter Pan rides in WDW. I think the idea and concepts that Fantasy Springs reintroduced to the parks will eventually find their way to the states, but I do not think we will have any of these same attractions in any other Disney park.

Not to pile in any controversy, but there's alot about Fantasy Springs that feels like the unfulfilled potential of New Fantasyland. An immersive area full of state-of-the-art attractions that still hold true to the roots of the original dark rides of Fantasyland. I don't know about bringing the whole area over as it is, but if there was ever another planned Fantasyland refresh in the works, I'd use Fantasy Springs as the guide to go by.

I absolutely love how breath taking and unique this area is. Sure we’ve see some similar stuff but this is done in such a cool and different way. It feels like every ride, corner, and area is just detailed to the brim. I love the scenes but I thought that the frozen and both Peter Pan rides would be much shorter so that’s good. I do wish the Rapunzel bride had maybe one or two more scenes, but It still looks like an amazing experience especially for couples. I wish we could see a form of a ride in the new fantasyland one day.

This was back when disney thought a Japan park would be a hokey local park and purposely didn't invest in it themselves and instead made it more like a license deal. Or do you have a better reason why not a single original ride from OLC has been replicated at any other park? BTW: is the exclusivity 5 years for opening rides or break ground on them? You said tron opened in 2017 and was supposed to open in magic kingdom in 2021. That’s 4 years including construction. So my guess the mouse exclusivity is from opening to opening which makes sense AND fits Disneyland forward. BTW: off topic but my guess for DCA expansion must include Coco-land including the land of the dead as depicted in the movie. It makes so much sense for SoCal that it should be an exclusive land.

I agree with you about the animation court yard in Hollywood. Unfortunately, they will probably never tear that down. As it’s connected to an office building and a parking deck. Unless Disney builds a new corporate office in Florida. I don’t see that happening for that area.

I've looked at a few POVs of the Peter Pan attraction and the ride does look very similar to The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man and Transformers.

Yeah, but it actually looks pretty solid ngl. The physical sets and a few moving set pieces at least gives the ride some kinda kintecism and fleshes out a few scenes. Probably beats Transformers but I wouldn’t say Spider-Man.

They could do rides on this level but not with those ips at the Disneyland parks. That way they don't have to wait to make them. They have a lot of movies that don't have any rides. And maybe doing what could be classed as a less popular movie could bring up the movie again. Like as an example if kids on on an Oliver and company ride, Disney may see an increase in watches of the movie and merchandise based on the characters.

Seems like a stretch if western disney parks will ever get anything from Tokyo parks. The Disney company here isn’t THAT generous. Tho I’d like to be wrong. However, if we hypothetically do get it, I’d imagine the budget hammer will not be kind to us. OLC really gets all the good stuff….

I love your idea about bringing it to Hollywood Studios, it seems to fit there (but where in the park? I don’t know). I agree that in the Magic Kingdom, there’s a lot of other lands/rides that will fill the Beyond Big Thunder (c’mon Disney Villains, uh, land? Realm!)

I like your concept of placing Fantasy Springs in the World of Animation section in Hollywood Studios. It actually makes the most sense. They could even keep the name. The entrance show building could "transport" guests (a la Toontown tunnel - but not) into the l i t e r a l World of Animation, where all that Disney IP comes to life. Just give me anything with the new audio-animatronics, and air conditioning. And do it in Florida.

The USA has it's fantasy springs, its called Galaxy's Edge. Sorry to burst your bubble, you will have to wait 5 years for the exclusivity breaks, on top of that, Disney won 't shell out all the money,

If only Disney management was as willing to greenlight projects as OLC. Give the Imagineers money to build things instead of propping up a failing film studio and streaming app. So jealous of both Tōkyō parks!

The best I hope for WDW is that the Tangled boat ride comes over either by replacing Small World or squeezing a new show building behind that area with the queue starting between Small World and the Tangled bathroom area at Magic Kingdom. It’d be tight and I’m not sure if logistically messing with that backstage area is possible but it feels doable. Maybe they can get creative by moving the Small World queue. Zero chance WDW gets the other stuff given how it already has Frozen and I can’t imagine Disney parks execs approving an old non-core IP attraction at this point like Peter Pan.

Disneyland's expansion seems the most obvious global expansion site for Fantasy Springs. For Disney World scattering the IP makes more sense, putting the individual rides and attractions in the various different parts of the parks as appropriate. Same would be true of Paris. As for Hong Kong the size of the park may restrict what can be used and where. Shanghai - your guess is as good, if not somewhat better than mine.

I really hate the idea of fantasy springs being in DL-forward. We already have a fantasyland and now we're gonna possibly have a second one completely disconnected and on the other side of the park??? Its literally worse than Star Tours being in tomorrowland while theres an entire Starwars land..

Florida is closer to home so I have o say that. I do like the idea if a multiple princess area. would also enjoy the villains park or a park for Marry Poppins and the other live action films or a toon town with a money bin or a Gargoyles, gravity falls star vs, amphibia, owl house , ghost and molly, Kim possible, phineas and ferb area or a kingdom hearts area.

Disneyland - I would expand out behind Mickey's ToonTown (I don't own if they have that ability but magic wands can do anything, yes?). I would then replace the Neverland ride with either a Treasure Planet or Atlantis ride, since Peter Pan's Flight is already a thing and those movies would lend themselves well to a Universal Spider-man/Transformers style ride. WDW - Hollywood Studios. Take out Star Tours and move it to Galaxy's Edge proper. The Gertie lake and nearby restaurant go as well. Yes, you lose some cute themeing and styling but the sheer immersiveness of this new land replaces that no problem.

Stop dreaming! The Oriental Land Company (who owns the Japanease Parks) has an exclusivity clause for all Ride Systems with specific IP Combination. Means you won't see any clone of these exact Attractions in FOREVER! Disney can built a Tangled Ride elsewhere that isn't a Boat Ride, what they are doing in Paris (Rapunzel Tea Cups Ride). That's why you haven't seen these Tokyo Disney Unique Attractions anywhere else around the world: Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast, The Happy Ride with Baymax, Monsters Inc. Ride & Go Seek (much better than US version), Pooh’s Honey Hunt (very different with 100 Mio more Budget), Journey to Center of the Earth, Aquatopia, Nemo & Friends SeaRider and Sindbad’s Storybook Voyage.

The contract with the OLC does have an exclusivity clause. However, the language does state that Disney can negotiate to lessen the 5 years. At WDW for Tron, that wasn't an issue. Disneyland has a tremendous capacity problem and the company wants to make Disneyland a vacation destination like Orlando. It's like 70-80% locals at Disneyland now. DisneylandForward has been in the works for years. I'd be shocked if during the planing of Fantasy Springs, Disney didn't negotiate building at Disneyland. The blueprint for Frozen seems like an identical match for the parking lot next to the Downtown Disney entrance. Mark Brickey made a great video about that. Disneyland needs to put shovels in the ground like this year. D23 this year will be the most important D23 to date.

They renovated the castle in Paris and definitely did not rebuild it. And they even did a crap job at that, as the castle is leaking everywhere when it rains. And they didn't touch the walk bridge, which is currently in absolute disrepair. And while we're at it. Space Mountain could use a lick of paint, because good grief!
