The fact that the hands-on events end on May 11th definitely indicates to me that we're going to be getting a June-ish release - why else would they hype up the Switch 2 with a full month of hands-on events, with press and the general public being able to see it, getting all the news reports and information, and then make people wait until September?

No, there are hands on events up till June 1st with 3 other locations like China to be determined! Meaning these TBA dates of these three locations will likely be later in June! And given it would take a 2 month minimum timeframe to set up sales and production and launch the console like most console timelines. At best we could expect no earlier than August!

While it may not be the same thing necessarily, let's not forget that the big retailers used to put out demo units for consoles and handhelds that would last *well* into that machine's lifecycle. The date's of these events ultimately means very little imo.

Im still skeptical about the hall effect because while that would be great news but hall effect use magnets. And since joycons are magnetically attached/detached to the console the magnets in sticks could interfere with it.

No, the magnetic field in the stick would only be used as a signal. You could argue the attachments could interfere with the sticks but Nintendo just needs to offset the effect in the settings

It makes sense to be fair with the time frame and also a nice summer release for the original console and then probably some exclusive versions released for the holiday season would make sense too. Regarding release date I remember Nintendo saying they will have more than enough units so scalpers won't take advantage. That being said, September would be the most probable release to make sure more than enough units are available for pre order and it's close enough to the holiday season for them to release 1st party titles end of year. Regarding hall effect/joy con drift I believe Nintendo fixed a problem but created a new one. Joycons are only held magnetically which means my kid will not be able to grab it from the joy con and walk around like they do now with their switch. Im thinking the joy cons will get separated from the console accidentally. Also, hopefully the inner connector between joycon and tablet does not get damaged/worn out from the repeated attach/detach.
