There is a reason he's been chosen as Team Canada's GM for 2026. He's good at what he does. As a St. Louis fan you can be mad about certain things he's done (saddled us with some expensive contracts for an aging D-core, for example), but overall he is very, very good.

Chill is overrated (if you have the money and opportunity to do this). I don't blame the kids for taking a payday (though I think Holloway may have been pressured by his agent, not positive just subtle things in his speech). Great vid as always. Take care all.

Halloway wanted a better chance to play. Imagine being a rookie on a team where 4 players alone have over 50% of the cap space. He wanted a chance to play and he wasn't getting it in Edmonton and then no chance for advancement in pay. It's a business he did his job cause that's what offer sheets are for. Armstrong understands what's allowed to be done and the part you left out was him saying that GMS shouldn't do that to each other and that's ridiculous he's right it should happen more. In the end he weakened the hell out of the blue line in Edmonton

@@dustheg what 4 players alone make over 50% of the cap? This is not the Maple Leafs it the Oilers. Mcdavid makes $12.5 Draisaitl makes $8.5 and Nurse makes $9.25. That comes to $30.25 million so what other player (who would have to make $13.75 million a year) in order for it to be half of the cap?
@epiphany519

@@dustheg Well lets see. He was penciled in as the 3LW with possibly line 2 upside. Yes, that is WITH Evander Kane out of the lineup but it's where he was slotted. I don't blame either player for wanting to take money. I wish them well (unless, of course, they're playing the Oilers then I hope they look like 5 year olds who are outweighed by their gear but hey, I'm an Oilers fan so it's fair too). Broberg wanted to play on his natural side (left) but Oilers left D was booked (Ekholm, Nurse, Kulak) so unless one of them went down with injury he was going to have to play right here (and probably with Nurse). He wanted more and I don't blame him. The money is great too. Even for Holloway a 100% raise for 2 years with your minimum after that being the new level is a pretty good raise.

How long do Oiler fans have to wait while having (arguably) the 2 best players in the whole NHL? Thank god Holland is gone! Sorry, not sorry as anybody who pays Nurse $9.25 million and Campbell $5 million dollars shouldn't be an NHL GM! Holland was good when there was no cap, but not in the current NHL! Nurse was worth $6million not $9.25 million and Campbell was worth (arguably max when he signed) $3.5 million not $5 million (and now he is worth league minimum lol). And who wants to justify picking Broberg over Zegras or Holloway over Peterka, Neighbors, or Zary?

@detectaholic728 You are mistaken. Holland signed Nurse for $9.25 million, not Chiarelli. I know Oiler fans love to blame Chia for everything, but he got Draisaitl for $8.5 million while Holland got Nurse for $9.25 million. So you do the math on that.

did you watch Armys whole interview? he and Bowman were in contact all week. after the trades, Bowman told Army, we have the cap space now, so we can match- but if youll sweeten the deal, we wont match. that sweetener was an extra prospect and another pick. btw, people thought Army targeted Bowman, but from afar, it looks as though Bowman handled it masterfully. he made deals to put the Oil in a position to choose to match or not. and id argue they are better off now than before the sheets. we may have forced your hand, but the Oil came out WAY ahead on the Cecci deal. you got a better defender at 1/3 the cap hit and only had to give a 3rd.

I think it's more an answer to the implied accusation that these offer sheets were somehow 'personal' because of the GMs involved, or were meant more to throw a monkey wrench into Edmonton's finances than to improve the Blues. But look at these two players and then at the Blues franchise depth, and you'll see that Broberg and Holloway fit in perfectly with the stable of young players the Blues have in, or on the cusp of starting in, the NHL. They now have 12 former 1st round draft picks aged 25 or younger that will be trying to make the team over the next 4 years or so (in addition to a few other young players who are also projecting to be regular NHLers). They're all individually gambles, of course, but with the cap space to spare and some older veterans likely to move out over that time frame as well, a shrewd GM will make this move every time. I think Bowman and his team did a nice job coming out of this still fairly well off, especially given that Edmonton's cup window is NOW, while the Blues will still be retooling for a few more seasons before emerging as a potential cup threat. Both teams may be better poised for their respective goals.

They're not even close to being in trouble. They have 2.2m in cap space and have room to move guys to send them down. And for next season they have two main prospects Neighbors and Hofer the others are guys that they can keep or get rid of. They have 79m committed to next season with a cap that is expected to be around 92m. So they have 13m in cap space for next season with only 4 or so guys to sign and that's if they don't move one of their 3 bad dmen contracts all of which lose their full NTC after this season. That team is set for a while and they have 12 first round players/prospects on their team or in their pipeline that's insane. If their young guys pan out that team is going to be like Colorado or NJ only with better defense or goaltending.

@brianlb78 don't forget that tory Krug is on ltir which means that the 2.2 million cap doesn't mean jack shit. So if he decides to come back early the blues would have to make some make some major trades to get back in the black

@@darcyseguin8396 No Troy Krug is not on ltir, that decision hasn't even been made yet. If that where to happen they would have almost 9m in cap space and then be able to trade him after the end of the season because he NTC is up. They have no one on LTIR right now and Krug is the only one who may be injured but they have not decided on surgery or anything yet. Bet that throws a wrinkle in your thought process.

To answer your questions, yes, the Blues did target the Oilers in that offer sheets to players in this situation is perfectly legit and as the GM of the Blues Armies job is to make sure the team gets better than last year. Second, no they were not "offside" with a legal offer sheet to two players that can improve a Blues team that has missed the playoffs for 2 straight seasons. Third and fourth stop playing the victim here. If the Oilers did not pay McDavid so much they would have more money to keep these two. Looks more like the Oilers were willing to move on from both. And from what I have read on multiple videos about this, only the Oilers fans are whining about it. Other fans think this is a good thing or if its a Oiler hater out there, they think its funny. The Oilers but themselves in CAP HELL. No one did that to them. Teams change year over year. You don't get to keep the band together forever. We lost our team captain Pietrangelo the season after we won the cup. It hurt the team. But teams change. As others have pointed out he has been GM of the Canadian team multiple times. He knows his job well. Yes, he has made a few missteps but he has been very good at keeping the Blues competitive most seasons.
@creepyrobsta5509
@creepyrobsta5509 22 күн бұрын
Yeah you lost all credibility with the "If the Oilers did not pay McDavid so much" line. Connor McDavid plays in Canada (with much higher taxes) for $12.5 million a year. Compare that to any other best player in practically any sport and you will see he is vastly underpaid! Even Nathan Mackinnon now makes more than McDavid. McDavid is worth minimum $15 million when Lebron makes $48 million, Mahomes makes just under $46 million, Ohtani makes $70 million and Ronaldo makes $200 million.

@tellyourmomisaidhi5804 No, it's not regardless of taxes because they impact where a player will play or decide to sign. Do you wanna play in Canada for $12.5 million a year with 50% going to taxes (aka you are paid $6.25 million) or play in Florida for $10 million with zero taxes (aka you are paid $10 million). It's an easy no-brainer decision, and that's Florida because $10 million actually means $10 million! Also, Connor is worth almost whatever he wants as he A.) Grows the game. B.) Sells tickets. C.) Sells Jerseys and Memorabilia. D.) Is a good role model. E.) Is fun to watch

@creepyrobsta5509
@creepyrobsta5509 21 күн бұрын
@tellyourmomisaidhi5804 There will NEVER be another Lemieux. If your burden of proof is a guy who scored 199 points after going through cancer, then you might as say Ohtani doesn't compare to Babe Ruth as his W.A.R isn't close to Ruth. I am talking today, not 38 years ago, when Lemieux premiered. Nobody compares to McDavid today. He is literally doing stuff that hasn't been seen since Lemieux and Gretzky, so it sounds like you are arguing just to argue. I was comparing modern-day payments to modern-day players, so bringing up Lemieux is a complete false equivalency.
