#106 SEASON TWO: We're finally getting back into the quonset with the HOPE of finishing the project this winter. This week we did more clean up, before installing a 16' wall mounted workbench built with 2x4s and plywood. This allows for tool drawer carts and a Rubbermaid Brute trashcan on wheels to fit underneath and provides a perfect working height for projects. Chop saw is only there temporarily, as it will be mounted elsewhere later. +AMDG

Looking better and better each time. Also like that you adopted the concept that little by little goes a long way towards the finished product. God Bless...

A personal favorite quote is from Dick Proenneke (if you're not familiar with him, he built and lived alone in cabin in Alaska for 30+ years kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4qtfJdmp9B-qdU) - "Too many men work on parts of things. Doing a job to completion, satisfies me."

Thank you, and yes, we're blessed with incredibly helpful children. And you're not kidding about the more efficient workshop - it has been a challenge since we've moved to the farm - not having an organized functional space. Hopefully, we can maintain momentum and knock out the whole thing this year!

I haven't seen anything from your channel in quite a while. What are you up to these days? I am going to be building out the inside of my Quonset hut soon myself. I watched all of the series and just wondering how it all finally worked out after a couple of years now. I am wondering if I can do the slope and build a second floor on top that will be able to bear weight. I guess I will just have to try it out and see what I can come up with. You have the only video series on this type of qhut build. Take care. Hope to see some new videos someday. You are very interesting.

Shop looks great. It is amazing how tiny of a hole that a mouse needs to gain access to a building. I've heard a hole the size of a #2 pencil is all they need.

Honestly, in short order it was like a mouse dropping bomb went off in there. And they went EVERYWHERE. Once we eliminated all food sources, we started trapping everywhere. Seems the problem has finally come to an end.

Binge watched your series, have to say great job! And thanks for sharing. Now that it's been a while, is there anything you would do differently if you could do it again? Mainly curious about the insulation setup. Again thanks and would love to see more.

Im having the same problem with heat and all metal tools, etc gathering rust. Since this has been a couple of seasons now, how did this work out for you? Will it hold a comfortable temperature now? Do you have air conditioning? Did it stop the high heat and humidity inside?

Great job any worries with condensation now that you did it that way?
@StIsidoresFarm
@StIsidoresFarm 6 жыл бұрын
A number of folks have asked this question over the past two years. All the times we had been in the shop we never saw condensation, no matter how cold it was outside, and how hot it was inside. UNTIL, this winter when we went out to the shop when there was SNOW ON IT. That time we did start getting condensation dripping down on the half of the quonset that is still unfinished, so my guess is that it was doing it on the insulated half as well - maybe not as bad. Sorry, long answer. The answer is no, as long as there isn't snow on the roof. Thanks for the positive feedback!
