I've been using Studio One since the very first version. This is the best DAW in the world. Although I can work in almost all similar programs. But S1 is the most comfortable, pleasant and inspiring DAW

Totally Agree but it fails very badly in Modulation! I mean even reaper can do basic modulation (Mapping Effects/instruments/mixer)etc parameters to an lfo but studio one Cannot 🤦

I'm lucky - Studio One was the first DAW that I tried - and the default behaviour is not to show buses in the arranger. And I love it that way 😉

Same. And I really like Studio One. I’ve noticed a couple of bugs but I like the DAW overall. It’s intuitive and well designed.

Another good work state for this is to just pack the busses into a folder. Then you get the best of both worlds. they only take up 1 'line' of space...and you can expand them with 1 click in case you want to write automation or something on a buss.

same, tried almost all DAWs, lastly "reaper" that gets so much love and no matter how hard i tried, i hated it with all my heart. i found peace with studio one. my ONLY annoyance is and stays that there is no good way to pan in midi roll. sometimes it still drives me nuts and i don't get why we can't have that option at least. but for the rest its god tier

Great! When will Scenes be fixed so that they don't effect Arranger tracks being shown/hidden when Arranger & Console are unlinked? This bug was confirmed shortly after the release of 5.0 or 5.1.

problem is, when i move tracks next to bus channels, somehow they stick to one another (if the auto track automation visibility is not selected) and messes up all the mixer organization i made. \Is this a bug???????
@CXtheproducer12 жыл бұрын
We need the Sequencer PPQ changed or something because its not the best at letting you play unquantized midi, I mean if I’m on a MPC or Serato Studio or ABLETON Live or Reason or Fl Studio whatever I play manually with no quantize it plays it back perfectly. But Studio one seems to play it back with the dropped notes or notes moved. THE SEQUENCER AND THE SAMPLER NEEDS A MAJOR OVERHAUL. Test the MPC hardware or software without quantize and see the difference or any of the other stated DAW’s I mentioned. As powerful as Studio One is for music creation it still needs work in those 2 departments( The Sampler and the Sequencer) Also, quantizing after playing something should not be hard to accomplish as well.

This is definitely a perk of studio one that I’ve been using for a few years now. The only thing that I wish S1 could do is have a section in the Console that could be on the left or right that could pin 📌 FX, Bus or VCA Channels that could be Hidden or shown with one click and can’t be moved regardless of whatever you do in the arrangement window. Something like a section console separator.
@GregVKMusic2 жыл бұрын
If you go to the mixer options (same place Gregor found the setting in this video) you'll find a setting that allows you to keep FX, Bus and VCA Channels to the right. Or are you saying it would be cool to have them stay on screen when you're scrolling through your channels? Because that would be a really cool feature and you should definitely make a feature request!
@Musictron2 жыл бұрын
@@GregVKMusic Lol something like that. It would be cool to put anything in this section of the mixer and then show and hide at anytime and perhaps cutting down on more mixer scrolling.

It seems based on this, the workflow suggestion would make the Edit and Mix windows as separate (not combined) pages, as in: "Tracks" (Edit). "Mix" (Mix). Much like the Master is a separate page. I watched your video but cannot see how to make "Edit" not show the channels below. Switching between Edit and Mix swaps out the lower view between Showing Track (selected above) and the Channels (with the tracks above). How do I commit the I/F to all Edit or all Mix? Thank you.

I recently purchased PreSonus with a USB interface. Have you done any videos on understanding or developing a workflow? I mean it's fun to record tracks for my and make loops, but it would be nice to have an overall plan or a template to follow. Many thanks Gregor for another informative vid. Off-topic but the latest S1 update without a video track for media was unfortunate so today I reluctantly invested in Pro Tools. Hi!! Thanks for your fantastic videos Gregor, and yes this is absolutely great!! :-) But, when using folders and wanting to link Show/hide when opening the folders some things get weird with the FX returns/ busses. Probably me, but have really tried to figure this out.. I have at some points ended up with some of the FX channels visible in the arrange, depending on when they were created.. Just accepting it and get the work done :-)

I still prefer the classic 1:1 display after a couple of years with Studio One. The lack of this is my main problem with S1. Since you can easily make tracks invisible and save the view as a scene, Gregor's argument about space in the track view is not very convincing. If you use something like a drum sampler with multiple outputs you want to automate, it is a pain to set it up in S1.
@GregVKMusic2 жыл бұрын
As Gregor showed in this video, to get this decoupled workflow, you have to make sure that the "Link visibility of Track List and Console" setting is disabled. so if you want a 1:1 option, simply make sure that setting is enabled.
@tombuur2 жыл бұрын
@@GregVKMusic I already do that. What I mean is that if I insert a multi-out instrument like a drum sampler, I have problems. Inserting Superior 3, I don't get tracks for kick, snare, highhats etc. so that I can automate e.g. volume of these during the song. I have to set this up manually, and it takes a long time. Other DAWs do this autmatically. Is there an easy way to do this in Studio One? A work-around. I use templates, but even so I have to go through this time consuming process now and then. I wish Presonus would make it and option to have the usual 1:1 relationship in cases like this. E.g. when inserting a multi-out instrumen: Create automation tracks, yes or no?

@@GregVKMusic Appreciate the reply. Maybe I have to spend more time understand how the visibility features work. I played with enabling the Link Track List and Console option, but still see differences between my tracks and console channels. I feel like sometimes I see virtual instruments in the console, and sometimes not, sometimes busses and sometimes not, etc. I guess I just wish it were more intuitive.

But with the "Link Visibility of Track List and Console" checked, I still have two virtual instruments in my Console that don't show up in track list. Thank you for the info. However, for me, if it is making or passing audio, I want to see it. Full stop. Otherwise you are GOING to wind up hunting around for something and chasing signal in larger projects. Also, coming from Pro Tools and highly organized sessions, having things like busses viable in the arrange window has organizational advantages. I’m VERY glad S1 has the option for both.

What an earth has happened to the Update Master file option... Gets to the end of updating and gives out a horrible reverb crash????? On the verge of cancelling Sphere now... Used Studio One for years and you're ignoring issues that have always been there... The updating master file has just started after last update... But Plugins taking a minute or more to close down is just not acceptable... Doesn't happen in Reaper which I also use... Especially with Line 6 Helix Native 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️

It does not work properly with tracks that have more than one output on different channels like Impact. If link visibility is engaged and you try to hide the "Snare" for exemple all Impact channels disappear. If link visibilty is disengaged you can hide single channels but not collapse the drum folder they are put in. So you have to delete the snare from the instrument list. If you did that by mistake and you want to restore it all settings are lost. But hey who cares about proper testing a software?
