This game speaks to how good the Ana player was. The Moira was able to be aggressive and basically do what she wants because the Anna was keeping the team up and clutch nading most fights

yeah but if the enemies are so good that you need extra healing than the Ana can provide, Moira is a straight up useless pick... Her role as a dps healer is to dive in the backline and assassinate the mercy, or the weak healers, maybe together with another flanker dps like genji or reaper, to heal them too. But the thing is, Moira players play her 100% of the time in any comp, regardless of the other healer. Like if you have widow and torb, no one is gonna flank their backline with you, and as a Moira you'll get focused and die quickly. And the Moira one tricks also play her when the team has an off healer like Lucio or Zen, and this is the thing that fucks me the most. Not to mention that Moira's self healing from right click counts as healing when you press tab and it appears that she's done a lot of healing to allies, when that's not the case, and then they brag that it's dps or tank diff when they're the problem

I would have liked to see the Moira flanking more. The value of a hero with tons of get out of jail free cards, high mobility and no need to aim constantly disrupting the back line is incredibly valuable and would ease up the pressure on their team so the Ana's load wouldn't have been so heavy. If one to three enemies are having to turn around to fight the Moira, they aren't hitting the tank.

So many damage orbs and so few healing orbs. WIth that being said, there were some clutch ones just to add that tiny bit extra dps to secure the kill. Moira herself is a safe support when you don't know as many of the fundamentals and awesome they are doing as well with her as they did with such little time in game. Awesome video as always Sty, hope to see guess the rank at some point as well!

Agreed. Probs to the Ana at this point, who must have had crazy healing numbers. Some team members were so low on HP and Ana had mostly some clutch grenades to safe them, while Moira straight used another damage orb. If this Moira would have focused more on healing orbs, then Ana would had the chance to use her grenade more aggressively. Anti-nading the enemy team would have giving them much more value.

Moira can be equally a blessing and a curse, not just to a team comp but to the person playing her, honestly. She is crazy fun to play and feels powerful, but it's so easy to tunnel-vision and reach a point where you can literally just stop seeing your own teammates. Sure, the "Reddit Moira" meme is a thing that people complain about, but I think that what happens more often is that the reaction time in shifting back and forth between damage and healing sometimes becomes slower as a fight/match goes on. There were a number of instances here when there were multiple critical teammates right in front of Moira and she continued dpsing when her efforts weren't going to convert to kills, and I think that's when it becomes very noticeable. The flip side is that there were plenty of times that this player's heal vs. damage choices worked in the team's favor, so props! Unfortunately, many teammates will only take note of the missed opportunities. Moira's abilities are very visually obvious, so if you make a mistake over which orb you send out everyone will know it and that can result in you getting flamed. That kind of feedback can hit hard, especially when you're newer to the game, but don't let it deter you from continuing to work on learning a hero you've fallen in love with. Moira's well worth having in the arsenal for support mains!

Moira is easily the best hero for a new player. She is really really strong in the lower ranks, and super easy to play. Requires almost no mechanical skill, and her cooldown management is really simple. Also her ultimate is really strong, and easy to use effectively. But she does fall off pretty hard in higher ranks.

the funny thing is as you get higher in ranks it becomes essential to switch back and forth on every support... except mercy for the most part... between heals and damage to win games and get value. It's just way easier to tunnel vision on moira both because she uses beam mechanics so its harder to miss and requires longer to secure a kill and also because the damage is essential as it fuels her healing output.

Also something he didn't mention Moiras healing range can be deceptive, it actually goes alot further than you'd think. She can be very strong if you keep youself at a distance poking the enemy with small flanks but making sure youre still within range of your team to heal.

Idk why people say "when used right" it's not hard to use moira right she nearly plays herself, I mean yea she has positioning and decision making but that's like saying I'm skillful for learning to walk, yea to an infant who cant yet walk, you can say my ability to walk prob looks difficult to the infant but realistically everyone has to learn to walk so it's not some unique skill to you 😂 Moira litterally has a cap where regardless of how good you are with moira, you simply wont be able to climb unless you learn more supports and the problem with moira is shes like the easiest hero in the game, but to make up for that, she cant actually kills stuff, and the skills a moira main does have dont translate to support well, I would say they translate to flanks better but flanks typically have hars to perform combos with difficult to land primaries which moira doesnt have lol Think of it like this, if everyone else had auto aim like moira but kept their dmg, moira would litterally never get played so once people start having good enough aim where auto aim doesnt matter much now, moira is gonna become almost completely useless, except in very neiche comps which kiriko would prob still work better if you just learned kiriko.

Just one thing to point out, using coalescence on a grav dragon is just a waste considering that the dragons do 300 dps on the middle, unless only one of the two dragons is hitting the grav, in which case the coal would heal just a bit less than the damage received. Whoever is in there would probably just die from enemy shots through the coal though.

Tip for DPS Moira's out there, unless you can see that a purple orb is going to confirm a kill or there's no way anyone will take damage before the cooldown will come back up you should be using the healing orb. And I'm not saying this from a "You should be healing your team" kind of perspective. If you watch Nolan, arguably THE dps Moira, like 90% of the orbs he uses are healing orbs. Orbs to give himself sustain while he flanks and 1v1's, Orbs to toss toward his team to heal. But he rarely will use the damage orb.

I think one of the hardest thing for players of any rank to get over is the mental hurdle of "well it worked out, so it must have been the right move to make." Obviously the higher up in the ranks you go, this thought goes away more and more as you understand what you are doing and where you were wrong. But it is always interesting to me to see someone do the wrong thing, have it work out or even just not die from the move, and think "yes that was the right call." I am not saying that about the person in this vid specifically of course, just making a comment on ranked gaming as a whole.

From my experience, moira as a hero is very great in metal ranks. The higher you get, the more you value utility skills over burst heal, for example, sleep, anti, speed boost, discord orb, etc. Also, my friend, who only started playing OW in season 1 OW2, picked her up as his first support (now has moved on to master kiriko and Ana) and wholeheartedly recommends her as a first due to her effortless play style and effectiveness. You get an easier time learning the ropes cause you can observe heroes and what they do. She is also very mistake forgiving. You get an easy escape ability, aoe heal, and auto aim with a range of like 1/2 map.

As a GM Moira i would stay on a different spot at first point. a really good spot is on the health pack at the statue. you can throw orbs from left to kiriko and make them bounce back thru their whole team, you can heal your tank easily, if someone pushes you or you have to escape you can fade jump to high ground on the black car from there or fade back behind your ana if needed. Also if your Junkerqueen falls back to point for whatever reason you can Heal orb behind the ana and make it bounce the whole point. you're also in good reach to heal your widow and genji.

Moira is one of the strongest healers in the game if she’s actually used for healing. I’ve been playing her since the release of overwatch 2 and I’ve reached the edge of masters just thanks to her insane healing output. Just this season I’ve had multiple games where I reached over 30k healing on one match with enough damage to put my own dps teammates to shame.

Being a dps moira may be valuable often ‘cause there’ll be another player dishing out damage and finishing kills if their teammates are unable to do so. But then, they should also know when it’s appropriate to heal. For example, they are times when Moira and hunt down the enemy Ana to switch your focus onto you instead of healing the frontline, which often forces the other enemy support to heal the Ana. Other times, it’s more better to focus heal your tank. It’s all just about making good decisions.

This Moira player sent a winning match replay with good looking scoreboard status, I can feel he is happy about his performance in this game . However , this Moira barely made any impact in the whole match, probably 1 ult and 2 backline kills , that's it. In the same time as another support , we saw Ana saved the tank's ass countless time and ult the team breaking through emeny's defence again and again.I'm not judging the player , who likes to play Moira , but if he aims to climb, whole game only Moira no switch is not gonna do it. There is a reason why Moira is the only support that the pro teams don't use in any comp.

DPS Moira is a really strange archetype. When I play games with my equally skilled plat friend, DPS Moira is super common. But when I get sweaty playing with friends who hardly know the game, I might swap to aversion of DPS Moira so that I can do the job of support AND damage lol

Started watching Sty in the beginning of Overwatch 1, always such a treat seeing Overanalyzed. Helped me climb to Diamond with Rein eventually! Although in this one I'd say Sty seems to have forgotten that the damage orb recharges the piss spray quite a lot. The damage orb is now the default when you think you need to spray your team in a golden shower, but that it is not a case of having to empty your bladder from full in a single fight.

Quite a lot of issues. Leaches on Zarya bubbles, wastes healing when team mates aren't injured, positions ahead / away from tank, uses ult when team fight is already won, pumps ult into enemy tank who won't die instead of the supports healing them.

Stylosa just a few things to point out: 1) That cover part is kind of bad considering that if she needed to use healing orb, she would be in a bad position because she can't heal or damage with her primary. That is ironically the best position for moira in relativity to the tank, enemies and alies. 2)It was good for the moira to go on the offensive when she got the Ana nano boost ult. If not it would have been a waste of the ana ult. 3)He definitely needs to learn to stay behind allies when he ults (outside of when he get's buffed by ana). It makes it so he heals allies, avoids getting hit by stuff that might knock them out of the ult and damage enemies without them being able to damage back.

Witch Kiriko is amazing!! I keep trying to not play Moira, I’m gold 4 support, but sometimes she just works when your dps is scared? Someone right next to you that can quickly heal a lot and won’t die in the fight seems to convince them to run away less! She is much more survivable when you send out healing orbs, since they heal yourself too as they travel.

This is actually why I stopped playing support. Now I'm bronze, so I was not this effective in the overall game but in Overwatch 2 especially, supports are really reliant on their team mates. In Bronze, it did not matter that I took out 3 of their backline players because the rest 4 of my team either managed to die to their tank or no one touched the objective and somehow I became the one to blame even though I had equal healing and damage. The witch Kiriko is the only Kiriko I do not have by the way :D

I also play a ton of plat moira and its a pretty common occurance for me to dominate as moira and have 1500+ dmg+healing per minute by playing aggressively. My goal is usually to poke with orb, take space with the tank and enemy force healers/dps to use CDs then fade before they hit me and it works all the time in plat. I got a quint with genii ultimate 4v5 me on the team of 4, at this point I believe I was bronze five. This reflects the absolute beauty that was matchmaking in season 1 of overwatch 2.

Since Sty for soem reason did not say it: Please, for the love of god, do not right click/shoot Zarya bubble unless your entire team is intending to burst through it and kill her. You single handedly fed that Zarya half her charge the entire time by just holding right click.

The return of OverAnalysed for OW2 Season 3 is insightful as it shows just how blurred the skill boundaries between competitive ranks have become with the current iteration of the hidden MMR-based matchmaker. The variance in displayed skill in each rank is larger than before. I feel it will take several more months and tweaks to the matchmaker before players settle into their true ranks again. That said, I'm still bad at the game and definitely belong in my SR 😅

Believe it or not, Moira going on flanks making the enemy supports turn around and forcing peel is much more effective lol
