One thing I love about the Nixies is how they're introduced in Matoya's Relict. Y'shtola and Matoya's relationship is so perfectly summed up. Shtola is embarrassed by something she drew as a kid and Matoya refuses to take it off the fridge, so proud of her girl's first familiar.

2:58 Never too soon for Emet. 11:00 The The Excitatron 6000, the treasure dungeon for the grade 14 maps, was built by the loporrits. That's why Uri's helping them with treasure vaults. 13:00 I took so many screenshots from this quest. 14:03 She looks over, and the music cuts and she sees us watching her like stalkers. I went back in the book too to get a screenshot of the bookbonk. 18:30 Aww, you skipped the Uri recruitment. Alzadaal music is a bop. Really loving those Carribean style steel drums and xylophones. 19:10 Dafuck!? Is that Azem's symbol!? Wait, wait, wait. Didn't Emet say he'd been here before? Sonovabitch. He left behind a "Kilroy was Here" thing. 20:50 Awwwwwwkwaaaaaaard. 21:30 Only real choice is to throw Y'shtola under the bus. 25:20 Nothing is ever a simple treasure hunt for fun. Remember the Drowned City of Skalla? 32:10 So THAT'S why he started using vessels. 34:45 G'raha, some sensitivty if you please? 39:40 Magical Girl Y'shtola confirmed! 41:20 "I am a many thousand years old ancient dragon, and I cannot process what I have just seen." 42:17 Ah, no thank you. The frog back in Labyrinthos was enough. 52:30 The Hannish alchemists truly are a different breed. I love them. 58:00 Somebody hug that dragon and tell him to be selfish right this minute.

Don't worry Terra, I know how you feel. I had been excited to learn about Vrtra and Azdaja since way back in Stormblood (when I first caught up to MSQ, it was back in 4.1 era), so you can imagine I lost my shit at Vrtra being in the Endwalker trailer while others were busy being excited over everything else. Azdaja coming up finally also had me quite excited. And of course, same thing with the Thirteenth, after doing all the role quests in Shadowbringers. People who don't dive deep into the lore are just like "okay cool, some new thing" without understanding that people really into the lore have been WAITING for this stuff! Throw in the fact that this dungeon was chock full of non-stop FFXI references (I played FFXI for about 13 years before switching to FFXIV), AND all the stuff about the Twelve in the alliance raid, and this patch was overwhelmingly amazing to me.

19:10 That's not just Azem's symbol. In real world alchemy, that's the Sun symbol.

I still think it's amazing the way this game manages to FOLLOW UP on amazing climaxes without feeling like throwaway filter. 5.3 was HUGE emotionally. 5.4 followed up on dangling plot threads in a way that lead into 5.5 and Endwalker. And now, after the story from 2.0 that ended in 6.0, 6.1 follows up on what were dangling plot threads in a way that is so satisfying.

I find the whole thing with Vrtra being like a little brother to everybody to feel a lot better with the Japanese dub, since his dragon voice is that of a young man instead of an old man

1:00:00 - I mean, I knew who that was as soon as I saw the two hands on their face. Maybe I just pait too much attention during 6.0... It's the Voidsent that Zenos had made a contract with. Now that he's dead, the voidsent is returned to his world.

Firstly on the "pre-watch": This game does a good job leaving breadcrumbs for you to figure out where they're going. That's just a mark of good setup and payoff, and it is placed just well to pick up, or to forget and get surprised, only to look back and see it tracks. If you recall a conversation or a scene that comes back around again, you're gonna realize where the plot is heading at some point. Casually dropping Azdaja like that means it will be addressed at some point, having a class be based upon Voidsent this expansion means they were developing more to do with the Thirteenth soon enough. I recall a refocus on the Crystal Tower at some point before the Scions started going into comas. Rarely do they just bring something up to say, "There, don't ask about it again." So you're just paying attention is all! On Emet. Azem's mark, and a Void gate... I've always wondered if the Garleans learned to become Reapers and bind themselves to Voidsent because Emet realized their lack of magic use could make them easier to experiment on to forcibly recombine the souls of the Thirteenth with the Source, since the Ascians screwed up on the Thirteenth to create the Void. It would make some sense if you consider Thanatos, one of the Morai and the embodiment of Death, spends most of his time in Hades' court, ensuring souls make it to the shores of the Styx, as well as some thoughts on Persephone's name referring to the harvest (threshing and... reaping), as the name origin is unknown. Could be that visiting/creating rifts to the Void helped Emet work out how to teach people to make pacts with Voidsent in an attempt to recombine people with their shards on some level (especially since it seems he'd go to other Reflections to clean up messes of other Ascians, like on the First with Vauthry's birth, and usually spent most of his time empire building and collapsing on the Source, so the whole thing would be to figure out how to fix the Thirteenth's bungle as he waited for a new potential empire to guide). If enough Rejoinings happen to strengthen Zodiark, perhaps he would then figure out how to better forcibly rejoin the Thirteenth and these souls. He just also marked the door because... well, Azem would've been delighted to discover such a location, after all, so yeah, a "There, you were here too." Kinda hoping we get some new Class quests, especially for newer classes that had shorter (one to two expansion) stories just because it would be neat if my theory proves correct with Reapers.
