This channel is beginning to hurt me from nostalgia and wanting to go back in time. I absolutely loved this game. I seriously probably put like 400 hours on this game. Loved the music, the cinematic experience, the combat and the story my God I can go on and on. This and the 2nd game just blew me away back in my early teenage days. I wish they would remaster this game for like switch or something.

Tyler I've told you before but your childhood was the same as mine. But instead of dad it was mom. She would buy me games ff7 lunar etc. And played them with me. I was born in December 1986. When we got this one it changed my life. We would have been good friends back then. Unfortunately mom passed away and now these games shed tears. Never forgotten always remembered.

I'm around your age and had a similar story about actually getting the game. My mom took my sister and I to Toys R' Us to pick up a gift for her friend's kid. While there my sister and I ran off to the video game section and there we saw Lunar. The big box caught both of our eyes and since we had only recently been getting into RPG's, we knew we had to have it. We pleaded with our mom to get it for us but she said she didn't have enough money on her. We knew that if we left the store we would not return, so we told her we could wait there while she goes to the bank, and to this day I have NO FREAKING clue how we pulled it off but she agreed. We waited there starring at that shiny box until she came back and bought it for us. My sister and I played the hell out of that game together. Months later an aunt in another state asked my mom if my sister could move in with her for a little while to help her take care of her kids. I remember so vividly how I cried thinking about my sister, and the music from this game reminded me so much of her. When I heard the music play in your video it took me right back to that time and made me tear up again from that memory. Such a good game! Thank you for sharing more memories with us!
@anonamatron4 ай бұрын
You'd better be nice to your mom. I don't think I ever got my parents to GO TO THE BANK to get money ON THE SPOT to buy something for me.... geez. I could get my parents to buy something on the spot if I paid them back when we got home, since I didn't often bring lots of money with me. They encouraged me not to. But for them to just buy me a game was almost exclusively a birthday/Christmas thing. I can think of one time where my parents let me pick out a new Gameboy game for a long car trip... I grabbed Final Fantasy Legend II for that. Anyway, you have a very nice mom.
@PK_Dispel4 ай бұрын
@@anonamatron Agreed! My mom and I have an amazing and positive relationship, and I do anything she needs or wants me to do for her now, so no worries there. Yeah this was definitely a one time thing, and after remembering the story I went and asked her if she remembers it and she said she doesn't and has no idea why she did that either, lol. We were poor at the time. Our dad was not in the picture so my mom had to raise me and my siblings on her own. Being the oldest, I was normally the one who took care of my two siblings and a cousin who we took in because his mom passed away. Mom was ALWAYS working, she sacrificed so much for us, and I have never doubted that I had the best mom I could have ever hoped for. I think mom did that for us because she knew video games were important to us, and quite possibly the thing that was keeping us home safely, rather than out on the street and on drugs like how some of my family ended up. Whatever it was, trust me, i am very aware that what she did was WAY too much, and that I was extremely fortunate and spoiled by what she did for us. I just wanted to give a little background because I don't want to give the impression that this was common and that we were ungrateful or anything.
@nadiareads63593 ай бұрын
@@PK_Dispel Your mom sounds so awesome. I remember my mom leaving me to get my hair cut and heading next door to EB games to preorder the PSP release of Lunar silver star harmony. But it wouldn't be an all the time thing. Only on specific game releases that we knew would be hard to find if we didn't pre-order it or birthday/christmas.

My number 1 all time favorite game. That cutscene with Alex and Luna at the end gets me every time in the waterworks. Same when I see the recorded history scene in Lunar 2 before Ghaleon appears. My Grandmother gave this game to me for Christmas of 1999 with Final Fantasy 8 and I was so happy and at the time I was 15 and no game has ever surpassed it since although Lunar 2 came close. It was definitely the right moment in time for me to play this when it came out. In the years since, I imported the Mpeg Saturn version, and picked up the OG on the Sega Cd. I really need to sit down and play those as well.

I remember I was on winter break and I spent two weeks playing Lunar, the intro, the scene of Luna singing on the ship and the combat system, the art, everything was fantastic, until then I had only played one RPG, Mario RPG, but Lunar opened up a world of possibilities for me in RPGs (Xenogears for example). This game brings back beautiful memories of my childhood and my father's. Lunar 2 is also a very good game. Thanks for making me remember such beautiful moments.

Lunar Silver Star and Lunar Eternal Blue are two of the most underrated JRPGs of all time! I have both box sets for PS1 that I cherish as my collection. I wish the PSP version of the game would come to PS+ with better load times. It was a beautiful "remake" but the load times made it a chore. Noriyuki Iwadare's music in this series is simply magical! Listening to another person talk about their passion and experience with this game warms my heart. I still get goosebumps hearing Luna's melody played on the ocarina or her singing it with her "la la la's". Growing up my dad was a Zelda/Metroid guy or more so action RPGs like Faery Tales on Genesis so I too didn't have much experience with turn-based RPGs until I was teen when FF7 came out. To this day he won't play turn-based FF games. Only recently he finally tried FF16 and loved it because it was action based.

I wholeheartedly agree with your feelings and attachment to Lunar. I played the original Sega CD version and was hooked. I was in my mid teens and loved anime as I grew up on Robotech and many more mecha series. Lunar captivated me with it's visuals, imagination, songs, story, and characters. I beat the game twice on Sega CD, I never wanted it to end. I even put the game in a CD player and it played the music tracks, and I created a mix tape of the soundtrack from the game and played it in my car. When the Playstation version was released, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. As you said, the amount of details and added cinematics in the PS version really brought it to life that much more. Lunar is definitely one of those games that forever changed the way I looked at games. This is one of the most underrated titles out there, as many people have not heard of it.

Your experiences with Lunar are very similar to mine. I can honestly say it is my favourite game. So much so that I own multiple versions of this and Eternal Blue and even have both soundtracks on vinyl

Star Ocean The Second Story is the only game that made me feel "emotionally wrecked". At least the one I can deeply remember, to me it was such a masterpiece that I wanted more after beating it.

Seeing all those physical PS1 games on the Target rack was a blast to the past.

Lunar SSS is what got me into RPG's. Watching my neighbor play got me invested in the story. after that I had to play it myself. Love the game so much that once I grew up and was able to afford buying my own games. I bought just about every version of the Game. remember my teenage years I gotten a Gameboy Micro and Lunar for the GBA. Beat it. even tho it wasn't the PS1 version. somehow my imagination was able to fill in those Blanks. also love the PSP version. was shocked how early in the game the spoiled stuff lol. still great version to play.

It’s funny, I vaguely remember trying a demo of this game at an Electronics Boutique when I was a kid - I didn’t own a ps1 so I knew it would probably be my only time playing it. For some reason the art and enjoyability left a lasting impression so when I came across the IOS version decades later I had to give it a try, and I wasn’t disappointed! If you are looking for an authentic way to play it, go for the IOS version. I only wish they would port Lunar 2 for IOS as well because I’ve heard it is just as good, if not better.

It's such a shame that the game wasn't released in Europe. I can literally feel the joy playing the game as a kid😢

This game had all the classic anime tropes lost in rpg's today

I was shocked to hear you say 3x3 eyes. I love that anime and nobody seems to have seen or heard of it
