You touched on so many things I've felt/thought about my own life for ages. The concept of “we all have our masks/armor that show diff aspects of ourselves but each is just a piece” is in line with a thought I had a while back about myself, wherein everywhere I go, each different group I interact with, sees just a part of who I overall am. With one group I'm more playful and jokey, another more strategic and technical, yet another more inquisitive and curious, among many others. Like I'm a whole kaleidoscope of elements but none are "fake" or disengenuous just different aspects of who I overall am. Your courage in sharing this vulnerable part of how you feel about yourself is highly commendable and I thank you for sharing it, as it's not only fascinating to hear but also thought provoking in having me gain insight on some of my own things here and there. Definitely looking forward to see where these go.

I'm actually pretty much in the same position as this podcast at about the 20 minute mark. I fell face first into leather craft, and it's alright, but it's never been a dream of mine. I enjoy KZbin, Making Videos etc. But I need to stop worrying about what's going to happen with my channel if I start taking chances and just do what I need to do to be happy and everything will work itself out.

Michelle, I watched you entire video and have seen many of your training videos. It’s fascinating to watch you in action. I can appreciate where you’re coming from, your identity tied to your skills and accomplishments. My opinion is that it’s important to remember the old concept of “Be, Do, Have” If you can be anything, you can do anything, if you can do anything you can have anything. Start with the question, “What do you want to have?” and work it back to “What do I have to be?” Ultimately, it’s your choice to create those things for yourself. Your being is not a “performer, staff spinner, stunt woman, etc.” Those are doingneses. You alluded to it when you spoke of your power. Your being is one who can put in the attention, attitude, effort and creativity to do all of those things successfully. You’ll find a better way to express this about yourself I’m sure. But you are hugely powerful. I know that whatever direction you choose to do and have you will be successful because of your ability to be. -My humble 2 cents

The fact that you did this sitting on the floor and with no script, made it more engaging, natural, organic. As a follower, I felt closer to you as a human being. You certainly achieved your goal of getting rid of the "costumes" or "armor" and giving us the human being. Looking forward for the next episode. LOVED IT! ❤

I started take steps towards getting a house built (by me-gotta save!) and I realized just how messy it is, in the 20 or so years, the offices that are involved in land, plots, lots, environmental etc., all those are haven’t been stream-lined. I mentioned this, is because i should have taken these steps long ago, but if had i known-i would have-because what they don’t teach you, is how to go about land ownership, house ownership, it’s all based on-go here, then there, go see the plot of land-ugh! All that to say, get things going, even if it doesn’t seem to begin anything. But i get it, there is a apprehension of not getting the right direction at the first attempt. Believe me, i hate it when I go somewhere and they tell me, you don’t have the right paper-work (especially if you have to walk). A comedian said, “doing something the first time as an adult seemed like a big deal like climbing a mountain when you were a kid, but when you actually go do it-it’s like stepping up onto the curb from the street.” It’s slow going but i’m getting there. Just gotta do something, anything, a little planning in the down time doesn’t hurt either.

Women aren't the only ones who wear masks or armor..... I grew up with an abusive step father that firmly believed that kids should be seen and not heard. To the point where I couldn't even do sports in high school because he flat outside he wouldn't take me to practice or games or anything. So I was forced to swallow my emotions to swallow basically who I am and trap thim inside, to the point that at 45 I still don't know who I am.....

Hey Michelle! I really enjoyed this vid. The costumes analogy really resonates and, in this time of rampant social media, will do so for most people. When you spend so much of your life "on display", it gets to be a habit to always be "on". I noticed that you seemed truly happy to be yourself in this vid, and that makes me happy. Thanks. Can't judge the mess cause it makes way, way too much sense to me except I really have no understanding of this masking. But a lot of what you said feels like things I do to a lot of extents, with some exceptions, but of course there's gonna be. I know I do it to some extents but then others I can't at all. So weird, and so fun, lol. Small talk breaks my brain. Relate to Spock, who interestingly feels more emotion than anyone else. Then I also relate to robots and 'othered' type of characters. D.A.R.Y.L. is one I remember a lot. Even The Terminator for how I'm always scanning my environment. But that's the worst one maybe and what saber spinning has been the most help to. If I'm honest what you want to do is exactly how it's going with me. I'm still hopelessly lost but the saber stuff rn is already saving my mind from exploding at work surrounded by a cacophony of mall-shoppers on days like today. But then you talk about all of this stuff and it's so me, so it's helpful to me and to god knows how many others as well who have no idea what's going on here. So yea, I think I'd be super fucked if I didn't end up with a reason to start doing this and then searched and found people are actually taking it seriously and all, lol. I am in that shit you described and fighting to get out so a lot of coincidence seems to be working in my favor. And that's what it is because even professionals are pretty stupid on this. Then some of us live in 'that country' that doesn't believe in healthcare and so talking about these things is all we have. And then family can sometimes blow. They've seen some TV shows, Rainman or something and know what all this is and 'you're definitely not that.' You mention the stim aspect, that's big for me, too. Especially the newer sabers with all the lights and sound you can play with, it's almost overwhelming at that point. In a good way, tho, I just need more patience about that aspect. Also might have to be mindful about the loudness cause sometimes people ask me questions, like 'how do you do that?' and I might be yelling PRACTICE! at them. They get weird, but a lot of them are weird where I work, to be fair. Anyways gonna wrap that up guess I needed to put that down somewhere and you made it the spot. Appreciate it! 👍

Love you Michelle, you nailed the hair what more does anyone need. :) Seriously, I love what you are doing and you being you. When I do Zoom I do it on my yoga mat laying down in front of the screen. The cats like it. I might use a little extra lighting. I was called Spock by family, but that was a while ago. Now I have badass little ones especially 5 sisters I know. Will they make it? There are those growing up in dysfunctional homes and a few growing up with helicopter parents. I get to be the crazy uncle, the Obi Won Kinobi of the family. I do a little ballroom and Latin, had teachers tell me to smile. I was thinking, not if I don't feel it. I was fortunate my first dance teacher was really good and started us of with the best advice; "The only rule of dance is to have fun." Of course I am talking about doing what I am doing for me. There are rules and there are laws as well. One teacher I really liked, a professional, was doing things that looked like she was defying the laws of gravity and physics. She would back me up on the not smiling thing, though she always had a positive attitude. I have always been the simple, innocent, naïve cornfed kid. I joined the Army and it's probably not more real then that. Much of my work I could not talk about even with my spouse. I was also the big brother and I guess that was enough to establish myself as a military leader. You can delegate authority, but you cannot delegate responsibility. A sergeant will say "I am not yelling, I'm only talking loud enough so you can hear me." :) I have had to deal with anxiety & depression; which could mostly be from living such a sheltered life. Now, with the invention of cyberspace I enjoy exploring different personas. I also like my privacy and anonymity. I am pretty good at the physical stuff but I am constantly working on my social skills. Michelle you are more than an inspiration. I really believe the best thing is when people gather together to do something physical. "The happiest times are when people get together and do something... People have the most fun when they are busting their ass." ~ Ted Turner
