Showa insulated commercial fishing gloves, about $35 bucks. Warm and tough as hell, I commercial fished in them and they are "almost" indestructible. I enjoy your channel and you will love these gloves.

Years ago when I trapped beaver and caught the little ones, I had them all tanned, and used them for fur trim on my wife's coats, collars and cuffs, the fur is so soft that it didn't bother her skin. They also make the softest warmest mitten liners, especially the belly fur which is just really soft!

Otter, the original water weasel, just a suped up mink. Does same thing with beaver dens & houses that the mink does to muskrats. Otter take the rats too. Because of that there is no way to completely avoid the otters if their season is closed. If you are catching otters, you know your in the right area for rats & beaver as well.

Wow! 3 otter at that spot! I've caught 1 otter here in SW Idaho where we have a regional quota of 20 per year and a maximum of 2 per trapper. I caught it in a 330 set for beaver in a culvert. It was a nice surprise! Big female. Feet on tanned and hanging on my wall.

You said you got the tiniest beaver of all times. I had a 8ft mud flat, under 2" of water, so I gang set 5 Duke #4 on it with a big caster Mound. I suitcased a baby no longer than my 10 1/2 size boot, head to tail. Figured I got the rest of his family, with no food left in the lodge, so the little guy was looking for his family, and something to eat. Never saw a beaver that small before.

The otters being present & small beaver & 2 sprung traps tells me there is a monster beaver or 2 down in there somewhere whether you nail them or not. Like 60lbs? Sounds impossible, but I read the record U.S. beaver was caught in upper Wisconson in 1921 at 110lbs.

Otter eat lots of stuff,a real.predator much like the mink. In my area there are few otters compared to where I lived when younger on the south east side of this state ,I'm north west now. Here there is no season I'm aware of unless that changed & even sighting one was suposed to be reported. I did see one while carp fishing in autum during the salmon run on a local stream. I heard a splash, then a clunking nose & growls & more clunking & growls. I looked up from the water on the raised bank over a deep hole & looked to the right where the noises came from & there out in the rapids about knee deep on a human was a huge snapping turtle turned up on its side & striking making these water logged clunking noises while this good sized otter stood on it's back feet holding this 3 foot dia turtle shell up on its edge from the back end & trying to roll it over on it's back. Yes I did report the sighting. It was pretty chilly & late season for turtles, their battle took them up stream from me & out of view & to deeper water where the turtle was safer. Do think the otter dug that turtle out of the muddy bank? I suspect it did,it was pretty chilly.

I have not looked but I will… do you have any videos that have closeups on the 330’s and how you secure them with the clips and wire? I am used to 110’s and 220’s. Not familiar with the safety wire.

M8 do you get paid for the removal of the beavers and other creatures , or you're doing it for the fun of it ? When I trapped beavers in Coquillle Oregon , I did it for the fun of it. I don't trap anymore , but I'd like to watch your trapping videos to get a fresh idea of what I'm missing. Keep up the good work God bless y'all.

That is kinda strange to get three male otters in one area or Coleny!!! Maybe they were gay otters???? Lol!! I would definitely think that there would be one more otter being the female one?? You didn’t say if you thought that the last big beaver was the one that kept getting away from you every year you would trap that place and was maybe the trap smart one?? Those were definitely some good size otters though I would say!!! Awesome job buddy!!

I have 2 lodges on my lake, up until this late summer there had only been one. Now my question is would they abandon one just build a new one or did their family unit grow and the older(3+ yr olds) get the boot and they started the new one? Both have large feed piles I haven't found any bank dens off the newest lodge. Will be checking the older lodge hopefully Sun, Mon depending on my back (fell on ice due to lack of snow).

Still only setting at lodges/dens I see! My 11 yr old could match your catch totals setting like that. When you step in a bear trap one day as you try to leave your house, you will understand where I am coming from. Now let the vicious comments commence but you know I am right!
