I did 27 treated posts with sika foam and 4 posts rotted off at the ground level in two years. I fully expect more will fail soon.

I have used this foam product many times in Colorado purchased it at HomeDepot. Always installed in the summer hot months. Was only messy when I was first learning to use on my first few post. Result on over 60 post in the past 5 years have been ROCK SOLID. Also I prefer to use it over hauling bags of cement which for me create a much bigger mess as well as having to bring water to every post. With a bonus of a much quicker install and sealing the post in a plastic foam wrap. This is superior to cement that is holding moisture onto the post. Don't think I have anything against cement. It is one of my favorite building materials but I always avoid having cement connecting to lumber when exposed to water. You have great videos and I enjoy your opinions. Thanks for all the research.

Big misconception is that concreting will stop the post rotting however Concrete is still porous so won’t stop moisture from getting to the posts and holds onto moisture a lot longer then soil does. The reason behind using concrete is the weight it adds to bottom of the post which keeps posts plumb . Quick set concrete is great as it adds the weight however it is easier to break away to allow you to exchange the posts when they do rot

I think one benefit of the weight of the concrete might be during drought. Here in central Texas and anywhere else really hot with dry, clay soil, the clay shrinks quite a bit in the summer if not watered. I am talking about pulling back 1" from foundations and fence posts. I would imagine the weight of the concrete would help keep it more plumb, barring significant wind that would rock it. Even posts that have come a little out of plumb during drought, I was able to replumb it by gently rocking it back into place. Then water a lot or significant rain would reset it as the clay expanded. Not sure how well foam would hold to this type of abuse.

brake cleaner will dissolve the foam like magic. Easy to clean whatever you get it on.

Put a 4" screw half way in in each side of the pole and the concrete stays around the pole. Another thing is if you fill up the hole after you pour the foame and also the concrete its not as wobly. And by time the woids in the foam will fill up with the soil. And lastly. You need to mix the concrete befor you pour it in the hole. Els it will not fully cure in that short time as its not mixed 100%.

*unless there is ground water already in the hole. You never want to add wet concrete to a post hole that has a lot of ground water in it, you will weaken your mix severely

He didnt mix the postcrete good better to put in a tub add water and mix then pour in hole ensure it will catylyse and cure

It's not a new product and there's a reason only home owners or maybe a DYI type would use it. This stuff is readily available in just about every hardware store across the nation so to claim the weather wasn't "ideal" is laughable at best. I have used it on wood and vinyl. The first 2hrs looks great. Expands nicely and has a firm grasp on the post BUT come back 24 hrs later and it has shrunk and pulled away from the post. It also does not fill the volume of an 80lb sack of concrete. That's just a marketing gimmic to justify the price. It's 3 times more expensive and takes a lot longer to set posts vs dumping a bag of crete. It sure as hell doesn't secure the post so I can't think of any metric whatsoever that it could even come close to concrete. In my opinion, it's just one of those gimmick products, marketed to the unexperienced or uneducated.

I don’t understand why these guys use 2x4 to hold the post you get a good mixture with your concrete they will stand all day long until they set I’ve never had a post move unless someone messed with it 😂
