I have 2018 build Ipace and apart from the dealer breaking a coolant pump during the front loom recall, it has worked perfectly ( fingers crossed). Mostly charge at home on a 16A charger up to 80% unless making a long journey. Done 55K Kms now. Still gorgeous to drive here in NZ. Imported it myself from UK at 2yo.

If you have a Jaguar under warranty, phone the jaguar roadside assistance, they will send a roadside assistance guy to you, if they say it needs to goto the dealer then they are obliged under the terms of the warranty to supply a loan car, which should be equivalent size vehicle, but may be diesel. This is quicker than trying to get an appointment directly with the garage.

There seems to be the idea that that because EVs have far fewer moving parts, there is much less to go wrong. In modern I.C.E.s it is usually the electrics, rather than the engines which give most trouble. Many old 80s and 90s diesels did astonishing mileages, before cars were burdened with complicated electronics.

Interesting video. I have an iPace (22 model) and absolutely love it - smooth and comfortable and goes like the wind when you need it to. Since I got it I have had an issue with the Lane Keep Assist - some days it works, most days it doesn't. Not a big issue as I mostly drive on smaller roads where it can be more of a nuisance than a help. I cannot see any logic to it and there are no fault codes (I guess whichever unit is at fault doesn't think it is). Earliest booking I can get with a main dealer is mid-December and I bet that on the day I take it in it will work perfectly. In the mentime I will enjoy driving it the old fashion way with my hands on the wheel.

I have a 21 year. I don't trust the lane keep assist at all. It waits until it's almost on the line then suddenly jerks quite hard to the right. Then as it gets close to the right side line I don't want to risk ploughing into another car so I take over. Surely if it says it sees the lines then it should be able to keep in the middle smoothly

I haven’t had any problems with my used 19 I pace First Edition I bought last year. I absolutely love it. I’m in a dry area of Los Angeles so I wonder if moisture in the UK is a contributing factor that damages the electrical systems. Idk maybe I’m just lucky so far. I will be getting an extended warranty because I plan to keep it for a long time. Jaguar just announced they will be buying back all 2019 I Pace in the US for battery fires but they would have to offer me a lot more than I paid for me to give it up.

I have a 2020 plate ipace, older model with two batteries. I got some strange messages once about the brake system but the car still drove. I looked online and there was lots of information about this error being related to the 12v batteries. I had these replaced which solved the problem. Thats it in terms of issues with 50k miles, so far. Fingers crossed!!

I got a brake pedal feel reduced fault only once on my 19 First Edition. Never happened again and car drove fine. I once got a traction battery fault detected. Same thing, popped up for only one drive and never happened again. They just announced they will be buying back all 19 I pace for battery fires in the US but I adore the car so they would have to offer quite a lot for me to give it up.

The smaller 12V Battery is brake booster module back up battery. Alot on ipace can be software issue. HV heater was the biggest problem on them at one point along with the 12V batteries.

EV power train electronics demand the best SMPS designers possible. As an SMPS designer with 40+ years experience, we all know if one thing goes wrong in design topology or implementation or build quality or component problem or lifetime or odd operating gremlins then you are in deep doo doo. SMPS means Switched Mode Power Supplies. You are switching 400 volts + at hundreds of amps hopefully using the best topology, the best components in a nice cool(ish) environment and with sufficient design time. These designs are never right first time, so pressure to get to market will be intense = not good for you, the customer. Taking the issues into account, it is possible to create a reliable long lasting system. But eventually, certain electronic components will reach end of life which may lead to scrapping of the vehicle. I'd be interested in the projected 'Bathtub Curve' for EV's. It will exist, but they will resist publication. The bathtub curve details infant mortality, base failure rate and end of life for certain operating conditions. It won't include battery explosions as this will be considered an 'Act of God'.

When you pay for a premium brand vehicle, you assume that some of that premium you pay over other brands buys you some reliability. With so many so-called "premium" brands, that's not the case. Jaguar is just one example. The sort of people that have enough money to buy a Jag don't buy them. You don't get rich by paying for repairs. Instead if you look at what rich people are actually buying, they are buying Lexus, Toyota - reliable brands. brands whose cars only need routine maintenance. Only people that want other people to think they are rich buy premium brands.

i have a MY21 like the one in the video: I love it but there have been a fair few issues over the 2.5 years of ownership: leaking rear camera cleaner (hose split, new unit needed), charging flap sensor failed (new charging flap), two faulty HV cells (limited to 72% charge, awaiting dealer to fix it, booked in Jan 2025 (massive backlog)), boot won't close electronically (but will open but beeps on closing, still needs resolving). 50k miles, but quite a lot of issues for a high value premium car to be honest. Love it, but wouldn't buy another...

@@mikeolly67 F type definitely is a beautiful car, so are the XKs. CX75 should have sat at the top. They made the same mistake with the XJ220, and announced unachievable specs, in CX75 case a hybrid turbine engine like nobody has seen before or since was in the design. I also liked XE and XF, particularly XF which I think should have been available as a 3 door coupe and convertible from the first model.

It's about to get worse for Jaguar, if that's at all possible! They are reforming their dealerships which means that many will lose their franchise, so even less dealers will be available. It also seems that when their new ranges are launched they will targeting the premium luxury market where the entry level cars will start from £100k.

Issue is like with all cars-EV and classic (ICe) not all are equal. Some manufacturers really build unrepairable junk. Of all the cars we sell, it’s not the EV’s giving us issues. It’s always the ICe. However, there’s certain cars you just don’t stock. For me JLR products, particularly LR, Disco, iPace etc are top of the list and have been for many years. EV’s are super reliable on the whole. Give me an EV over an ICe car any day of the week
