I dont know if Dexter is your first dog or not, but if he’s not, you know how tough it is to see them get frail and elderly. Unfortunately our dogs have much shorter lives and watching them age is inevitable. Just remember to do what ‘s best for him and his quality of life.

I love the seeing the trees hanging over. Can be a hazard at times with the camera 😂. That is the hardest bit not knowing what is wrong. Thank you for taking us on that cruise, the canal looked nice and wide, spectacular scenery. Dexter is a worry, but he is excellent for his age and knows when to chill, keep loveing him every day as you do. Its always sad to see buildings and boats fall into disrepair, I often wonder why someone cant have them cheap to maintain. Wow nearly 4 years cruising, and Ive enjoyed every minute watching. I think that would be a great idea to get them repaired but I think it is something to do with trying to find the owner as it is still their property. There must be something CRT can do. widebeams have kitchens narrowboats have galleys because they are smaller perhaps. On narrow boats they rarely call the master bedroom a stateroom and the lavatory a head. If the master bed is a pull out there is nothing stately about it .

Hi Paul and Anthony, it is so sad to see your dogs/dog grow old and it’s hard to know when to let go. I have a 14-year-old kelpie, cross cattle dog which has cancer and it’s going to be a hard day to say goodbye but when she starts to suffer I will know that it’s time my dog Susie has had a fantastic life. Heaps of love plenty of food and heaps of care and a warm bed to sleep in, but sometimes we need to say goodbye for their sake. Lovely scenic video , what a load of garbage on the prop though, hopefully the lagging episodes were more and it didn’t pull the prop offline. I do hope you get a lot of sunny weather this summer so you can have lots of pretty cruises and many canal side barbecues . Poor Dexter, he’s having a rough time of it, I’m praying it’s nothing serious, it’s good he started eating better . Sometimes when they stop eating it can mean the end is near, just as it does in people, it’s worrying he’s lost a lot of weight though. I’ll be saying prayers he’s not in pain and is feeling better, as long as he has quality of life it’s a good thing. 🙏🏼 Usual here this week, we did get some rain which I was thankful for, we’re right into fire season now so every rain is good. The kids had their last day of school today so are full of plans of what they want to do for holidays, unfortunately my daughter Heather got called out of town last night and has to be gone for a week. Fortunately there is a little beach not far from us and they have a kayak and paddle board so that will have to do for now. It means early mornings for me, up to feed kids and pets, plan meals and try and keep them happy till Jason( SIL) gets home from work then it’s up to him. Hey Dawn. It was a beautiful cruise. It was a shame about all the rubbish in the canal. We are hoping for more sunny weather too. Who doesn’t like a tow path BBQ. Dexter got the all clear from the vets and we have started to liquidise his food and he seems to be putting on weight, which is a relief. Always good to get some rain; makes everything lush and fresh. Good you are getting to spend some quality time with the grand kids. Sounds idyllic being by the beach. We just started our 12 1/2 year old girl on Librela and cannot believe the difference. We know it isn’t a cure but it is buying her some quality time. In 2016 we flew our two dogs with us from Canada to the UK and had four months on a canal boat and did the Leeds to Liverpool as part of our tour. You are right, that whole northern area it so underrated. Would go back and do it all again!! So many wonderful memories. Rather than come back via the Leeds/Liverpool route to Llangollen, why would you try the option of the Rochedale or the Huddersfields? The Standedge Tunnel was a great experience. We couldn’t do the Rochedale that year because of all the floods the previous winter which took out locks and bridges. We tried the Rochedale again in 2022 from the Manchester end but ran out of water. Hoping to try again from Sowerby Bridge end next year - maybe third time lucky 🤞

Hey guys. It is amazing medication and definitely improves their quality of life. Glad you got to experience the L and L. It is beautiful. We have done the Standedge tunnel on our old boat via Manchester and Huddersfield narrow and broads. We can’t do it on this boat as it is too big. Never fancied the Rochdale canal. Heard a lot of horror stories about it. Fingers crossed you get to do it. Have a lovely weekend ♥️

Hi Guys and Dexter, long time since I commented, The Leeds & Liverpool canal has fantastic views and places to moor, was my fav canal when we were on our narrowboat years ago. Hope Dexter will be ok. Glad to see you are still on your health kick Anthony, my husband and myself have been on a diet for just over a year and between us we have lost 12 and a half stone, have more energy and can get about a lot easier now, we have slowed down a little now, but have no intentions of putting any of it back on, our little car really likes have a lighter load. ha ha. Excellent video as always with some stunning scenery. Those lock gates were certainly built to last. It's like us humans, as we enter old age we lose weight as we don't eat as much but it's so upsetting to watch our pets grow old even though we know it's going to happen. Hello Paul, Anthony and Dexter Dog, It’s good to see Paul carrying shopping (weight) and hear him talking about driving to his magic show, which must mean he is a lot lot better now, which is so nice to hear. Anthony, a nice bit of reversing, keeping everything positioned correctly with your thrusters. Very impressive. I was surprised you were having to varnish your skylight surrounds after only one year open to the elements. That shows how strong nature is, The Sun, The Wind, and the Rain all take their toll. Lovely to see Dexter, really sorry to hear of his issues. I laughed at seeing the Duck on your skylight. How kool is that? I really like ducks. What beautiful countryside you are travelling thru. Even when it was pouring, it still had a lovely feel about it. Those locks around Blackburn were grand almost Majestic like. You passed a building that had a big “G” that looked like a Granada TV “G”, but I’m guessing the building had nothing to do with the TV studio? Anthony your arm looked sore. I felt your pain. A lovely and interesting Vlog as always. Loving the banter (Anthony is steering the boat) Paul says to Anthony “What are you doing Anthony” Anthony replies “I’m steering the boat” That is pure Paul & Anthony banter, Thank you very much. Hey Spoolbox, It is good that Paul is on the mend. He found out he will need additional laser surgery on his other eye 🙄. I do like the challenge of reversing 😂, much easier with bow thrusters though I don’t think the skylights had been treated properly from the beginning, but the new varnish is highly recommended so fingers crossed. My arm still feels sore, almost like I have chipped the bone. Never seen a duck from that angle before 😂. Blackburn locks do look great but wouldn’t want to be stuck there 😬. I do think that the building has Granada head quarters. Brought back some memories. Glad you enjoyed and glad your comment got through. Have a lovely week and take care ♥️

Beautiful vlog and some stunning scenery. If the mink was in the same area as the geese that would make them very vocal as mink are an aggressive predator and will feed on ground nesting birds and their eggs and young. Geese are very territorial and aggressive when protecting their nest and young. I think a lot of people will have been chased or hissed at by a goose. Bless Dexter it’s hard to see them struggle with aging. I hope he’s feeling a lot better and gaining or at least maintaining his weight. My old girl had quite a few times when her health would seem to deteriorate but then a week later would perk right back up again in her final years. It is without doubt the hardest part of owning a pet when they become old and frail they really don’t live long enough. Perhaps that’s why they love life so much. They really are the best companions their love and loyalty knows no bounds. Anthony’s fitness drive and healthier eating definitely seems to be paying off and he is looking really trim and healthy. Well done and thanks for showing us another stunning part of our beautiful canal network.

Hey Andrea. Mink are terrible. We have been chased by geese when we did the Peak Forest. Breaks my heart watching Dexter age. He has thankfully started to gain weight. Dexter has the best parents ever xx I have just had my horse pts at 29 years old x had him when he was 11 years old x my lovely black Labrador Archie is 13 years old xx my bestest friend x he thinks he’s 2 xx but I see the changes xx I was told by an old farmer once if you have given your animal the best you can then you have achieved happiness for that creature x I can relate to that x big hugs 🤗

When in the UK🇨🇦, I was so surprised when people who recognized each other, stood having a chat along the road while the rain pored all over them (no umbrella in sight). There was my cousin and myself under our umbrellas😊. We have had an unusual amount of rain here lately. 90% change of rain tomorrow but after that, it is going up to 27c+ sun, sun, sun! Thank you for letting us enjoy a little bit of England…one of my friends has a Golden Retriever, she has to feed her sitting up with a spoon to stop her from being sick. I think she is 9ish.
