Growing up in Brooklyn carrozza was a popular appetizer in casual Italian restaurants and pizzerias. They weren't served with anchovies or any meat in them; though those sound delicious. This is southern Italian street food at its finest, and you made it keto. If you use keto burger buns in your homes, I recommend making carrozza using any buns that go stale with low moisture mozzarella. The filling doesn't get as flat. You just made this old Italian guys heart beat a little faster today. Thanks.

Hahaha Hi from Jersey! I was just coming down to comment and tell them the same thing about NJ and pizzarias. Keto version is awesome. I also think putting anything but mozzarella in is weird but an interesting idea. Thanks for the tip on the buns.

@Keto Twins Walmart sells Pork Panko with Italian seasoning, perfect for something like this, I use it as a breadcrumb replacement in meatloaf, chicken parm, chicken nuggets, Mozzarella sticks, or anything that uses Italian seasoned breadcrumbs.

A big hug from Italy❤ This is a common italian recipe: Mozzarella in carrozza, usually we use backed ham, mozzarella and toast bread, fried😊 P.s. we don't have Pepperoni in Italy, it doesn't exist here😂

I will vouch for Aunt Millie’s carb smart bread-my favorite is 5 seed bread- soft and very bread like. My teenage boys eat it and don’t know the difference- I wish they made rye carb smart.😢

I'm doing carnivore and made home made Chicken Nuggets the other day using Pork Rinds for breading. You guys might want to try it. I processed the Pork Rinds with Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Salt, Pepper, Paprika, Thyme ( I never measure anything, LOL ) I then took 1 lb. of ground White meat Chicken, placed it between sheets of Parchment paper and rolled it out to about 1/4" inch thick, cut them into nugget shapes, dipped it in egg, into Pork rinds, back in egg, back in Pork Rinds, packed the breading on good them put them all in freezer bags and kept them in freezer overnite to firm up. Fried them the next day...and honestly...they were the best Chicken nuggets I've ever eaten. I also used a Zero Carb, Zero calorie Polynesian Dipping Sauce that was AMAZING !

Ok. Why have I just found you two? We’ve been keto for two years. I love it that everything isn’t perfect, because that’s reality! And you are so funny. Makes watching very interesting! This was amazing! My keto bread was pretty small, so I rolled it out a bit thinner so I could have more filling. This is going on the rotation. It was our main meal and I just added a salad. Yummo! Verified fact: if you season the pork rinds, you don’t taste pork rinds!

Brooklyn Italian here too! Here's a hint. Lightly dip edges in water before dipping only edges into almond flour. Then dip in egg and panko. I've made these soooo many times. I used to use regular flour. You'll save the carbs using less almond flour. Enjoy!

This looks delish! Thanks for doing one with lupin flakes! For anyone that doesn’t like the smell of pork rinds - like ME - the 4505 brand has little to no odor. Pretty sure they’re made from royal pigs. 😊

...pristinely perfect pigs =) I've only recently come to like them, after some childhood pork rind trauma. My sister used to love them, & one day she grabbed one out w/a HUGE stiff black hair poking out of it & I freaked out! She proceeded to pick her teeth w/it & keep on eating from the bag (classy 12 yr. old, right?!)~ thought for sure I'd barf, but I didn't. Ever since, no way would I even touch them. It took going carnivore & searching for nacho chip subs that I discovered the vast range of them~ so grateful for 4505 & EPIC. I've also found a couple store brands that are really decent as well.

My mom and I used to make sandwiches that were like french toast with mozzarella in the middle. Very similar to these. They were french bread, coated with an egg mixture, mozzarella in the middle, baked in the oven. They are crispy and the cheese is gooey and delicious. Then we would dip them in marinara. I don't know if there is a way to replace the french bread but I bet the regular keto bread would be good too.

Pork rind alts: The KZbinr lowcarblife (not lowcarblove) has a breading (on his crunchy fried chicken video) of seasoned unflavored whey protein....dip in egg and whey then fry in oil......for those who especially despise pork rinds. I have tried it and it makes a great coating for chicken tenders.

Another good pork panko sub is nutritional yeast flakes. Even better if you mix them with a de-fatted almond flour like the one from Erbology, which is incredibly fine like wheat flour. Also, Sami’s bakery has a low carb GF bread that makes incredible croutons and could be a good bread crumb sub too.

This is fabulous! Ordering Lupin flakes now. Thank you so much for all the wonderful recipes and content!!! As I was watching you put the recipe together, it reminded me of a savory version of Pudgy Pie. Being from the mid-west, and an avid camper / campfire cooker, the Pudgy Pie maker has been one of my essential tools for cooking over a fire. It is basically a long-necked cooking tool designed to cook toasted sandwiches (not pies) over an open fire. If you place a generously buttered slice of lo-carb bread onto one iron, add your fillings on that half, and put the other buttered slice on top, the opposite Pudgy iron will fit over the second piece of bread. There is a little closure widget that slides down the neck of the irons to tighten them. This seals the edges of the bread so that none of the fillings ooze out. Decades ago, when in Brownies and Girl Scouts, we used to do this over campfires, only we'd use canned pie fillings. My Mama even used these back in her time with the Campfire Girls (1930's).

Everything you two make looks so amazing. Not sure where to post a request so this is the last video you made and I am putting it here. First, Thank you LMNT is so great! My first taste was watermelon. I LOVE SALT on watermelon and quit because of BP. This was so GOOD! Then this morning I added the (only) Choco one to my coffee. OMG it was like a chocolate salted caramel. I will def be getting the Chocolate for sure. So I could not find a video of yours for Keto maple syrup and could you do a really easy caramel sauce? I thought I saw the caramel but could not find it. I've been binge watching your earlier videos. I really hate to cook and standing too long in one place does me in. So doing your 1, 2, and 3 ingredient recipes has been a god send!! Thank you Ladies for all your hard work and sharing your videos. Making my life so much easier to get healthier.
