i’m latin rite and love it, but there is a maronite rite church where i used to live in minneapolis. i LOVE LOVE LOVE the maronite rite, and the people of the parish were marvelously kind and wonderful people (they’d say the mass in english when i was there. i never realized till the priest told me). may our lady and st charbel (and st maron!) bless and protect lebanon! i love you! ❤️

When my dad was in a bad health state years ago, a family friend introduced us to st. Charbel, and even gave us a cotton swab that had some of the oil from the saint's miracle. We credited my dad's recovery to this now beloved saint and to St. Peter verona. St. charbel also helped me become a better person.

Hey Matt, thank you for mentioning St Charbel. i am a Roman Catholic from south india, i found Saint Charbel through KZbin around 2018 i believe. I have this love for listening to Gregorian Chants, Templar chants and Orthodox chants and found St. Charbels videos, and his real voice clip and advices. later i flew to UAE , got job in Dubai,started working,surprised to see, Saint Charbel's picture on the wall in the church i go for Holy mass, which is ST.MARY'S CHURCH, Oud Metha. he was next to St. ANTONY of padua :) was really happy to see him there. and whenever i see names i smile, so when i was watching your interview with Charbel Raish i was smiling, and today you mentioned him. The importance of St Charbel is that, first, he was beatified at the end of Vatican II as a sign that, even if the church opened up to the modern world, it remains receptive of the richness of the traditional way of christian ascetism and mysticism. Second, St Charbel was an example of obedience to God not only by obeying his superiors but also by obeying his brothers in the convent - even if he wasn't obliged to - in everything except for sin. His was a loving obedience in Christ, which maybe explains why his prayers are that much heard. Third, by being a hermit, he reminds us that God is sufficient for true survival....

Seriously what relevance does Vatican II have with this. The Maronite Rite like all others knows its own revered or saintly figures. The Congregation for the Causes of the Saints examines the causes for beatification and canonisation of saints.

@@johnfisher247 it is true what you wrote, but also the congregation for the causes of the saints promotes the cause of a saint because it reads in his life an actual relevance for the present, which is a confirmation of the traditional way of monasticism despite the openness of the Church to modernity. This was written in the official letter of Fr. Charbel's beatification. I hope I can find it in the internet to share the link. I remember very well reading it in st Charbel's sanctuary when I was searching for my vocation into monasticism.

I want to share the recent miracle that was granted to me this past lent season: After 10 years of excruciating lower back pain due to an injury, my husband took me to a healing Mass at Corpus TAMPA FL. given by Fr. Jim Blount. That night the relics of St Charbel we’re exposed so I had a chance to kiss them. Long story short, I have been healed since that night. Furthermore, after my miracle, I realized that the official picture of his canonization was taken by one of my ancestors Father Chalhoub. My maiden name is Jessie Chalhoub Here is the pic:

What Mr Raish mentioned about St Charbel (Sharbel) speaking to his mom without seeing her (and other aspects of St Charbel's life) is depicted in the movie named Charbel, it's an EWTN movie, it's really good. I bought on Ebay, EWTN sells it as well, it is a must-see! I learned alot about St Charbel as a result and i pray for his intercession regularly, I love him!! I'm also 1/2 Lebanese, I'm so happy that there is a powerful Lebanese Saint! I know there are more, for example St Rafqua (I hope I spelled her name right) and others, God Bless!!

Somebody get Matt Fradd out of internet hibernation!!! Cameron Bertuzzi just made a video about how he almost converted to Catholicism. I asked him did he ask God about it and he said yeah I almost went with my feelings and that's how I almost converted. God and his feelings aren't the same!! There's his body in the St Maron monastery in Annaya in Lebanon. I don't know if there's any relics outside of Lebanon though.

there is an ayant lebanon and St Charbel's family home hight in the mountains in lebanon in a village called Bqaa kafra. occasionally the maronite church will take relics of the lebanese saints to maronite churches around the world but not often does this happen. the village he grew up in Bqaa Kafka is beautiful and the church in anaya is also amazing, worth the trip

Hardship makes people turn to God and grow in sanctity, attaining sanctity is the purpose of life. Like diamonds being forged through pressure and fire. St.Augustine says "The world is bitter and it is loved, if it were sweet, how it would be loved! Imagine, then, were it sweet, how intensely we would love it, and how completely forget the soul, heaven and God." As to, why would God heal some people then and not others? There's that bible passage where Jesus heals 10 lepers and only one stays to give thanks. This shows most people arent even worthy of it, that is, a miracle wouldnt make them humble themselves and grow in sanctity. This family is like the leper that gave thanks, meaning they grew in sanctity.

The Venerable Fulton Sheen has an amazing episode on the demonic, where he beautifully describes how suffering, our Crosses, are not mistakes, not irreparable evil, but exactly what we need. Christ could've merely had Christmas and that would've been enough to save humanity, He chose to have Good Friday, and out of it made Easter.
