Alright story time. I recently received an email because a liquor store was robbed. They lost 52,000 dollars worth of whiskey. The thieves stole three bottles. THREE. Tullalibardine 1952, Maccalan Reflextion and Highland Park 50 year. Rex what were you doing in New Jersey?
@ILovHelloKitty137 жыл бұрын
Not going to lie, if I WERE to steal liquor it would definitely be kinda like those three

If they only stole 3 specific items, that shows that it was a premeditated, possibly hired, job. I doubt they're ever going to find them. Professionals most likely.

Chris here, when I first started drinking whisky I would get the sweeter stuff because (I thought) I would like sweet rather than something that "wouldn't buy me dinner first". They were okay, but nothing ever really jumped out and grabbed me. I am a frequent pipe tobacco and cigar smoker so I decided to try a smoky whisky. I bought Laphroaig 10. This whisky tickled every single one of my taste buds and I immediately fell in love it Islay peat. Absolutely wonderful whisky. Since you compared it to the Ardbeg 10 I think I'll try that one next. You guys are awesome, and good luck on your new distillery.

So, I´ve been lurking on this channel on and off and am usually not one to write comments. First of all I love your channel, awesome content and very informative. The way you guys present and analyze whisky makes me want to drink one immediately, so i refrain from watching your videos during daytime ;) Secondly, after the whole "pewdiepie thing" I am glad you made this video. I was quite sure you did not want to do it after what happened. But the Mooch is right, business is business and you guys need more views and subscribers and I think you communicated your intolerance of said matter quite well in the video. Lastly, thank your for your videos and keep it up!

Just tried Buffalo Trace ... I don’t drink a lot, mostly tasting, but ... as a chocolatier, I love the coffee & strawberry notes. My only qualm is that I don’t like the pepper of rye, which is in BT & Kirkland Canadian. Any suggestions for whiskies with NO RYE?
@Coniff7 жыл бұрын
DracoRogue1218 as far as bourbon’s go, try Larceny, and really any speyside scotch Glenfiddich or Glenlivet being cheaper but solid options! I don’t get any pepper of rye in either of those three!
@1218Draco7 жыл бұрын
WisdomForWizards I dislike rye in whiskey, NOT SAYING I HATE RYE WHISKEY MIND YOU, because I appreciate the vanilla, chocolate, fruit, and sweetness, but the pepper bite & tingle is like ... if you took a chocolate ice cream with strawberry & coffee crisps and just dumping 2 Tbsp of cracked black pepper into it. Not a fan, but rye whiskey is meant to be that, so I can’t hate it

DracoRogue1218 I can dig that. Each person has their own preference and that’s the beauty of whiskey, there is an expression for every person! :)

I would suggest Bunnahabhain 12 as one of the friendliest Islay whisky`s out there. I think you could go to a highland...i would suggest Glenfarclas 12...it is freakishly good and affordable. What are your thoughts on NAS scotches? Mainly the ones that they specifically sell at airports?
@BKOLOMAY7 жыл бұрын
So my wife and I just went through tasting each of these at a local whiskey bar in Chicago (where we live). I have to say that my brain is having the hardest time wrapping itself around the taste to smell differences of some of the whiskeys. The tomintoul for example, which was the green bottled "peaty tang" version not what you had tasted great and just as Rex described...apple juice. But the smell was so strong with that smoker wood chip smell that my brain was totally confused as to what to think. However, since I started watching you guys I can honestly say that my collection has been growing along with my taste. Although, I do have to say that while my wife is leaning towards the Scotches on this list, I'm still all about the bourbons. I have a sweeter pallet and tend to go gravitate that way even though the speysides we drank tasted exceptional. I look forward to your videos each day to share a drink with someone each night even if it is by myself and my computer at times....Keep up the reviews and what you're doing, and I can't wait to get a bottle of your product as I'm sure it will be exceptional. Dilly Dilly and cheers!

I have to agree with the Laphoaig. I had some whiskys over the years but wasn't in love, used to need to mix it with coke but then then a friend let me try some of his Laphroaig neat and I immediately fell in love with the smokiness of it and it's still one of my fav whiskies which I have a soft spot for (which I think is more due to being the first I fell in love with). Also I'm a guy who loves his coffee strong! no sugar.

Edradour is an amazing distillery (killer quality). But I always find a slight note of Anise in there that turns me off.
@teufox8427 жыл бұрын
Hm...i know what you mean and i definitely get Anis in their port and madeira cask whisky`s...i like that actually because it is an interesting accent against the sweet port/madeira. But that is totally personal preference. Perhaps you havent found the right time for that whisky til now. If you enjoy a sharp cheese as an end to a dinner...i would suggest a glass of the Edradour Port Cask. For me it is a really good pairing.

Now that we've completely given into doing videos that aren't strictly reviews focused on a single whisk(e)y, what do you guys think of doing a double blind taste test/ranking? could be within a certain budget, from a specific scotch region, or whatever category your hearts desire. I have to say, I started not long ago with Lagavulin 16, and damm was it an experience. I would not say it tasted good at the first sipps but it was such an overhelming experience I tried it again and man I feel in love. For me starting with something heavy was exactly the right thing, but I have to admit I am the kind of guy who likes dark chocolate or coffee. Still today, many whiskys later, Lagavulin is one of my favourites, close to the GlenDronach Parliament (if it wouldnt be so damm expensive).
