I think absolutely the most important “feature” for a skate is how well it fits your foot. If the skate doesn’t fit right, none of the other features matter. My feet don’t fit right in any off-the-shelf skate I’ve tried, so I went with True SVH Customs. For me, they are worth it because other skates are literally painful to skate in for me, but if you don’t have weird feet and fit fine in something else, they would not be worth it for you. Also the amount of skating you do matters. I play hockey a few times a week and need to be able to skate hard for long periods of time which would simply not be possible for me with my customs, but if I only skated occasionally, I could tolerate some discomfort for an hour or two a few times a year since it would still be better than rentals.

I agree completely. I had Bauer customs, they were comfortable, apart from a bit of rubbing of my big toes. I took skating lessons, but struggled with edge drills and assumed I was a poor learner. However, after five years I bought some True TF9s which were half price with a 30 day money back warranty. That’s when I discovered that the Bauers didn’t support my ankles. My skating improved massively, I can now do powerpulls properly, with deep edges, crossrolls with deep edges, backwards scissors, and so on. Skates must fit all round, not just lock the heel in place. They must support the heel at the sides. Sadly Bauers only fit a limited range of foot shapes. I have flippers, so not even Bauer customs work.

Nothing else on the market like a Graf…never has been. Best hockey skate by far imo

I have a brand new pair 705 sz 8.5 BRAND NEW! in 2024. :)) Love the older GRAFS, sure they might be a tad heavier but they'll last the rest of my life. I'm still on my 727's after 20+yrs, not many other brands can say that.

Grafs are so underappreciated. Finally got a pair of Grafs a few years ago and they are incredible. Unfortunately, they came with some T-blades which to be honest suck. LOL.

Hi and thanks for another useful review! I have the Bauer Vapor 1X which although is not carbon fiber (fiberglass) but is more than plenty stiff for what I do and I absolutely love them. The one thing I struggle with though is finding gloves that don't wear holes in the fingers from touching the ice all the time and are warm enough to wear outside in the winter, all while offering decent dexterity. What are those you got and any other suggestions? Thanks in advance! 😉

I wear chiba Tour plus bycicle gloves and need 3 pairs per season😅 gloves get holes from touching the ice, this is normal 🤷‍♂️

Can you see if you can get Graf supra G515x. I’m interested into getting into grafs again. In Canada they use to be so popular when I was younger in the mid 2000s. Switched to Bauer and always had issues with pressure points in my feet. Never had the issue with grafs after baked.

hi, ich komm direkt zum punkt. ich hab letztes weinachten bauer vapor x250 in der tblade version bekommen und ich konnte die letztes jahr noch nicht fahren aber dieses jahr schon. und ich wollte fragen auf was ich beachten muss beim ersten mal fahren?

Dass keine Schrauben locker sind und dass es dich nicht mault😅 T-blade Kufen haben sehr viel griff, daran muss man sich gewöhnen

@AlpineIceFreestyle Ich verstehe leider echt nicht wie der Preis von dem Schlittschuh zustande kommt... Also mal abgesehen davon, dass ich den teuersten bei Top On Ice für 825€ gefunden habe... Was macht den teurer als z.B. den Mach von Bauer, obwohl der Mach eine deutlich bessere Ausstattung hat (z.B. Sohle, die Kufe, der Sehnenschutz)?

I have a t103 v4, im not sure what runner to get for it, its my first pair of skates. Can I have some opinion? edit: I did buy them second hand for cheaper prices, however the runner didn't come new, and I have little to no clue about what Im supposed to get, and if it would even ship to england.

I'm on Graf G65 now, and getting a pair of PK7900 for the next season. Price wise, you can get the Skate for about 600$ / 6oo € / 600 CHF. It's a bargain for a handmade Swiss skate (European Market). You can't compare the labor costs of a top bauer or ccm skate (which costs you about 1k) and are made in Vietnam to a handmade skate in Switzerland. Thanks for the video. I used mid-level Bauer about 6 years for entry-level freestyle, for this season I bought top-level CCM AS-V pro (CCM fit to my feet much better then Bauer) and... After some month I still hate them. Too stiff - top of the full carbon shell rub my feet on both legs and both sides (inner and outer) at gibbon, at grapevine, at some brakes etc. So I give them one additional month and will try different tightening laces (free or hard) - and if not, will by skates without carbon. In this video I saw, you used hard tightening for all eyelet - is it usual rule or just for this test? Thank you

High Level skates are just not the best choice for freestyle. Carbon is just too stiff. I am just used to it to be stiff and tight. And yes I always have my laces like this😅
