I remember one time I was riding charcoal, one of my horses to a maze in botw. Charcoal was my first horse, so I was pretty attached. Unbeknownst to me, there was a lynel on the way, and my horse unfortunately died to collateral. I was frustrated, but ended up running away because I wasn't confident I could win. I then beat the maze and returned. A little bit later, I was asked to take a picture of a stal-horse. The area was near where Charcoal died, but I didn't really think much of it. That was until I realized I couldn't find the stal-horse, and went a little further, to the place where Charcoal had died. There I found it, a lone stal-horse walking right where Charcoal died. At the time I had no horse god, so I couldn't just bring my horses back. But the only thing I could think was that this was charcoal. I took a picture of it, then I got on. It had the same stats as charcoal too, which hurt my heart even more when I realized what'd happen. I rode charcoal through the night, and when day came, we slowly trotted through a mountain path. I reveled in our final moments together before Charcoal eventually threw me off and collapsed into dust. So I suppose it's a bit cathartic to see a glitch that lets me finally take a stalhorse around permanently. (Though I eventually found the horse got and brought charcoal back XD)

that actually makes me think.. A stalhorse always spawns where, at least for me, Epona is found in BOTW. Doesn't that mean Epona died..?

The theory I have, that I haven’t had time to test: At the end of BotW you ride a horse. Normally this horse is pulled from your saved horses. If you’ve never saved or ridden a horse, one is generated for you. This horse is then saved to your stable. So, reach Ganon with 0 horse time. Kill the generated horse. Escape Ganon. Go find a Stalhorse(or moose etc). Bring it back to finish the fight. Import file to TotK. No clue if it would work, but there’s a possibility there.

I think that might crash the game if it tries to register a skeleton horse at the stable. Also, TotK probably just imports the horse's stats, names, and colors from BotW instead of the objects themselves.

To be fair, it rains a *LOT* in Hyrule in the other games as well. We just never notice because it's not an inconvenience in those. Seriously, go play Wind Waker and Twilight Princess and see how often it rains. I'd say, it probably doesn't rain *enough* in BoTW :P

I tried this and while on the last stretch to get it out of the chasm at the vertical entrance point my stalhorse managed to fall out of the cage and die... and when I reloaded because I saved before I made the cage and made sure to ride my stalhorse beforehand... it was gone... All that damn work for nothing DX

@@robinthrush9672 Wait so you expected the game to break its own rules for you? LOL! Why would a skeleton horse magically survive when every stal enemy dies at dawn? BotW didn't even establish this, its true in older games as well. And the Lord of the Mountain removes the need for horses (or walking, for that matter) due to its infinite stamina. At least in TotK you can vastly improve all of your horse's stats through actual effort. Getting a free GOD as a permanent mount without even doing anything to earn it would be sooo broken. Like, you climbed up a small mountain near the Great Plateau? Congrats, now you never have to walk, build vehicles or summon the Master Cycle Zero again...
