Alien hand syndrome is theoretically caused by split-brain where your two hemispheres are remotely active by themselves, meaning they can act alone indepently from the other. It is commonly apparent to split-brain patients or people who have undergone brain surgery or traumatic brain injury. YOU are the left hemisphere-the rational, logical you has alienated itself from the foreign right hemisphere, the abstract, emotional you. It was kind of creepy. This is a nice summary. I have alien hand syndrome, sometimes it's just simple things like throwing a pencil, and sometimes it's choking or slapping myself, which is a little bit chaotic lol. The most I know about how I got it is a combination of neurodivergent disorders and head trauma. Been banned from cooking and metal works class in school because of it, which kinda sucks. This video helped me understand it better though, so thank you for that :D

My friend had epilepsy and he had to split his brain in two so sometimes the left hand was to disagree what right hand was to do, like if the right hand was to get an shirt sometimes tge left hand was to get another shirt, if he was to get the red pencil the left was to get the green, sometimes take of the right hand and throw it.

I remember learning about this condition in relation to a procedure used to cure epilepsy. When people are diagnosed with epilepsy at a very young age, you can sever the left and right hemispheres of the brain to prevent epilepsy from ever occurring. You can only use this surgery on children, before the brain has begun using the other hemisphere. When performed on adults, the opposite hemisphere responsible for their non dominant hand would become disconnected from the dominant hemisphere and as a result, trap the part of you that's in the other hemisphere. Unfortunately, because that one is only a non dominant fragment of you, he is much less developed and intelligent this essentially meaning that you now have a 4 year old version of you in your other half of the brain. The half that uses the non dominant hand. And he can now dictate his wishes on you whenever he damn well pleases, hence the undressing, swerving into traffic, refusing food, etc.
