Since May I suddenly had super weak lungs, brain fog, breathing difficulty, and scored high for lung inflammation. Doctor thinks I suddenly became an asthmatic at 31, and put me on a CPAP though I'm nearly underweight and don't snore. I'm trying to figure out if it's something environmental, like mold.. Very informative and topical video for me XD

Yes, dimorphic fungus. Aspergillosis is most common.

@MotherDuck the fact that you prefaced this with "not medical advice" is very respectable in this day and age.

Thank you! I have had allergies since I was 17 years old, i am 24 now, and it is persistent throughout the year. They tested me for allergies, but only came up with poison ivy, oak allergies which do not correspond with my symptoms. My symptoms do vary from week to week, sometimes they stop for a week, and then restart again. I think you just helped me find the reason!
@ReyoVR Жыл бұрын
Allergy tests are not 100% accurate because the reactions from your skin or blood is not exactly the same as your lung, even though they often correlate.

Fungus on leaves and in soil can enter through your skin and grow in your skin and enter the body through ears, eyes, nose and wounds.

I also heard that over time those micro toxins could possibly make it more probable for cancers to happen. Not sure if actual properly globally creditable researches have been published on that or not though.

I wonder, were those fungi you showed earlier in the video, growing on the trees the type used to pound into a fabric for hats like what Paul Stamets wears or related to the fungus used as tinder found with Ötzi the Iceman? Another interesting video, of course. Mold is my personal allergy nemesis, along with the dust mites who favor colonizing my wool jumpers. Fascinating stuff though, as long as it’s not up my nose.

Would love to see a video on the viability of pla for food safe prints. Filament may be non toxic, BUT! it supposedly has tiny pores for bacteria and mold! Would totally be willing to send 3d printed parts for testing. Maybe ptree dishes?

Oliver, do you have any tips on how to find amoebas. I’ve watched your videos on how to find them but I still can’t find amoebas can you give me some tips please?

I think that they might be there, but that you have problems seeing them because they move too slowly.

I am a Biology teacher in a school for over 22 years now. Because the lessons in school can be a bit theoretical, I decided to do more practical Biology in KZbin. At university I studied Microbiology (research), but I changed later into teaching.

Try living in a typical rental apartment, "managed" by a giant Letting Agent chain and therefore seriously neglected, paying too much rent and bills to afford DIY or to turn the heating on this winter. Then you tell us not to inhale mold spores - as if millions of us did not already know. I can't even grow house plants because of the mold that grows on them. Until housing agencies are BANNED, fair rents fixed by a Commission and tenants are empowered to sue because of their health damage, it will only get worse.
oh c'mon you have no proof that a good part of a mouldy apple is bad for you.. you are promoting food waste
@28th_St_Air2 жыл бұрын
I find it highly ironic that on a channel about looking at things not visible to the naked eye that you would say there’s no proof that the “good” part of the apple is contaminated. He was offering some sound advice that, if there is mold on the fruit, there’s a chance you could be ingesting some even on the parts that look like they are good. It is just common sense. Please continue to eat parts of your apple that don’t look like they’re contaminated. Maybe they are maybe they aren’t.
@SoulDelSol2 жыл бұрын
The "bad part" is just the fruiting bodies. The mycelium roots you don't see are already throughout the food at that point
