I think the Dulce is a masterclass on how to do a dress watch. Nothing big and obnoxiously flash. Just class.

I actually think that this size is not too small for most men. I think vintage watches from the 50's and 60's with 33/34mm of diameter are amazing!

Yes! This is one of the best “no one knows about it” watch around. I have had one for about 2 years and it is lovely. Great video, Im glad other people are getting the word out.

You must be the most generous watch reviewer on the internet, let alone KZbin. I have a serious soft spot for HAQ watches. Keep up the great work.

It reminds me of vintage mechanical watches. I have a few and some are in that 34mm range, along with the 17mm strap width. It takes a day or so of wearing them to get used to the smaller size, then they look fine. Your focus on high accuracy quartz has encouraged me to wear more of the quartz watches in my collection: my Citizen Promaster diver, Bulova Lunar Pilot and my trusty Breitling Aerospace Avantage.

I am a fan of quartz. I was actually tickled to see GS put the 9f quartz and a display case back on their new SPGP017 can't wait to see the watch community go nuts over that one Cheers!

Best review on the internet of the Dolce (Sacm171) Thanks for the in-depth information about the movement and linage. I’ve been watching these watches for quite a while. Definitely my next watch. I’ve got small wrists, absolutely love small watches. Smaller JDM selections are right up my ally. So thin, so accurate, so elegant. You have earned my subscription, thank you.

When you said the winner could pick the GS or this watch I thought it would be obvious to go for the GS but I'm not sure now.

The information coming from internal specs from Seiko in Japanese, on the 8J and 9F movements, is universal, saying the 8J was the last “cost be damned” very robust movement made. The internal feeling is the 9F is less robust, less accurate, less shielded, and, yes, some of them scoff at the lack of an independent hour hand with which one easily adjusts to other time zones on the 8J. Of course, the very high accuracy +- 5 second twin quartz movements of the seventies were extremely expensive to produce, for example a “simple” steel edition of the Superior at 3200 Euro, but these were not robust in field use. This was evidenced by a rather charming anecdote.

So interesting and making me really appreciate these high accuracy quartz movements. The difference between these an your cheap few £ movements is night and day! Thank you for all the time and effort you put into researching them and everything watches gary!👍🏼

A watch youtuber talking about Dolce watches? Omg... Seiko's got so many underrated lines, breath of fresh air, respect.
@El1988Che2 жыл бұрын
Yup, very familiar with the 8J and 8N (they share a similar architecture but the 8N is regulated via dip switches). I had a JDM 10kt solid gold Dolce with the 8J movement. The 8J on the Credor is not just slightly more accurate, it's gold plated and better finished too, but I get your point. Those Credor can be found in Japan (using Buyee) for way less. Chrono24 prices are ridiculous lol

You should take a look at watches powered by the "Precidrive" movement. I think most of them were produced by Certina, but Tissot also released a few with that (or a similar) movement. They had three-hand versions of the movement, as well as some interesting chronograph models.

Even mashed up I think the GS is the better one to go for- how much to restore the dial I wonder? Everything is applied so you could pop off all the indices and logos, repaint the dial black and stick em on again - I’d be tempted to watch a few KZbin vids and try it myself…..

I had no ideia about this watch, thank you for enlightening us with this stunning little piece. I really like these more classically designed seiko watches, they really excel at the “less is more” principle, great balance between simplicity and elegance. And all that with a very high accuracy movement. If only the crown was a little bit bigger, the size they went with really throws of the balance of the design in my opinion.

8j movements are considered the most robust HAQs, with better stability, accuracy and build quality over their 9f successors (which cost around 30% less to produce and utilise more 'run of the mill' parts).

With Seiko producing such a high quality quartz movement in a classic watch with great finishing for a super price, it makes me wonder what the markup is on a Cartier Tank quartz which go for £2500
@ryantannehill28302 жыл бұрын
I think it would be fair to say that they spend 200ish dollars on the whole kit. Including the box and everything. However, I don't think that it's unique to Cartier.

I have 3 8j41 watches now. For my 6.5inch wrist, it's perfect. I have one that is a bit out per year, Seiko day they would need to send it back to Japan. "This particular calibre would need to be sent to Japan and it would be price on application, if the watches required a service it would be £200 - £300 each." Seiko UK. I think they just replace the movement and or entire thing. So that's the issue, there is no way to correct it if it goes out, and there were the 9F wins.
@R023N2 жыл бұрын
I was interested in getting the SACM171 early this year but ended up getting another Dolce with a 5E61 movement. I've read the 5E61 is also a HAQ, but I don't actually know what the official rating for it. There are many nice watches in the Dolce line, I believe the Dolce AGS watches are the first watches Seiko released with a kinetic movement?!
