I won a contest for a free Callaway driver fitting a few months back. I was spinning my gamer, Taylormade SIM 10.5 degree turned down to 9 with Tensei 1k White shaft, around 3200 with clubhead speed around 97 and carry was around 237. We only tried the Max LS head because I much preferred the shape of it over the others and I wanted the forgiveness over the triple diamond. We tried about 4 or 5 different shaft and loft sleeve combinations. The winner ended up being Max LS 9 degree with Ventus Red 6-S, spin dropped to around 2400 with club head speed of 99 but I did touch 100 a couple of times. Carry went up to 247 on average with a couple over 250. I left the fitting in the draw setting as I prefer that shot shape. I have since put it back to the standard setting as the big left miss was coming into play too often. I was fitted by members of Callaway and it was a fantastic experience. So far through about 6/7 rounds, this is hands down the best driver I have ever owned. It's long straight and forgiving.

Went for Max 9* with Tensei Blue 65S at first. Tried out my friends TD LS 10.5* with my ACCRA FX 3.0 260 and found a winner combo. The ACCRA shaft didn’t do well with the Max, probably because the Max head is 7 grams lighter than TD LS. Tip; don’t leave out TD LS in a fitting! So much longer and much more forgiving than you think. Good luck!

The Max LS might be my go too if it can outperform my 2016 M2 ! Either this fall or next Spring I’ll compare !

I had my OG M2 in the bag until last year when I switched to SIM. This year I got fit into the Max LS with Ventus Red 6-S and it is the best driver shaft combo I've ever owned.

@@PbD187 I tried Sim2 Max last year but my backspin was way too high 2,800 + so stuck with my 2016 M2. Spin is about 2,000 and smash is 1.48 on average. Can’t be these #’s
@PbD1872 жыл бұрын
@@stephendibari5010 I had the first SIM but still love my M2. for me, the SIM was a little more consistent on off-center strikes. I never had either of them on a launch monitor so don't have numbers. I would encourage you to try the Rogue lineup, my spin went from around 3200 to around 2400.

@@PbD187 yes I plan on comparing my 2016 M2 to Rouge Max LS this fall or next spring. Recently I hit the Rouge Max 3 wood and the feel/sound and forgiveness was amazing. If the driver is anything like the 3 wood I might be sold. Definitely will compare them and see how the performance is on trackman

I personally think the driver is the most important club to get fitted for. I pretty much got fitted for all the clubs in my bag excluding the putter but putting that first shot in the fairway makes the game much more fun.

My tendency it to miss hook the ball, I tried the LS Triple diamond with Tensei White 65 S and hit it great! I didn't see anything to make me think it was hard to hit. played my first round with it and hit it extremely well. No hooks even when struck on the toe. Even my misses were further down the fairway than I expected. My previous driver was a TM Stealth w/ GD AD Iz which was a bit inconsistent.

As a low single figure HC who plays a gentle draw with driver, I found the Triple-D so extremely fade biased it's unplayable. I push the ball 30 yards right and it take a seriously different golf move to hit it even straight. Then after getting it to go straight, when I move back to the other clubs in my bag, I hook them (3w) because im putting a dramatically different golf swing on my clubs. Why can't this club be neutral like a Titleist TSi3? Why bias the club so severely? Not even my better player buddies can hit it straight. Everyone opts for the Max LS because it's bone square.
@suzannetaylor5185 Жыл бұрын
Although I have the Ls Max. I have several friends that bomb the TD. It is definitely fade bias tho. I think a more fair comparison in the Titlelist line would be the TSI4 tho. Another extremely difficult club to hit.

Great video Michael. Was curious to ask for some guidance as I am a beginner and looking to purchase my first (non beginner set) Driver. The Rogue ST was always brought up as a recommendation because it is pretty forgiving and I believe paying for quality and a little assurance is the right way to go for myself. I am just confused to which of these I would pick. I am about 5'9" if that helps at all. Which would be a good pick of these for myself. I am not really worried about Spin yet because I haven't even begun to try to learn yet. Thanks for any help.
@MichaelNewtonGolf2 жыл бұрын
Hi. Either the Max or the Max D (draw version)….both of these are very forgiving with the D helping to reduce a left to right ball flight (slice) if you suffer from that. Hope this helps

I'm a low spin player and went with Stealth Std as I could keep the spin above 2k. My brother got Rogue ST Max and I can't keep it in the air it tends to hook and dive bomb on me. I love the look of the Max LS but the numbers just aren't there for my swing.

Shaft is wrong. Would need a higher launching shaft. Or a simple trick to try with this driver is carrying the degree of the driver head up. A quick adjustment with Callaway shafts

Most of your strikes were low on the face, thus a low launch angle, and 30-35 yards of roll out. Is this the numbers you prefer? I prefer a much higher launch angle, more carry, less roll out. I literally hate a low ball flight. Your opinion?
