Wow, this is my first Commander class review. Can't believe it took me this long. I've always felt really intimidated by larger sized figures, they seemed overwhelming to cover. But I feel like I did a decent job at highlighting the most important details about this one.
Also, I used the terms "Maximal" and "Predacon" while talking about the anime. Before anybody leaves me a comment about it, I know in the early Japanese series, the factions were called "Cybertrons" and "Destrons" and were so during the Beast Era as well.
I just changed it so my American audience would understand what I was talking about!

A little fun fact is that Magmatron is a Maximal within the Beast Machines fiction. The original toy was imported to the BM Dinobot sub-line as a Maximal with some minor paint changes and safety reason changes. Weird thing is that they kept the Predacon spark crystals instead of him having a Dinobot spark crystal. But in the BotCon comic he is portrayed as the leader of the Dinobots, a group named after the BW character, even though T-Wrecks is labeled as the leader of the group. So by default you also have a Beast Machines character and if you have Kingdom T-Wrecks, you've already begun to build up the BM Dinobots team.

The original was one of those figures that was really well done, and still holds up to a lot of modern standards. I feel the same way about big convoy but seeing how they manage to improve things on this commander, makes me really excited to see how they would improve Big convoy.

It's Beast Wars Second, cos it was the second Beast wars in Japan before they got season 2, which was Beast Wars Metals. Heck i don't think they even got season 3 so were left on The Agenda's cliffhanger and made things weird when they got Beast Machines.

The only problem with Magmatron for me is how hollow Seamour's neck looks. I don't want to be yapper here, but it just bothers me since he's in Commander Class and not a big one. Other than that, this guy would be amazing.

I was eager to get him from day one, as i never had the original. Finally got him yesterday, and I'm honestly wrapping my head around him. He's got such a presence i just leave him looming over things on the top shelf. The colors, sculpting and oddly horrific yet regal layout of the design is just something to behold. The character was written in high regard in what few american comics he was featured, and this plastic version really brings him to life. I'm very pleased to own him, even if I do acknowledge some of your critiques like the hip skirts, and somewhat cumbersome posing process.

Got mine a few days ago. Easily one of my favourite figures of all time. I was also really surprised by how fun he is to transform. The dino-bone is pretty good too.

I honestly really liked Magmatron's characterization in the show, while all his Predacons were kind of insane goofballs, he was always portrayed as extremely level-headed and calm, despite his very fierce look. He gave off the feeling that he was this intelligent tactician, making both him and Big Convoy (who was literally looking after cadets) often come off like "the only adults in the room" lmao. Galvatron in II had a pretty similar characterization, he was also a pretty chill and fair leader, but he didn't really have much of a chance to shine between getting constantly knocked out by Megastorm, or succumbing to his drunken rampages.

As a HUGE Beast Wars fan, especially the Japanese cartoons, yet somehow I don't actually like Magmatron. I never got his OG Figure, and I don't really WANT this. However, I'm very glad that you enjoy it.

7:19 The Magma Blade on the original Magmatron figure, in addition to being the hilt of the sword in the default configuration, had a secondary configuration as a pistol, where you would flip the handle down and insert one of the missiles stored in the Elasmosaurus to mimic a pistol. I have a feeling the blast effects that came with Magmatron were to recreate that feature of the original toy as well.

Those hip skirts really do bring down the figure for me. They're so big, they force his arms into an A stance which hurts my shelf space along with his somehow not compressed tail in the back, and they're pinned in too so it's not like you can take them off easily either. Dunno why they didn't try to integrate them into the torso.

so magmatron is the first commander release to not have any springs on the figure ? bit of a shame, conqidering Jetfire and Magnus both managed to feature that (jetfire has a set of springs fir transformation and magnus has also one for his matrix)

took me some time if i went for him or not. Commander yes, but, prices are not getting sympathy from me. I don't like his hands with that hole. Why not do the engineering like jetfire siege? that was so cool. He is massive and fun to walk around. The details are so awesome and so ..let me say it like this. If I was a beast "lover", i'd "love" this guy till kingdom come, meaning milk flood out of my nose. Magmatron did deserved an update, but of course, in today's definition of upgrade, you loose all gimmicks and play features from original toy. Which is why i know hasbro will f*** up when doing Big Convoy, in which the original toy is already and incredible figure. I rather go back in time i get him, then new bland no fun dude. If you get big convoy , original version, i assure you , you will have fun with your Sister. ..or by yourself. Choose your Destiny. xD
