Thanks Razor, really appreciate the feedback. One of the best things about being on this platform and interacting with other content creators is how much we can learn from each other. My reviews are based on Jang's reviews from about 10 years ago, but just as I put in my own flair, so do others such as yourself. Ideas flourish and content evolves as everyone comes up with different ways of doing the same thing. The Traxxas lawsuit was just the final nail in the coffin for HPI they were already struggling financially and getting ready to file chapter 11 bankruptcy. Even if Traxxas wouldn't have sued them they still would have went under things were that bad. Hobbico was the same situation, even without the Traxxas lawsuit they were 50 million dollars in debt.

What lawsuit are you referring to? Was not aware of T-brand suing HPI for anything, so what specifically was the lawsuit about?

I wish hpi would give us a nitro version of this truck. I know nitro is dead to 99% of people now days, but I’m a nitro guy and think a 2wd vertical plate MT with a small block would be kick ass.

Another great review Vas. Thumbs up for your honesty on all reviews. Hpi / maverick are so underrated in my honest opinion, eg - hpi trophy truggy flux brushless truggy 4s, fantastic looking rc car / a lot of upgraded alloy parts out of the box and with mine all i have done is upgraded the servo to a 25kg and had no issues whatsoever. Keep up the good work. The most knowledgeable person on rc is definitely you on not only 1 brand but all. Very rare in this day and age when so many hobby stores employ people who don't have enough or any knowledge about rc products. Always look forward to your reviews. 👍🇦🇺. No i wouldn't pay that price for a 2 wheel drive mt that needs upgrades out of the box.

I like tooling with things. My first ever was a Traxxas Stampede 1997. I had so much fun with it. I built it myself and i would clean it with q-tips after each run. I just bought this truck for 189.00 usd. Im stoked it was a great deal.

I like these - a lot of bang for your buck. It would really benefit from AVC or equivalent. I guess at 6.5kg thats pretty weak for a servo but maybe the fact that there's no power to the front wheels lessens the servo's shortfalls a little. HPI has been improving and updating this platform for millennia so it's pretty dialled. Definite thumbs up tho

I believe that a 2WD monster truck is the most fun you can have in RC. Yes 4WD is best for racing but how many racers have a smile on their face after a year of racing? Bashing is where the smiles are! Has to be brushless and if it comes brushed that’s fine, but when I burn the brushes out I’m changing to brushless. As for your question about would we spend $495 in Australia well that is an easy no. That’s way too much money for such a simple truck that doesn’t have bumpers or a bulletproof drivetrain or even a good servo. As you mentioned you love your old 2WD stampede. The ECX Ruckus is a clone and is just as much fun. If anyone asks me what is a great first RC to get I say 2WD monster truck. And get one second hand if you want a total bargain

Nice review. No front bumper & no wheelie bar, on the 3s MT V2 Flux version. Talk about short cuts 😂 I’m more interested, in the new improved (so I’ve read) Maverick Quantum Flux Plus MT or XT 4x4 versions, for the price. Keep up the good work 💪🏼

It’s time for real 1/10 scale to make a big comeback. Forget these 1/10 that are actually 1/8. But not sure about 2WD. Hard to stop and turn. HPI doing a great job overall

Most of the HPI range are just old out of date trucks, with unbelievaly high prices. They are having more success with their value Maverick range in my opinion, for a lot less money they have the Quantum range. Which are proving to be pretty good cars & trucks at a great price. Onroad cars like the new Quantum R flux truck or new Muscle car version, plus the original Quantum Flux MT/XT & also the Quantum Flux Plus trucks.

I miss 2wd vehicles they are all slowly disappearing. Here in the US other than the Jumpshot, we have the Traxxas 2wd and the Ecx 2wd vehicles unless you count the Arrma Granite Voltage or the Chinese rc cars from Amazon, Alixpress or Banggood. Sadly you can only buy Ecx vehicles in hobby stores now so the brand is dying out. Aftermarket companies are stopping production of parts for the Ecx brand and the official Ecx upgrades are pretty much all gone too, most of what is available is just relabeled offbrand Chinese stuff. -edit- I almost forgot about the old school Tamiya stuff like the Lunchbox.

No I wouldn’t pay $490 for it - I’m not sure who it’s actually designed for and what place it has. Long term Arrma Granite will be a much cheaper truck to maintain with greater product support.
