Well apparently you love material possessions more than someone else, or you’ve never lost someone close to you. I get “loving” something that you have spent that much time/energy/money to get it perfect, but it’s still just a car. I’m not some hippie wac job that says material possessions are insignificant, but in the grand scheme, they’re not all that we make them out to be. If I had to start all over with just my kids and my wife and the clothes on my back, I would still be a lucky man.

@@ErikTS Good luck. I was driving a Volvo I had just bought maybe two days ago and this guy rear-ended me. There wasn't a whole lot of damage except for all the paint on the the bumper was kinda shattered and coming off. God knows how much that was gonna be and I may even have more damage than I thought. It was two Mexican guys that didn't speak English well so I made sure that I let them know I was calling the police and gave them plenty of time to say something if they were illegal or something. So the cop shows up and it turns out the other guy didn't have insurance. Fml. The police gave me the guy's info and sent us on our way. I was already pissed because I did not like the way this was going. After a couple of weeks of not being able to get ahold of him, I said "fuck it" and decided to go to his address and find him. So, I go to his address, which happened to be an apartment, and knocked on the door. Some Mexican lady holding a baby opened the door, and I shit you not, there was around 15 Mexicans in the living room behind her. I asked for the guy by name and of course they acted like they had no idea what I was talking about until I just got frustrated and left.

Many news outlets and the general public like to talk about how these Cannonball attempts are surely dangerous because speed and such. But the public didn't bat an eye when the restrictions on truck drivers were scaled back temporarily. Who would've thought that the one crash ever so slightly related to a Cannonball this year (where the driver was merely taking the route and not setting a record) would be due to a trucker falling asleep and not a driver going fast? Actually, we all knew. Because we know that being attentive while driving is arguably more important than following the black text on a white sign. But the general public isn't ready for that conversation.

I feel so bad for Arne. Non car people won’t get it but losing a car with this much sentimental value is like losing a loved one. That said, don’t even attempt to fix it. It’ll never be the same, it will never drive the same.
@Adierit

i've seen people fix much worse rear end collisions, you'd be amazed what a sawzall and a welder can do, just gotta find one that was in a front impact so you can cut the rear off as a replacement
@robertperillo1799

Confinium sure, you can get it to look fine to the untrained eye. But this cars unibody structure is undoubtedly smoked. Even if it’s by an infinitesimal amount, these cars are built to such tight tolerances, it will never line up correctly on an alignment rack. And for that reason, I definitely wouldn’t want to take it to triple digit speeds - which defeats the purpose.
@Adierit
@Adierit 3 жыл бұрын
@@robertperillo1799 they make plenty of kits with more adjustable range than the factory suspension, thus allowing you to realign even a wrecked car, the only reason people dump them is for the time it takes, and the fact it'll still have a salvage title

Confinium I had a GTR that was in an accident and ended up with similar damage. It wasn’t worth fixing due to the frame damage but I was far too attached to let it die. The shop did an incredible job. But when you really pushed that car to the limit you could tell it wasn’t the same. I don’t think most drivers would ever notice but when you have really connected with a vehicle you know exactly how it will feel and respond. The second you bend or cut and weld the frame it’s not the same car anymore.

As an autobody Technician, anything is repairable if the money is there. I personally have repaired a few different vehicles that had a similar hit to the rear. That one side is a bit expensive. That being said, it can be done. I wish you luck in a hopeful restoration of your baby.

Cumminskid07 I want to like your comment but I cannot due to your Thin Blue Line flag. Sorry. I understand the value provided by and need for Law Enforcement but the way our current system is structured disgust me. That flag represents a flawed and dangerous system that unnecessarily harms people on both sides. The training given too and the culture of Local Level Law Enforcement endangers lives on both sides. The use of double talk, investigative manipulation, intimidation for compliance, sanctioned lying, militarization coupled with the issues surrounding qualified immunity and accountability is a recipe for radicalization. That radicalization in addition to the unintentional alienation of members of the community is exceptionally dangerous both to their efforts and at times their lives. The fault does not lie upon the individual officers, the fault lies upon the system that they are part off. The system that flag represents. Sorry for making this political. I just wanted to make sure your aware of that viewpoint.
