Heart of fire was incredible because it took the "complete it 5 times", reduced it to 3 and made it so there were 3 alternate routes. This meant you only had to play it 3 times if you were good with getting books, making the "ugh I have to do it again" into a "oh I wonder what the other path will be like"

Another throwable idea: make blunderbombs float in the water if they’re thrown - and then if a boat or player hits it, if explodes. Opens up great defensive and offensive plays

That tall tale was the first I ever did in the SoT. I was new and was entrance by the prospect of owning a curse with the ashen on within reach I immediately went for it. Took me a whole day to finish all the commendations but was worth it. I had my first curse. Although I’ve since traded for my new favorite, the curse of sunken sorrow, the ashen curse holds a special place in my heart.

Heart of fire will always be one of my favorite tall tales. I think it's just brilliantly done in so many ways. The music (the background music as you're making your way through the caves, the imposing Flameheart theme as you're discovering the Burning Blade, the tragic orchestral version of Sticher's Sorrow when he's cursed by the chest), Flamheart's voice and dialogue as he talks to you and mocks you, the overall design of the Heart of Fire and the traps (but also of Stitcher's Hideout, featuring a prominent heart), the masked stranger secretly watching the ritual, like a secret you can discover. The nod to Monkey Island that is the final cave that contains the burning blade. Flameheart's sinister laugh at the end, leaving you with the feeling that this isn't over yet. But what really made this tall tale special to me is that it gave you the feeling that there are secret places in the Sea of Thieves that are just waiting to be discovered. With Stitcher's Hideout and the Heart of Fire being on/under existing islands, it gave you the illusion that these secrets have always been always there and you just didn't realize it, it gave already existing locations new meanings and importance. And of course, it showed how much Rare learned from earlier tall tales: It's not as repetitive as previous tall tales, because you only have to complete it three times and every time is different. You are also at a low risk of PvP encounters, and it strongly focuses on narrative and atmosphere, not on long and complex riddles. To me, it's just a perfect example of how Sea of Thieves can produce strong, narrative, story-focused, almost singlerplayer-like experiences. I regularly come back to this tall tale and replay it, just like you would rewatch a movie you really liked. I really hope we will receive more tall tales like this one in the future.

IMO heart of fire was kind of a mid tall tale- 8:27 “Traps that are much less frustrating than this” Nope nope you’re right, that’s definitely an improvement. I stand corrected. I hate that section too, I’ll take the flaming spike traps that can easily be extinguished over the annoying impalement spikes and Stabby things any day

When i saw the curse in the update trailer, i immediately started doing the tall tale for it when i got home from work. i spent 4 hours that night straight doing it, last run of it i had to rowboat in cause the 1st time someone stole my supplies but left my boat, so i had nothing to fight a skelly ship that spawned. Was so proud of myself getting that curse first night

forgot to mention the shamrock tankard in the emporium for st patricks day. it was added in this update, was only available for this patch, and never returned unlike other seasonal pirate emporium items (skeletal pets, feast instruments, etc.) honestly its gorgeous and remains as one of my favorite unintentional mementos as it was released literally right as the quarantine started, just a little reminder of the update that got us all through those first few hard weeks. never found a better one to swap it out for as few other tankards can rival its unique style with the glistening foam

i like heart of fire, but in my opinion shores of gold is so much better. the whole idea with the shroud, the massive island which almost noone in the game encountered (i believe under 5%), the challenging dungeon, a boss hard (by sot standards) bossfight and a gorgeous cinematic. all this, just to hand over the marvelous skull to the next crew waiting at the dungeonexit.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the game has progressed pst the need for naval combat, and I love naval combat. The boarding meta is out of control, all you need is one boarder, a couple chains, and one cannonball and that’s a sink every damn time. Boarding needs to not only favor high skill play, but also not over reward good boarders with sinks. Something needs to change.

I like heart or fire tall tale the most just because how it works cause all the tall tales work the same u have to do it 5/3 times and u have to do the same thing every time only thing that change is location but u have to do the same vault dig up the same chest or kill the same skeletons it get boring while in heart of fire u have the path system where each time u have to play to get the curse u have to do 3 different paths that have different things

Heart of fire was pretty great. I guess the combination lock every time and The parkour courses are very well designed. I actually replayed it the other day to get my first tall tale milestone since I'd completed them all long ago. I wouldn't mind replaying some more just to mix things up.

When i got sea of theives 2 years ago,i was only playing the normal "online" and never got into the story even though i am a sucker for lore.Now after being a veteran of the game i started all the Tall Tales.Heart of Fire is by far the best SINGULAR adventure saga in the game.I know it continiues the events of seabound soul but its not connected that much in the same way as the others.I still prefer the shores of gold final tall tale but thats because its the Peak of a saga in the sea of theives and its more or less a good finish for a fantastic story or a climax if you will.However i still have this sense that the Hear of Fire is the start of a story arc that Rare didnt continiue and it is on hold.Idk if my english is bad but i would compare that factor of the tall tale with the shroudbreaker tall tale,it was just the start you know.

Idk why people don’t use fire bomb too often because they are very much amazing and annoying. Throw a couple and then, the person is on fire, the ship is on fire, the fire is LOUD, can’t hear me climbing or moving, hard to see, taking damage over time, have to now watch the ship and yourself, and not light your team on fire and Remember that’s just ☝️ one of them being thrown.
