what really gets me about this game is how beautiful the art and character designs are and how that contrasts so heavily with the absolutely depraved content within the story. marie is gorgeous physically, and that in turn makes her even more intimidating-- that a woman like her could be such a devil on the inside. rich people just be like that **shrug emoji** the writing being pretty compelling is an interesting component too, they could've just phoned it in but the writers put their all into making sure every scene is as raunchy and disturbing as possible. it's not an easy ride but it's one i just can't look away from

"It's an Empress game," is how I would describe it. A lot of their VNs tend towards this kind of content. Though I'll admit that Starless is probably one of the more "extreme" titles. Their fans know what they're into and they keep making that for them. It's definitely not my cuppa tea but I respect the grind.

I wish someone told me there wasn't much of a point to Starless if you're not reading it for the porn. It's like one of those old Italian movies made for shock value. Early on it's almost like you're teased towards possible future developments - the boiler, the strange breathing sounds coming from one of the locked rooms in the basement, Sachie herself, etc. but nothing matters. I expected a story and all I got was PTSD and a phobia of rich people. The "good" ending isn't even good, there was no catharsis or closure; MC and Mitarai are permanently screwed from the drugs, not to mention the NTR ending implies the Mamiyas keep an eye on former servants. Just want to add you're especially right about one thing, hentai based in "reality" is magnitudes more messed up than something like fantasy elves getting orc'd because there is an element of truth to it (see the relatively recent case of Jeffrey Epstein) and because of the inherent porn focus the subjects are handled crudely. @@beneil2 MC, Mitarai and Sachie leave per their contracts after Sachie thwarts a trap set up by the Mamiyas to keep MC and Mitarai trapped in the mansion forever. Mikako and Makoto are sold into sex slavery, their fates after that unknown (Makoto is possibly forcibly medically feminized and later killed at some point if one of the other endings is anything to go by). It ends with a time skip, MC and Mitarai are having sex. Mitarai appears to be pregnant. MC narrates how the events of the mansion changed their lives forever. He says him and Mitarai, due to the permanent side effects of the experimental sex drugs the Mamiyas gave them, are now horny 24/7. Mitarai's brother got out of the hospital owned by the Mamiyas safe and sound presumably (though knowing one of the endings where you watch Mitarai get gangraped in the hospital, I shudder to think what the guy went through). Also, I believe MC and Mitarai started a restaurant business together, which in this universe (knowing the fates of Mikako, Makoto and the husband/father) is a bad omen. Almost like the writer wanted to make the "good" ending as ominous as possible.

Unless the protag is the top and sadist himself, like in Hadaka Shitsuji, I won't even be interested in picking this up. Unless you're a sadist who can disconnect from the protag and watch him suffer, I suppose, lol. Anyways! Thanks for the review! Now go get some rest and play some wholesome stuff. BB could have been a pg17 horror thriller and could have had themes similar to Death Note had Minase been another character type. While what ultimately became of BB is still thematically appropriate, given demons and stuff, I still sometimes feel there was wasted potential there.

@@fwra1234 Curiosity out of the reputation it has. The two most infamous Sei Shoujo works or hentai/eroge among the general public is Bible Black and Starless. That and general KZbin "good and unique idea, should perform well". I may regret it and hate it, but gotta keep an open mind to everything lol

Ok, after going through research after research, I do not see a simple ending where the Mamiya family gets caught by the authorities, are arrested by the cops thanks to a secret wire taping or something, or where the law finally catches up with the Mamiya family to which they are finally thrown in jail for life. If there *will* be a possible future game that has that simple, or at least, secret good ending where the law finally catches up with the Mamiya family and has them thrown in jail for an eternity, then that would at least leave me feeling satisfied and relieved.
