The intro was recorded over What's The Story (Morning Glory), which was the title track of their second album. This is northern English rock at its finest, and one of the band's most memorable tunes. Thankfully they saw fit to place this track as the first on the B-side compilation album, The Masterplan. An absolute classic.

Oasis B sides are just incredible. Most bands would kill for this array of material. Noel gallagher was just a song writing machine
@imposs-up1hg Жыл бұрын
The Jam, The Smiths and Oasis were the three bands that consistently had B-sides which could have been hit singles in their own right.
@smithjswanchat13 жыл бұрын
Noel has said he would be asked by the label for a b-side and he would write something, which just happened to turn out invariably to be great. When told he should save those b-sides for the next album his thought was, "why, I'll just write another" which he has admitted was his ego knowing he couldn't do any wrong at this time. That's why the b sides tend so good, they were not written as b-sides and they were not songs that didn't "quite make the original cut"

This American caught them in 96 a few weeks after knebworth. There tops then. Thanks for the great rock n roll from the Beatles, zep, stones, Bowie, pistols, Smith’s to oasis, were frankly is stopped. An amazing cultural run. It stopped in this country too. Last great one here for me was Nirvana.
@sorscha13083 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's nice to see. I was on uni exchange in upstate NY in '99 (big mistake, middle of effing nowhere doesn't even come close). All the kids we met there either had no clue who they were at all or were very sniffy about Oasis for some reason & kept banging on about how Oasis was a Beatles rip off band. I honestly think it was the accents that did that to be fair (Noel said himself at the time that they ripped off Bowie way more than the Beatles 🤣). The U.S. just hadn't come across a UK band (other than punks etc) singing in their own and in both cases northern & not entirely dissimilar sounding to an untrained ear, accents. I never thought any of that 'rip off' nonsense was fair comment - musicians take inspiration from eachother all the time and noone could ever reasonably mistake Oasis for ANY other band, The Beatles, or any other of the Brit Pop wave included.
@joegibbskins3 ай бұрын
@@sorscha1308eh Liam Gallagher was dressing like John Lennon for a while and telling people he was the reincarnation of John Lennon. They kept referencing Beatles lyrics in their songs. Be Here Now had a photo of a sign in it that said something like The Beatles are good…Oasis is much better!” So like that opinion was overblown and dumb. They don’t sound that much like the Beatles, but they definitely courted the comparison

In 95 when Oasis started the campaign for the new single, Some Might Say, they appeared on the tv show The White Room and performed this. I couldnt believe how amazing it was and then later more amazed that it was actually the b side. The song in the background at the start is Noel doing an acoustic demo of Morning Glory. This was way before the finished song was released on the forthcoming album. They did like to tease us Oasis fans 🙂

In terms of Oasis lead singing, Liam does most of that, he's the lead singer. Noel is the songwriter of like 99% Oasis songs, he sings in most songs in some way as support. He also has lots of solo records of just him singing like look back in anger. "Let there be love" is the only official recording of a song that i can think of them both sharing vocals. In concerts they would share vocals sometimes mainly because Liam was loosing his voice or would walk off stage in the middle of a song and noel would have to take over. With that being said they both have great voices. Liam's is unique and powerful. Noels is smooth, consistent and has wider range. That boy can go really high. Check out "free love on the freelove highway" or something like that with Ricky Gervais. Its a joke song that the Micheal Scott character in the British office writes. ( sorry I know the office originated in Britain and its insulting to not know the guys name..but I'm drawing a blank...Brent? Maybe 😬) Anyways noel does backing vocals and the song is pretty good. I think 🤷♀️.
