Thanks for the kind words Austin and everyone. I really enjoyed meeting you fellow guitar geeks at the sale, and I would like to comment on the possibility that the auction house dropped-the-ball on the estate sale. Early, before the sale started, I too had a lot of questions about the sale.....because I had no idea what was going on with the family. There was a lot going on that none of us were privy to. Unfortunately the estate company "My House To Your Home," were thrown curve balls several times while they were in the MIDDLE of dealing with what was a MASSIVE lifetime amount of personal items. (Like a full basement!!!!!) The owners, Kim and Rob Doolittle are two of the most AWESOME small business owners you could ever meet....so let's show them some love. They care about what they do, work hard, and ALSO know guitars very well...they have BOTH done time at Heritage Guitars. So they knew exactly what they were doing. With regard to the condition of the sale items: Much of the wood stock and Gibson items were blems. Much of it was also Heritage stuff....there's so much more I could publicly say about how Kim and Rob have been sadly disregarded on the business end....but I don't want to stir up a hornets nest in Kalamazoo. The path Kim and Rob chose was the right one. This sale could have easily devolved into an even WORSE nightmare for them...in the end...the responsibility for any missteps is not with Kim and Rob. Stay safe out there guitar peeps! Again, thanks for the kind words, Austin.

This may have already been addressed, but I think the wooden guitar cutouts at the beginning were used to make clocks instead of coasters. My former sister-in-law's mother worked in the office of the Kalamazoo plant and I remember her having a clock that was the same shape as these. I don't recall if she got it as a retirement gift, or a "X years of service" gift or something else entirely. It sat on an angle on a pedestal. Her favorite story was when Peter Frampton sat on her desk and ate from her candy dish. Cool episode!

That's not a small care package, that's a big care package 🤘🤘 that was awesome to see. Remember that video you did of that auction. Much respect to Eric for sending you all that. Especially the award. All of it will definitely look good in the museum 🤘🤘 one day I hope to see that museum

Inlay, carving polishing shaping? the whole works? The tail pieces were the coolest. Would rock. Decorated some of the coolest guitars in the world, AND made them cooler.

If you were referring to my comment from the other Maudie Moore sale video. I never said Eric bought everything, I said he bought a lot. And to be clear I didn't mean that in a negative way. The comment was meant to inform you of who had a lot of the stuff so you could maybe acquire the pieces you wanted, which seems to be what happened. I spoke to Eric at the sale and he is a very nice guy. I got one of the little wooden acoustic cutouts too, I plan to put a finish on it and hang it on the wall.

Love your stuff Austin, I look forward to it every day. Your knowledge of electric guitars enriches me frequently. That said, you’d do yourself a favor by learning more about string instrument history, and related string instruments. That mandolin-shaped plaque is specifically an F-style (for Florentine) mandolin shape, invented by Gibson legend Lloyd Loar. And the headstock veneer you say is from a mandolin is really from a banjo.

That hammer is similar if not the same as a tool used to do fencing for livestock. Complete with cutting pliers as is on the tool you were gifted. That was so cool of that guy to gift all them items to you. I'm guessing you'll have them displayed with Maudie's award . The concert for Bangladesh featured George Harrison and friends and is quite an interesting album to listen to if you haven't heard it.
