Best case scenario, they'll get the majority of their nutrition from all the greenery that grows on your farm. The grain is really only to train. Hence, the term grain trained. That way, they come to you, and you don't have to chase them. 😊❤🎉

I don't think your smile could get any bigger Kyle when you are on your toy...uhhhh I mean tractor!😂 Shanon I pray you are feeling better🙏🙏. Beautiful land and beautiful time of the year. This may sound silly with all the trees you have on the property but maybe you could plant some fast growing trees/bushes as a sound break/barrier near that road. Just a thought. Spruce truly is like a little kid you take somewhere and they have to be looking and touching everything...but in Spruce's case, trying to eat everything! 😂😂❤❤❤

I'm with one of your other subscribers, y'all & Cog Hill are my favorites! You might want to leave some of those SNAG (standing dead trees) for the wildlife to nest in. Just beware of widowmaker branches. I just found out recently about the caterpillars. Here in Florida, we have a caterpillar that gets on citrus. It looks like bird droppings but if you touch it (with a stick) 2 red antenna come out and scare you. But it is the caterpillar for the Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly!!!

Some caterpillars in Missouri can sting: saddleback moth caterpillar, io moth caterpillar, stinging rose caterpillar, monkey slug caterpillar, and buck moth caterpillar. In Missouri, the flannel moth caterpillar or puss caterpillar can cause the most painful sting and reaction.

Shannon!!! I just learned today there are NUMEROUS caterpillars that one should NEVER TOUCH!!! There was an example of an orange one on a gals car. Her husband stopped her from reaching out to move it. Turns out, it was a certain kind that has these knife like protrusions (hidden by “hair”) that stab you and are extremely painful for days to a month!!!! The YT short goes on to detail how many caterpillars are poisonous, bite you, etc. and we should never touch them especially if they are brightly colored!!! Which in nature can indicate poisonous. Who knew all this?? Not me!!!! Sorry to bring bad news 😮☹️😢
@teenagardner3623 Жыл бұрын
Not to mention, some caterpillars come from invasive species of moths/butterflies that can wipe out your brush.
@stilllearning8360 Жыл бұрын
@@teenagardner3623 Wow! I really had no idea about this! Growing up, all we ever saw were the fuzzy black caterpillars that were completely harmless. As Kid’s we picked them up and held them gently without any problems at all! Had no idea Shannon had excellent instincts about these potentially danger insects. Thanks for the additional info 👍

Yes, the caterpillars are many with poisonous parts and we’ve been told to not touch any in the Michigan areas. Be careful of them, please?🥰🙏🏻
@conniewilson5531 Жыл бұрын
Yes, not all caterpillars are created equil. Some are harmless while others, not so much. It would be worth your while to research the different types of caterpillar in your area to know which are which. And if you plan on growing hay, there is a type of caterpillar known as an army worm 🪱 and as the name implies, it can whipe out an entire crop of hay. The more you know the better. 😊❤🎉

Beautiful day. I have a suggestion if you want to work your trails later is to mark any dead trees now while you can easily determine if they are dead. Foresters mark the trees by tape or with paint on the ones that they want to remove.

As you walk through the trees to check out future paths you should carry a roll of neon colored tape to mark the trees that look dead or dying. Then when you have time, possibly in the winter when the trees have dropped leaves you can go back to take them down.
@tanyabailey2784 Жыл бұрын
Yes, for sure. That goes along with the comment I made earlier thinking they should mark their trees that have the prettiest colored leaves on them now as they are changing. That way they wouldn't take down any of the trees that had the prettiest leaves when they are bare this Winter.
