4:08 There is a video on KZbin in which the developers explain the reason why each character gets their individual abilities. In my opinion it makes sense. Ron can see secret passageways because he is a Weasley, and has grown up in a family of wizards. Hermione is smaller and agile, so she can fit underneath small gaps. Harry is athletic owing to his prowess in Quidditch, and therefore can make greater leaps across platforms. I would say that Hermione's is the one that perhaps has the weakest foundation, but she does learn the most spells at least which makes sense given her character.

The animation was refreshing, the switching between characters was an interesting mechanic and exploring the castle and it‘s grounds felt like the biggest open world game to me 😂 Compared to the first two games (PC) I think it aged the worst though. Like the controls e.g. But I still enjoy playing it once in a while ^-^

I used to play this game so much back in the day. I've played it recently and it's just as good as I remember it to have been. What I will say is that the graphics whilst using an emulator on the PC makes this game look really good. This game certainly holds up. The only real negative as you mentioned is the fact that you only have two buttons to equip spells and potions. But everything else is great. Listening to the soundtrack, in particular the snowy music gives me such nostalgia.

This is probably my third favourite game in the series. Just below the 6th gen console versions of the first two games. Yes, Philosopher's Stone was remade on PS2, GCN and Xbox in 2003, and yes, most of the assets are just reused from Chamber of Secrets, but it's still a fun game. Really enjoyed this review. Now I'm curious whether or not you have any plans to review the Half-Blood Prince game.

These harry potter games have good moments but I've never been blown away by them, they just have good nostalgic value. On the thumbnail about the plot it dosent help the film dosent really work well for a game as nothing happens until the shreaking shack. Nice video enjoyed the analysis as there was some things i didnt even consider until you mentioned them. Probably my favourite out of the 3 on the ps2 but i much prefer the gba advance version as that is fun with turn based combat and each character being distinct enough.

Still don’t get why both Chamber and the “remake” of Philosopher’s run at 60 frames on the GameCube and Xbox but this one runs at 30 on all consoles so unless you played the first 2 on PS2, it’s really jarring to make the switch to this game, it’s the same engine but it runs significantly worse 😢
@herczegmarton9972 Жыл бұрын
It's a different engine actually. And yes while the textures and character models look better, the colours, the lighting and the general attention to detail are worse compared to the previous games. And that it runs at half the frames is the cherry on top. If you want to play it today there is a 60 fps code for the PCSX2, works rather well. Dolphin is usually a better choice but this game runs terrible on it for some reason.

This game may have had mechanics and animations that were an improvement on the PC version. But I definitely prefer everything else about the PC version, just a much more fun and satisfying game with more to do, plenty of challenges and sodequests, fun mechanics and better exploration imo. I had the PC and game cube version as a kid, the game cube version is the same as PS2 and it pissed me off so much.
@yrooxrksvi71422 жыл бұрын
The only things the PC version did better were the portrait secret rooms, a few more spells and some cutscenes. But PoA PC is mid as hell. No Quidditch, no duels, crappy Buckbeak sections. And the "plenty of sidequests" are just some glorified enemy waves. It's decent, but the console version is just better.
@PC.NickRowan2 жыл бұрын
@@yrooxrksvi7142 Agree to disagree. I respect your points/arguement but my main point was that the PC version was a much more "fun" game imo, and still maintained a greater sense of the exploration, challenges and secrets that made the original HP PC games so good.
